LINKS to Hose hangers and other methods of managing the main air hose

These first links contain pictures of creative ways people have come up with to hang the main air hose -- preventing the weight of the air hose from pulling at masks and headgear and keeping the hose out from under them:

you can also just use a simple Plant hanger from local garden/hardware store, they only cost about $10 bucks.

Quite an asset

Post by snoozie_suzy » Fri Jun 30, 2006 9:23 pm

RG~

You truly are an asset to this forum. Of course I undoubtably have received advice from countless members of this board also, but I am referring to the links that you post that are a Godsend. I have saved most of them on my "sleep apnea" folder on my MSN account. Not to mention how helpful these links are to the newbies. I know when I first started looking on this forum last fall I had difficulty searching for certain things because the search words weren't pulling up the exact things I was looking for, and then of course you have to weed through countless emails hoping you will find the answer you are looking for.

Thank you for taking the time to save and post such information on a regular basis.

P.S. Like your new picture. Makes me want to get a new picture with this years new "hairdo"

Suzy

Package of elastic from sewing box, little springy drawstring holder for adjustments and hook, both from junk drawer.

New guy here.
I knew there were a million and one ways to DIY this.
Couldn't find one place to post a "how I did it", so I'll do it here.
Feel free to move it.

After 2 nights of wrestling w/ the hose in my sleep I decided to take action.
Made this in about 30 minutes w/ stuff I had around the house, and it works like a charm.

some duct tape
2 wire hangers
1 small spring clamp
1 wire nut
1 spare velcro strap that came with my mask
No tools used.

Image

The only thing you can't see in the picture is the wire nut, it's covered with some duct tape.
The hook of the bottom coat hanger goes up through a hole in the spring clamp, the wire nut is screwed on to the end of the hook to keep it from falling back through the hole.
The duct tape over it was supposed to be to keep it from swiveling, but didn't work.
I'll eventually come up with a way to fix the swivel to make it a feature rather than a bug (it swivels to one side or the other of the clamp and then gets stuck there).

I know it's not pretty, but there's not much about this stuff that is.
If I cared about how it looked and wanted to stick to my "only stuff on hand" method, I would have covered it w/ some black shrink tubing I have.
I can think of a million other ways to pretty it up for cheap or nothing, including having mom knit a cozy to go over it.
