No one here is in a position to answer any of the above questions. We don't know you and we aren't doctors. If you want answers, call your doctor.Enchanter wrote:ems wrote:Enchanter... why would you think that a tech would know more than a physician?? A tech can learn how to hook someone up to a machine in probably a year, maybe two. A doctor goes to medical school for many years and learns (among other things) how to interpret the results of a sleep study.Enchanter wrote:yaconsult wrote:Enchanter, please stop letting anything a tech says influence you. All that matters is what the doctor says! The techs just take measurements. They can't say whether a person has apnea or not - only a doctor can.
You have a tendency to deconstruct what the techs say to you and try to get it to come out the way you want. Techs merely collect data. Doctor gets the collected data. Doctor uses his experience and training to make a diagnosis based on the data recorded on the equipment. The doctor is not influenced by anything the techs says. And neither should you be.
If you want information, call the doctor's office and ask questions about how long you need to use the test equipment you have at your home now and how long until you can get your results.
Robysue said the tech knows. Doesn't the tech know more than doctor? After all that's why they are specialized techs for sleep apnea. So are you saying that the tech messed up? Can't he be fired?
If the tech "hooked" you up correctly, and I feel sure he did, he did his job! There would be no reason to fire him. He never should have indicated in any manner whether he thought you had SA or not. That was up to your doctor to decide. I remember asking my tech something... she said, "that's up to your doctor to discuss with you." That's what your tech should have said to you.
Edit: Robysue apparently said that the tech knew. What I believe she meant is that if someone has been doing his job for a few years, he starts to pick up clues as to whether a person might have SA or not. That's it... he might have a guess... but only the doctor is able to correctly make that determination.
Okay, so I guess that means I don't have sleep apnea? Or I do? The tech said my oxygen was running low. So therefore, I need more oxygen or a mask right? Obviously if the tech said my oxygen low then he is right, or that means he is wrong. Right?

Enchanter, 2 months ago you were concerned that your oxygen levels may be dropping during sleep.
I suggest you pick up an oximeter and check yourself each night for several nights.
You decided that you would rather get that information from the sleep study.
How is that working out...?
The original suggestion still stands.
The answer to one of your questions can be determined for very little expense and in the comfort of your own bed. The question now is do you really want an answer or are you more comfortable just being anxious about what the results could be and just want to complain how the "system" isn't working very well...?

Is it possible to not have OSA but have low oxygen at night? And if that is the case, would the doctor not let u have a mask since if it's not SA? But just cuz u don't have SA doesn't mean u don't need oxygen.

I feel extremely angry that you are selectively responding to certain posts and not others. You have been told repeatedly that you are asking questions that only your doctor can respond to and are completely wasting your time on this forum. If you doctor is not helping you, find another one who can.
And one more time, you really need an advocate or someone who can help you get the assistance you need. Pestering the forum is not going to help you at all even though the folks who have tried to assist have been godsends.

PALERIDER: this is the way to express yourself. Notice not once was "DA" used. If you find the need to call someone in their twenties who is obviously having a very difficult time, a "DA", you're the "DA"!49er wrote:Enchanter,Enchanter wrote:Is it possible to not have OSA but have low oxygen at night? I just read this thread and am very inclined to agree with the Sheriff. You all know exactly where this is coming from and have responded again and again with the same help and answers.
You are now so tied up in Enchanters life that you have got your panties in a knot and starting to take it out on others. Give up for gracious sake, nothing is going to change Enchanters (if he not a spam expert)... point of view or questions that keep going on and on. You have answered every question he/she has had and its still going on... get a life... stop taking out your own frustrations on fellow members here.
I DO think that he/she is a spammer and has got all of you hooked in... as the old saying goes.. hook, line and sinker .
And Ems, there is no need to come back at me for telling the truth... which is what you like to do... bye bye

Re: I'm back to Diagnostic Study- Home Study Tonight
Alright well I just called the guy who gave me the home test. He said he is having complications with the data. He'll have to talk to the tech. He said he can't get too into the details. He's not even sure I took it right and said it's hard to pick up the data or something. This is sooooooooooo damn frustrating. What more do I have to do? Geezus... I put the things in my nose, connected the chest and abodmen pieces to where they are supposed to do. I don't get it.....
Now the yellow light turned on at night. It's not supposed to turn on much, But when I inhaled deeply it turn off.

Enchanter, there are 2 types of oximeters, in general. Those that record and those that don't.
You are interested in one that records.
You wear the oximeter and start the recording. When the session is over you stop the recording. Then you download it to your computer via the software that comes with it. Now you can review your oxygen levels from various time frames. You can go minute by minute, or take 10 minutes at a time, or back up and see how things looked all night.
While it will answer your initial question, you will probably have additional questions that come up. The oximeter measures both oxygen levels and heart rate. The interaction between the two gives you two channels of data to look at.
xPAP add data from air flow and between all 3 you start to get an idea of what is going on when you sleep.
Once you have recorded your data and downloaded it to your computer, the question that you should now be able to answer is if your oxygen saturation remained above 90% all night.
OK, one question answered... Next?
