Enchanter,

Are you even considering 49er's suggestion (and others have suggested it as well)? It seems like you are all over the map in your thinking and believing and perhaps a third party could help get the answers you are looking for. It would make it a lot easier on you in the long run.

Please consider doing this.

The way it's going- Never! I don't know if this is ever going to happen for me. That's why I'm starting to just consider I don't have OSA. Because they'll never let me know either way. Just don't know why the tech said I did.

Wouldn't you like to find out why the tech said you had SA? How about considering that you do have SA which is why you've been asked to have another study so that more data can be collected. Would you rather have a doctor who is insistent on getting the data he needs in order to correctly write a script, or a doctor who would write just any script for your pressure needs to get you off his back?

As Cardsfan has already asked, when will you get the written results of the tests you've had so far? And if you don't know, why aren't you calling to find out? You are ENTITLED to all results. Have you tried to contact your doctor in regards to this? You don't seem to understand that by law you are entitled to get copies of all test results!! If you are under 18 the results would go to your parents; if over 18 they would go directly to you. If it were me I'd walk into his office and sit there until I got the attention of someone in his office.

Now, let's suppose this does take several months to finally get the necessary studies done and the machine in your house. In the long run, don't you think it would be worth it to you? That way you'd find out once and for all whether you have SA or not? You can still be working with an allergist during this entire time! As I already mentioned, he would be able to push this along if he thought you might have SA. Two months ago an ENT suggested (along with her allergist!) that my granddaughter have a sleep study. Fortunately, she doesn't have SA. However, the sleep study was done within ten days after her visit with the ENT, and then 14 days after her mom had the results. (Kaiser)

Enchanter... you don't seem to find anything said by me and others constructive. It's as if you don't even hear us. People are beginning to think that replying to your posts is a waste of time and are running out of things to say to you. I'm starting to feel that way.

It took me 6 weeks from my PCP saying I needed a sleep test to getting my machine. Enchanter joined April 16 before his first sleep test. So in 2 months time, he's had a sleep test-getting no results his Dr would use. Scheduled another sleep test in a clinic- got not results they could use. Now he's had his 3rd sleep study- this time in his home. Now waiting for the results. That seems on par with the time frame my process took. That does not seem unreasonable compared to what I went through.

So- Enchanter- when do You get the results of the at home test? The Dr. may finally have a diagnosis based on the latest test.

Keep bugging them, or at least try to get a definite date!

I'm not denying that there is a possibility that I have it. But at this point I'm not counting on them making the correct decision. They don't know what they are doing. If the tech was correct in his diagnosis, then they wouldn't have to back peddle. I had 2 TITRATION tests. Like Robysue said, that means the tech knows. However, it appears he DOESN'T know. Therefore the whole thing is up in the air at this point. Nothing is certain, nobody knows what's going on. Even the 2 people that came and set up the machine were confused. The doctor doesn't prescribe sleep meds. Nothing is cohesive. So even if I do have OSA, the point is I don't think they know what they are doing. Why have 2 titration tests, and then have another diagnostic test? When has that ever happened? I feel this whole process is just going around in circles. What is there now 30 more steps?

I wish Robysue was here. I need her to know that I took the home test.

Be patient. You will have answers soon. I have confidence the Dr. is waiting on complete results from a valid test. A sleep tech is not supposed to be diagnosing you.
Call the Dr office and keep on them to get your results.

You can contact the at home sleep test provider. Tell them you want a copy of your test results mailed to you.

That's what I'm saying the sleep tech may have not done his job right. I'm pretty sure they're going to say I don't have OSA. Otherwise my test would have been valid. But the fact remains that sleep causes me to have massive crushing OSA headaches. It's not something else, it's from sleep.

I think it is time to move on and find a competent Doctor who can help you... You poor young man this is going on for
far to long for you. This is not rocket science either you have it in some form or you don't.

My best advise is to move on, and get some one who will work with you and help you.

I wish you well...

Enchanter- you said you did not get any sleep the first 2 tests. That is a possible reason those tests are not valid. They were unable to collect the data the Doctor requires to diagnose you.

But Robysue says that I did sleep. Because they don't do titration unless you sleep. I remember being alert the whole night, but some people say that if tech says I slept, I slept. According to tech, I slept 2 hours during diagnosis but it was very broken and light. He says I never entered REM. But he did say my oxygen was de-saturating so there wasn't any point to test me further.

Sweetie, it sounds like you just have got a bad tech and doctor. Talk to your insurance and see if you can go to someone else. That or give me their numbers and I'll kick some tail for you Either way, someone is not doing their job!
