OK let's think about this.

There's 40 seconds between plays...

Four pages of responses and not one from the OP. Yet, this thread has developed a life of its own. Maybe that is what the OP is talking about. Some of you do get so far off topic in a thread that I forget what the thread was all about to start with. You also, tend to toot your own horn, instead of addressing the issue of the OP.

He said goodbye. Why would anyone expect him to reply?

All this talk about saying the wrong words to the wrong person and setting them off sounds familiar... tough love, De Nile etc. When I first got here, I used the phrase 'positive thinking' quite a bit. Man, what a *&%#storm that caused. Early on I decided not to go into a big polarizing lecture about that specific school of thought, but rather to switch to the phrase 'a problem solving orientation'. It's been almost a year later with me frequently using the latter phrase and so far not a peep out of the original members who were deeply offended (BTW, some of them contribute heavily in this thread). As a bonus, I still got my message across, probably even better than my positive thinking spiel ever did. Sometimes just avoiding the convenient hot button phrases is enough to tamp the emotions down to a dull roar. EDIT: Oh, and for those that are actually reading all the posts... I did use the phrase De Nile earlier... har, har. but we are all human here.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Errr um, the OP is long gone. Perhaps you missed reading the title or first message.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Some folks just can't leave a great party until the keg is drained, all the party hats are crushed under foot and the band's driven off with their U-Haul. Too bad the OP left before the party even got started... somebody missed all the fun That's what I love about this place... it's weird, but it's real.

I felt like I was being attacked on a thread I started here a few years ago. If it hadn't been for PM's that I received from others I would have left this forum for good. I can't say I was literally attacked but I felt like I was. I guess it was that not everyone shared my opinion. I must say I would never have been successful with my cpap therapy without the help I received here. I am so very grateful to this forum and especially to the very kind PM's. My controversial thread results were that I followed my heart and everything worked out well in the end and I am glad I didn't follow all the advice I got here. I guess what I am trying to say is that nothing is ever perfect but that doesn't make it bad. This is still a great forum.

Okay I have to say this...the op is long gone......maybe........he/she started a thread with "so long folks"...now why would he/she do that, why did he/she not just disappear into the night????? I say the op is still here, lurking to see what attention the thread has given him/her. Usually, when someone leaves the group. they just go....but.. if all they want is attention.... they now have it. How many threads have we responded to with help when the op has repeatedly said they were "done" "gone", but somehow they still keep coming back to their thread with another response. ...I leave you with that thought.....
Nan
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

No need to apologize, although I will accept it. I should have said "justifiably chastised," which may still be a little stronger than needed. IIRC, you responded to some over the top comment I made in a thread where the person was talking about abandoning therapy because of a whole lot of issues. When I read your response back then I realized I had come on a lot heavier than was appropriate, and you were right in calling me on it. I decided to try to be more sensitive in the future and moved on.

I know the feeling of thinking I was saying something in a kind way, and having it received in a negative way. Doesn't feel good, does it? I may not always agree with you, or like what you write, but you are coming from a perspective that deserves recognition. You aren't the only one who has called me on a comment, but since you commented in this topic, and that comment reminded me of the previous topic, I referred to the past specifically to bolster the idea that you were making credible point here. I was using your comment as a convenient reference point to start my discussion about forbidden hugs, nothing more.

OK, the OP was leaving the forum because he/she felt, I guess, unfairly treated. A question I have wrestled with for many years is, "What is the responsibility of the person being talked to, to look beyond the words he/she hears to ferret out the real intent behind those words?" Just as much as we who give advice need to be sensitive to the needs of the person being advised, isn't there some responsibility of the advised to overlook unintended initial negative connotations of that advice? Successful communication is a two-way street, but it's tough to go uphill when one person sees themselves at the bottom of a steep hill. But I don't think that excuses them from trying.

One credo I have tried to live by, though not always successfully, is, "If a wall is going to be built between you and me, you are going to have to do the building."

I'm jealous of the OP; I've tried to leave here several times, and can't.

Maybe it would help if people around here were a little less friendly?

Some of the artist forums are the ugliest nastiest places I have been on the net. Then there are the religious forums OMG - not much love and peace there. And the "big issues Debate" on my knitting forum - well it is a good thing knitting needles don't fit through the monitor....
Artists, monks and knitters. hahahahaha
