If you mean the direct seal, I can comment. The direct seal works better for me than the nasal pillows. It seems as if the medium pillows are too small for me, and the large ones are too large. The mediums seem to leak quite easily and the large ones have a tendency to invert and then do not seal well for me. The seal is not so poor that I wake up to fix it with the large, inverted pillows.

However, the direct seal size that I measure to use is a 3. The size that works best for me is a 4; more effectiveness with a size larger is quite common with any nasal interface.

Please note that I have slotted nares and my deviated septum tends to make them slightly different sizes.

Direct Seal

Post by UCFgrl » Sat Sep 23, 2006 7:26 pm

I don't know where I got Dream Seal from. Thank you for your help. I have a slightly deviated septum. I wanted to order the Direct Seal when I ordered the mask but my stupid provider didn't have the option. I knew I wouldn't like the pillows that much b/c I didn't care for them that much w/ the Swift.

Dream or Direct, It's still a Seal

You are SO welcome--Hey, with all of the various names for the ComfortLite things--it can be VERY confusing.

You are lucky to have gotten the simple seal, as there is an extra tube required because the angle of connection is different. The nasal pillows and direct seal use just the straight tube.

BTW, I had the Swift for a few weeks and liked its nasal pillows much better than the CL nasal pillows. At least the direct seal is a good option, although with my slotted nares I do find that I feel like my nostrils are a bit stretched in order to get a good seal. I'd like them better if they had a narrower opening--maybe as a 4th option.

I've yet to try the simple seal, but that may be my next project after trying the hybrid.

When I had problems with my comfort lite after my change from cpap to apap, I was told that comfort lite was not recommended for use with apap!
Is the comfort lite 2 any better in combination with apap ?
I just switched to the Auto CPAP and sure like the CL2 alot better. I sometimes take 30-40 minutes to fall asleep (I am working on that!) but with my old CPAP it would ramp up to full pressure and blow up my nose when I was trying to get to sleep. With the APAP no problem and very comfortable!

Dear Friend LC,
i just came across this old review you did. Ted also.
i am due for a new mask in July to (MAYBE) replace the headrest. a very tall order. as you stated the comfort lite 2 exhausts on the arms/hands . why can't manufactures get it right for us side sleepers ! i am torn between trying the breeze, opus. i again purchased the headrest recently out of pocket because DME can't obtain though Medicare HOW CONVENIENT....
with me it's the old" cold dead hands thing" giving up old reliable.
What say you
tim

Has a liner been made fit it yet?

Do you have any insights as to how this masks works with mustaches?

OK, I have to comment here since I ordered one of these through cpap.com. I was first dignosed back in 2007 and had a tough time and finally gave up. after having another study and how tired I was I was prescribed the oral appliance. I figured while I was waiting for that to be made (3-4 weeks!) I would try my AutoM cpap machine again. 2 nights of hating the standard nasal pillow face gear, had me looking here and seeing the reviews for something betterand I was impressed with how the CL2 was fitted and setup. The reviews were somewhat dated but was impresse3d with how everyone liked it, so I ordered, and got it shipped next day air. I used the over the nose mask and I was not annoyed nor did I notice it hardly at all. I think a couple times I bumped it and had a leak but I not only slept well, I hardly even noticed it! Wow, what a difference over the old setup! I love the easy adjustments and it just fits fantastic for me.

I would like to mention though that it seems that Respironics has discontinued making them and what is left in stock is all there is. Is there something else with a similar fitting when my current one wears out?

Thanks!

..Jay
