I had no idea RG even linked to Ted's review. I found the link in Ted's post. Then when I went back to RG's post, I realized that when she put her words in "bold" lettering, it was actually a link. Missed that one completely. I usually expect to see it as a URL link, so she fooled me with that one. Good call, O.

Lori, That RG is a sly one... and ozij is too sharp not to pick up on it. I guess that leaves the rest of us looking like deer caught in the headlights. LOL!

My CL2 is arriving today, I'll be sure to add my 2 cents.

Thanks, Wading. Will be looking out for your two cents, also. I know you're a fellow Aura user; and RG, too. I think it really takes a lot for one of us to trade in the old Aura for something else. So hearing from you guys about this makes an impact to someone who uses the Aura exclusively. Hope your CL2 arrives on time. Good luck tonight.

Are you saying I might "Get Lucky" tonight??? Last I knew, the definition of getting lucky did NOT involve trying out a new cpap interface.

Yeah, but you were younger and better looking at the time.

Actually, "someone" DID say that and wouldn't you know, it's the person that would have to make that happen. LOL!

Tash wrote:Rested Gal, Ok, I gotta' ask... what does the headgear do to your hair? It looks lighter than the Aura (pre-deconstruction), but it still looks like it can cause some hair damage...Whaddaya think?

Thanks,

Newsgrouper wrote:I'm also interested if it is less likely to cause hair damage than the Breeze or the Aura.

Tash and Newsgrouper, it was surprising to me that the ComfortLite 2 hasn't mashed my hair down in front the way an intact Aura does.

To look at pictures of the ComfortLite 2, it seems like it would rub the hair. I didn't see how just having a hole cut out would accomplish much in the way of sparing the hair. I thought the two pieces on either side of the cutout would still mash hair, but for whatever the reason, the ComfortLite 2 has been quite "hair friendly" to me.

Maybe the soft foam padding of the ComfortLite 2 vs the nubby rubber underside of the Aura ("Headrest") is making it kinder to the hair. I don't know what prolonged use would do to the hair, though, as I've had the ComfortLite 2 only a short time.

Rita, since a person has to choose two of the three nasal interface options, I got the Pillows and the Simple Cushion. Both those worked fine, although I prefer the more leakproof (for me) seal of pillows. I don't know how the Direct Seal feels or seals, but I think the nubs on the Direct Seal would have to fit inside the nostril openings (the nares) at least somewhat. I wasn't interested in the Direct Seal as I figured those nubs would be a bit more rigid than pillows are, but I don't know that for a fact. The only option that doesn't have anything at all inside the entrance to the nares is the Simple Cushion which is like a small triangular mask covering the nose.
txtornado wrote:I'm hoping you can answer a question for me about the ComfortLite 2. What is the difference between the pillows and direct seal cushion? It's not clear to me from the pictures
I didn't get the Direct Seal, so can't answer that for sure. Just guessing, I'd say that the nubs on the Direct Seal are probably less flexible -- more fixed in place, probably -- than the pillows thingies are. Both would fit just inside the nares (nostril openings.) I've always liked nasal pillows, so I wanted to try the Pillows rather than the Direct Seal nubs. As my second option, I wanted to try the Simple Cushion for a complete change of pace feel, as it surrounds the nose.

Perhaps John5757 can shed more light on the difference between the Pillows and the Direct Seal as he has both those.
john5757 wrote:You made the absolute great idea of using the short connector tube from a Activa mask. I am going to try that tonight! My snuggle hose setup is kind of heavy also. I also have the Direct Seal and I will compare it to the new pillows type
John, I should have credited Ted (Titrator) with the Activa connector tube idea. I had mentioned to him that I didn't like the heavy clumsiness of having to connect a main air hose directly to the swivel on the ComfortLite 2. I said that I wished Respironics had provided a short flexible connector tube to go to the air hose. Ted suggested that the Activa connector tube would probably accomplish that. Smart guy, that Titrator fellow!

Titrator Ted,
My bad, I missed the review too! Mea culpa...
It's good to know about the hair issue, I felt kinda' silly asking, but obviously it is an important factor. Thanks for the great review!

RG,
Thanks also for the great information. This mask was not on my wish list, but with your input and Ted's review, it is now.

Take care,
Tash

[quote="Ritap1965"]I would like to use the option that does not actually enter the nostrils. Am I correct in assuming that the Direct Seal does not enter the nostrils. I like the ComfortCurve which lies under the nose but is not invasive, and was hoping the direct seal would work the same.

John, after you have tried it a few times, please let me know if you find the Direct Seal more comfortable than your Swift.

Also, what is the noise level like? Noisy like the swift or more quiet?

Sincerely,
Rita
