Thanks to everyone for their support, it means so much. Mike seemed to do better last night, less leaking, lower AHI and feeling OK this morning, but he's getting up several times to pee, I don't know if that's the new meds or his kidney function that was out of whack in the hospital. We'll be seeing our Dr for followup on Wed and I have lots of questions. Now, the mystery of my "sore throat" turns out to be a severe thrush, it seems my immune/nervous systems and improper diet have left me open to this so I'm on meds right now. It's a very unpleasant feeling and taste in my mouth. Ugh! Hopefully all this will pass soon and I can get back to participating full time on this wonderful forum!

Well look at the positive side - it is not a cold or flu you could give Mike.

Good luck to both of you!

So glad to hear that Mike is doing better!

What a bummer about the thrush. I know it is miserable Isn't it interesting how our bodies tell us that they need some attention too?

Take care and both of you heal fast!!

So glad to hear he's doing better. Sorry to hear about your thrush, but at least that is containable/curable. Follow the doc's orders to the letter and you should get relief in just a few days =)

I know we have some experts here on vitamins/minerals deficiency so I'd appreciate any thoughts on some supplements I should be taking? I asked the Dr but he kind of ignored the question, said just some extra Vit C but I was wondering about the B Complex? Most Drs aren't great believers in those things.

Dori, thrush indicates an imbalance of the flora in your mouth. While it is always good to take a good multi vitamin and vitamin C is always good, the best thing for thrush is vitamin Y... That is yogurt.

Yogurt helps the other flora rebuild and when that happens the thrush is forced out.

The way you use yogurt is to take a tablespoon of it and swish it around in your mouth for a while, then swallow it. Repeat 5 - 6 times a day and the thrush should subside in a day or two.

If you don't like yogurt you can take a couple of probiotic pills and mix them into a glass of water and wash your mouth with that.

I'm no expert, but per Mayo Clinic, in addition to the medication, perhaps yogurt / acidophilus will help:

I like yogurt, I was eating a cup of Activa with some fruit almost every day before Mike got sick but my diet has gone to pot. I will start again. I do take one acidopholus capsule daily for my IBS but wonder if I should take more? @Guest, yes I do have asthma and sinus problems but strangely throughout all this and even before they haven't acted up so I haven't been using my steroid sprays for awhile now, if that's why you're asking.

Glad to hear Mike is doing better and I wish him a speedy recovery and a speedy getting back to the normal routine.

Hoping your thrush gets better ASAP without any delays.

How long did it take, the Dr wants me to take them 4x/day for 2 weeks even if it seems better.
