Not really. Jerusalem is very hilly, not at all cyclists oriented yet, when it rains (winter only) it pours, and summer is hot and dry. And most workplaces don't have a place for you to shower....

To paraphrase Carbonman (from another current thread) 'Excuses excuses excuses'

But yes I doubt I would be cycling daily allowing for the conditions you describe. I suspct my 300 ft change in altitude is pretty easy stuff.

Looks like a sweet commute dsm. Looks like you already have a polar but if anyone has an iPhone 3Gs you might want to look into an app called Runkeeper, there is a free version. Example part of my commute ...

That looks really interesting & one option I had in mind. One reason I am still sticking with the Polar is the heart rate strap unit & the speed sensor on the wheel for getting accurate point by point info.

I looked into the Nike attachment for the iPhone but it is a foot sensor & I am at the moment very interested in the HeartRate feedback.

Now if someone came out with a way the iPhone could read my polar accessories and add them to its (iPhones) GPS capabilities, that would be worth dropping the Polar S725X.

But, I will give that iPhone app a try now that I have seen an example of the output.

Thanks

I downloaded the free version intending to try it on todays trip home. But not being familiar I didn't know it hadn't started. So tonight did a walk around the block & sure enough this time it worked just as you showed. Was able to email myself a link to the walk and see it online.

So I bought the pro version as it allows you to take pics along the way & geo tag them & save them - the data looks excellent & maybe I can part with my Polar S725X & change to his - I have a speedo attachment that I can put on the bike for real time reading. It reems that Run keepers speed & altitude data is good enough for historical purposes.

I suspect they will extend it soon with heart rate monitor support but the calorie counting it does looks good enough as a general indicator.

Anyway, many thanks for steering me to this as it is one very useful app.

Thanks

I'm glad you like it, its got a few limitations in that it will only work for up to 2 hours as gps drains your iphone battery faster.

The satellite views on the map are a bit off and tend to show me cycling in the middle of the road and through peoples backyard swimming pools. Its fun though and good for historical tracking and sharing your rides with friends.

A good tip is to turn off your Wi-Fi when using runkeeper.
