dsm, it's good to have your priorities in order.

I'm going to hang on your coattails for a bit of that resolution.

I'd like to add to your resolutions......if I might be so bold.
More pics, please.

Carbonman,

I'll add a pic to this post in a few mins but will remove it shortly there after. I still feel embarassed wearing those tights
I have a few bikes but regularly use a MTB and the one that will be in the pic which is a lovely older 14-speed TANGE Cro Molly framed bike (great for surviving spills ) akin to a CENTURION COMP TA (circa mid 1990s).

Dude...look'n good!!

If someone is making you feel weird about the tights and shorts...
it's because they're not out there on the road....and you are.
You are styl'n.

....and if this is an indication of follow through on your resolutions....you're good to go.
I meant more pics of your rides...through out the year.
I'll probably never make it to Ozzy land....so would love to see it the way you see it.

Carbonman

My wife & I do car rallies around the country. 2 years ago we did a 2 week cross country to Adelaide & I took lots of pics.
But Aust is very flat in places & those were the ones we went thru.
I'll look at doing a web slide show from some of those pics as I think they give one flavour of the country.

Stand by ...

Hi DSM

I used to cycle to work when I was drinking. The highlight of my day was racing trams down St Kilda Road.

But a combination of sobriety, opening car doors, increased traffic, half-blind car drivers and a degenerating body put a stop to it.

And you are cycling in Sydney, too

You are a braver man than me, Gunga Din

Have a safe New Year, DSM.

cheers

Carbonman,

Here is a small initial selection taken as we drove from Sydney to Moama / Echuca - 2 adjacent towns, one either side of the nsw/vic brder & either side of the mighty murray river (mighty to us, tiny to anyone else ).

In looking thru the pics though it highlights how flat this part of Australia is. The towns are from another era. They are in stark contrast to our cities.

The most interesting things to photo were the pubs as they have character & so I took pics of lots of them. On one leg of our trip I joked to my wife that there was actually a bend in the road coming up & how exciting an event that was

Anyway - here is part one of this set. There are 36 pics in total on 3 pages. Click any one to blow it up & you can navigate forward & backward thru all 36.

#2 added 36 more pics plus extended the 1st group to 36 - now 72 pics covering 2000kms of driving from Sydney down to victoria Echuca & on to Berri in Sth Aust then the barrossa. The only real high points were when we hit the Grampian mountains in vic toria. Mostly was as flat as a pancake until we got to the Barrossa Valley in SA (near Adelaide).

Stunning photos, Doug. And you seem to have had it all to yourselves!

Looking fit & well too!

Ain't that the way? And I agree with Carbonman, the knockers are just jealous!

You too have a great New Year down there. You are right about the traffic so I stick to designated cycle roads & paths & spend very little of the journey among 'traffic'.

But if I suddenly stop posting here, look in the obituary columns for something like 'cyclist squashed flat by 18-wheeler articulated lorry'

Hi Grandmma,

You have a happy New Year (even if it is thus far a wet one )

So wet here I decided to play with creating slide shows (been meaning to do it for 20 months ).
I have added 36 more pics to the original post as a second set - as you will see typical NSW & VIC & SA country towns - very very quaint !.

dsm, great pics.
I like the style of the bars and hotels.
Country looks like mid USA. Farm land. Flat.
Thanks!

How about some pics of your ride to work?

Yes - go to your room

Actually, the ride to work is interesting - starts off going through a gully (Brown's waterhole) that floods in heavy rain (have cycled through it two times whilst in flood - not a smart idea) - then along very quiet suburban roads designated as shared cycleways. Through a train pedestrian subway (Eastwood Station) then can go 1 of 2 ways, one way goes right through where the 2000 Olympics were held, the other through more suburban streets.

So one morning I'll take my camera & document the trip.
