Okay, I promise not to use Pureaira oils on my Pur-Sleep Diffuser pad!

I'm definitely buying a Pureaira today though.

Hey Bret, how do you burn a Pureaira without setting off the hotel room fire detection system? I'm VERY INTERESTED in getting one for travelling. I got SO SICK last Xmas from sleeping in a hotel room that REEKED of disinfectant. It smelled like someone had been smoking there for 20 years, then they'd washed it with disinfectant. It was HEINOUS!!!! I was sick for weeks after that. So was my mom.

Fixing the smell won't keep me from getting sick, but at least it might mitigate the smell somewhat.

Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Actually from the way it sounds, this purairia thing might be cleaning the air of chemicals like that too. Might have something to do with ions n stuff. I like to air out hotel rooms, but usually the smell comes back later.

That's great. You won't be disappointed; it will kill smoke smells, disinfectants, you name it. The nail salon people love it. The lamp fuel is alcohol based (91% isopropyl) with essential oils. It does not smoke when it burns (there might be a tiny bit of smoke depending on the flavor). You light the catalyst, let the alcohol burn for about 3 minutes, then blow it out. The catalytic combusion burns at a low temperature (too low to ignite anything, including alcohol, so there's no fire hazard after the flame is blown out). The catalyst glows like a red ember. The puraira catalysts are the best; they have the lowest operating temperature and are not as touchy as some of the others.

I've been using ClearII for the last several nights and getting some GREAT sleep!

I used one drop of Spice and one drop of Peace last night, and it was very pleasant. I slept pretty well. Still had the 2 am friskies.... REFUSED to get up and watch TV and stuff my face. Wandered around, took some ibuprofen for some nagging pain, read the last few pages in my book, and forced myself back to sleep.

I don't know if Pur-Sleep is improving my SLEEP, but it's pleasant, and enjoyable, so what the heck?

And I just placed a giganto order for the Puraira.

Cheers,
B.

tried again

Post by canyongirl » Fri Jul 27, 2007 11:54 am

So I really do like the pur sleep. It seems kinda of related, but not to have the hard to breath thing going on. If I start the smell earlier, like 30 minutes before bed and keep it farther away, I do better. I don't get that hard to breathe feeling or lost my breath feeling.

I really like that I can buy some more oils. im going to try the vanilla after sooo mnay said it was greatg and a good blend with clear and peace. I have missed nice smellls since i went on cpap. I used to regularly spritz my room with lavender, etc.

more importantly, GF of jeffh, why get kinda nuts when your man is doing the cooking, onions and garlic notwithstanding!?
That's what I keep telling her. I'm the cook around here and she better appreciate it!

You might try the paradise as well - I have trouble getting back to sleep or believe it or not, taking a nap (with the noise level in my house). I got up when my hubby went to work - wide awake. Had a diffuser pad already waiting with the paradise on it - wonderful aroma! Went back to sleep in record time, woke up feeling so more freshed than usual with that extra sleep! (And not to forget - did not take me 1/2 more hour to get back to sleep!) My nap yesterday - the same thing - zonked out in no time. Very relaxing scent, IMHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fresh is also wonderful - not as "spicy" as spice, but has that good citrus aroma. Will go great with your creme (vanilla)!

It's important that you like the smell in the first place. It also sounds like you have a rather sensitve sense of smell (there's NO way I could smell anything six inches away from my air intake, much less two or three feet!).

You might be able to transfer a "micro" drop of EO from a plate to the pad. Only one other person has had a "hard to breathe" kind of experience so I'm not sure what to tell you about that. Certainly you wouldn't want to use anything that's causing an allergic reaction. A number of people who are sensitive to smells (such as MCS) have reported that they don't have issues with the authentic EOs.

Good Luck!

well, as i said, i got my new version pur-sleep yesterday...nicely packaged, didn't see any issues with leaking or mess, cute ceramic plate..all in all a nice set...so, i was trying it out last night...

i'm not sure what to think...for the last couple of weeks, i'd been using the little cotton pads from the original pur-sleep that i stopped using after the recall...i thought i'd try just placing them on the nightstand behind the machine in much the same way the new one would work, and i noticed that i wasn't waking up as much through the night, which is a big issue for me, whether my interface is comfortable or not--i used creme and spice and usually mixed them together, although i ran out of spice first and had been using the creme alone for a week or so...

last night i decided to try the peace mixed with clear...hmmm, took me longer to fall asleep; don't think i woke up more, but had wildly vivid dreams (but i think that's a good sign, right?) and even acted out a couple, something i always used to do but was doing less since cpap, so i wonder if the peppermint did act as a stimulant for me...i think, too, that part of taking longer to fall asleep was worrying that i'd get a headache from the lavender, like i usually do, but no, i didn't get one, so that was all good; i'd really like to give the lavender a fair shake, as it's supposed to be so great for inducing and maintaining sleep...
i think i read somewhere on this thread that peace and creme made a nice combo, so i think i'll be trying that tonight...will let you know how that goes

so, thanks again, bret!

p.s. glad to see the postage to canada didn't ding you too much

Sharon, I'm really intrigued that Lavendar gives you a headache too! I have been using a lavendar essential oil that I got from a farmers market for a few weeks now, and NO HEADACHES! I'm seriously thinking since reading this thread that the lavendar that has bothered me in the past was synthetic.

I haven't had any headaches yet from Bret's products. I do have a headache now, but that's strictly menstrual in nature, and I didn't have it last night when I was sleeping or when I woke up.

Anyway.... Peace and Spice is a nice combo for me right now. I think I'll stick to that for a few days.

Cheers,
B.

babs, i would have thought so too, except my boss always insists on picking lavender from our garden at work and attaching it to the blower on the air conditioner in my office, which give me a headache every time...i thought i was allergic, but when i went to the allergist in the spring it didn't show up on scratch test plus, since my septoplasty i find myself much less sensitive to scents, and way fewer headaches
Anyway.... Peace and Spice is a nice combo for me right now. I think I'll stick to that for a few days.
hmm, sounds nice, but i'm outta spice...i'll try it when i order more in the future

[quote="socknitster"]If this is the "Wild West" than all the fun people must have moved West.

I've checked out other forums, this one is the only one I joined. More fun, more diverse topics, and personally, I like to know what products are available. And people freq post here about buying products at their dme or other venders beside cpap.com.

We are adults, we can moderate ourselves. Geez, if I can tune out a commercial, I can decide what to read or not!
