SleepGuy wrote:The other website is http://www.puraira.com (pure-air-a). There are a few links burried on the pur-sleep site (I should make them easier to find!).

It's not a sleep product per se. It's called a catalyltic effusion lamp--a simple little flameless lamp that simultaneously purifies the air and emits a fragrance. It's been around in Europe for a long time but is new to the States. It's much better than a scented candle. Catalytic combustion occurs without a flame and at a low temperature; the aromatic is not burned as in a candle and there's no smoke or flame (except during the first 3 minutes, after which you blow it out).

The issue being that all of the lamp fuels on the market use artificial fragrances that in my opinion (and most other people) are extremely strong and unpleasant. Puraira has developed a line of all-natural aromatic fuels for these little fragrance lamps. My favorite one is Pur-Woods--though I really enjoy all of them!

My 16 year old daughter insisted on having a lamp in her room last night. So 45 minutes of Pur-Spicewood was more than enough to do the trick! There's also Pur-Red (cinnamon and orange), Pur-Cedar (real cedarwood), Pur-Mountain Meadows, Pur-Ification, and several others.
I'm very curious about these lamps. I have enjoyed putting the peace on the diffuser pad during the day and as I walk back to my bedroom to put away laundry or somthing I find it VERY pleasant. So, now I'm thinking I might invest in the lamp. Do any of the lamp scents contain lavender as a component? I will be exploring that website and maybe ordering a lamp soon.

We bought one if the Puraira lamps when they came out. Makes a nice, pleasant scent though out the house. Had a wick problem and Bret fixed it right up. Have ordered other oils from him since the original order and enjoyed them all. We live in a two story (for now, for sale sign goes in the yard tomorrow) and the cooking smells tend to migrate up the stairs, so this helps alot.

GF gets kinda nuts when I cook with onion and garlic and these are good about getting rid of the smell. (Why cook if you can't use onion and garlic??)

Received my order today so I'll have some additional fragrances to comment on -- got Fresh, Deep, and Paradise (as well as another Peace)...

Finally did a mix of Peace and Clear -- very nice!! Peace and Spice work well together as well....

I'm intrigued by the lamps -- I'll have to check that out as well......

As far as the Amber, I don't think those oils are compatible with the diffuser on the CPAP system Babs.....I could be wrong, but I think there are other things involved......SleepGuy would have to clarify that.....

Anyway -- onward and upward with aromatherapy!!!!! Enjoying every night!!

cheers

Has anyone seen this - this product has been pulled from the market.
This is an interesting read

i did check out this thread and was a little taken aback by the thinly veiled hostility towards cpaptalk.com...i'm still quite new to this forum and was wondering what that was all about? and the references to this forum being the "wild west"?

by the way, jeffh, way to hold your own in what seemed to be a ganging-up thread... wow...

Makes sense to me, Jeff: after all, you've get to smell Pur-Sleep all night (sure beats onions and garlic!).

The lamps are different than the Pur-Sleep stuff. There's no lavender-based fuels (that's still in R&D). I wouldn't try to use the lamps to sleep per se but they're fantastic around the house and at work.

No joke, 2 lamps burning for 2 hours cleared out all of the solvent and acetone odors in a 5000 sf print shop so the company could host their annual Christmas party last year. Nail remover, no problem. Pet smells. Mildew. I LOVE Cancun but no matter how nice of a hotel room you have they always have a bit of mildew smell. Last time I went down I took a lamp and burned Purification for a few hours: No mildew smell in the room for two days (of course the EO smells don't last that long). Even cigar smoke (high-end cigar shops are carrying these lamps).

The best way for non cpap people to use pur-sleep is to simply safety-pin a diffusion pad onto your pillow case and put on a drop or two of oils. It's that easy! I've had reports of that working very well for the significant other who wanted to have pur-sleep, too.

Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

Compared to another forum I've posted on this is the wild west.
I far prefer this forum where you can say what's on your mind without worrying about a moderator saying something, editing a post, slapping your hand, etc......
I read that other post as well. Some people seem to need to get worked up and don't know when to shut up.....say your peace, but don't grind it into the ground.......Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got my 6 gun ready padnah......slap leather (if you must)......

I can't imagine cooking without onion and garlic......I enjoy cooking, and wife enjoys that I enjoy.......

I'm definitely going to have to check out the lamps.....

cheers

Sharon, that other forum doesn't allow you to post links to products. They don't allow you to post links to other forums. They don't allow you to tell someone how to change pressures or link to info on it, because only a doctor can do that. They don't want someone who sells anything xpap related posting on their forum, even if they aren't selling anything in their post. They feel that this forum is run by a 'for profit' business, and we are allowed to say what we want here just so our host can make a bigger profit.

If this is the "Wild West" than all the fun people must have moved West.

I've checked out other forums, this one is the only one I joined. More fun, more diverse topics, and personally, I like to know what products are available. And people freq post here about buying products at their dme or other venders beside cpap.com.

We are adults, we can moderate ourselves. Geez, if I can tune out a commercial, I can decide what to read or not!

I agree, I did not join that forum either ... they prefer to live in lala land and shield themselves from reality.

I would much rather live in a "Wild West" than a "Police State" ... that is what that forum is ... a forum run by and for the administrators.

I can proudly say I got kicked off the other forum. BTW, they were quick to inform me that this WAS the "Wild West". I really did LMAO.

JeffH
Hey, I never even thought about getting a kick out of that ... maybe I should go over there and join to see how many times I can get kicked off within a week

GF sounds like a moron. Leave her and come live with me and be my kept boy/cook.

I love onions and garlic. HOWEVER, I had a roommate that was unemployed and living very poor. He lived on fried potatoes & onions in garlic for an entire year. I'd come home, and be standing on the porch, putting my key in the lock, and the garlic smell would be so overpowering... The other roommates and I used to spray that Citrus air freshener all over the house when he wasn't home. And joke that we felt like we lived in a teriyaki restaurant...

LOL,
B.
