It's good to hear that they are sending them out to folks who post here. Janna, I can appreciate your concern about bad sleep; it may pay to keep your current mask handy for a quick change!

Even though I can't use the nasal version, I love the thought that there are people out there attempting new designs using new materials.

Hope you both have good sleep!

I think it is great that we finally have some people here trying this mask and am absolutely looking forward to hearing about it. I have problems finding a mask to use since I have problems with a FF or pillows. Please let us know how it goes Jen and Janna.

Hello Skeptics--I don't blame you fro being skeptical about the Circadience Sleepweaver. However, from a verteran of 4 years Cpap and 8 mask duds here is my thoughts.
The best of the eight for me were the Nasal Air ll (hurt my nose-blood) and the ComfortLite ll (leaks). By accident of a generous nose and nostrils my MEP got me to try it. What do they say, " Just follow your nose." Man did it payoff this time

The Sleepweaver has given me consistant 6-7 hours of contunuous sleep with no pain or plastic marks for over 6 months now..
It does not cover your mouth so that you can not breathe through your mouth-so-if you are a mouth leaker you need the strap or tape.
It seals when with pressure by a unique flap over design using a lightweight air-tight fabric that is lined with a special web like material and exhausted with laser perfs in the front.
Its as light as a feather and washes and dries in very few hours by hand or in machine.
So skeptics beware--you are missing what I believe is the future in masks.
No plastic or vise like head gear--light weight and whisper quite.

Frank Heeg,

I'll remain skeptical at least until you fill out your profile and we hear from our members who are trying it.

I'm still searching for a good mask -- I can manage with what I have but it's not easy. However, spending $170 for a mask is more than I can manage. If the member reviews are good and the price comes down, I'll revisit.

Mindy

So what happened?

Post by Guest » Fri Jan 11, 2008 6:37 pm

Does it scare anyone that none of the "regulars" ever posted a response here after they had their first night with this trial mask?

I know the holidays are busy, but this has been more than a month since they tried this new mask...

Hmmm - did the mask swallow them up?

Hey, guys.

I'm thinking of forking out heaps of moolah for a new mask because I've had huge problems with my current one (ComfortGel). I get nothing back from insurance, have to fork out a mint for postage from the US, and have had months off work without pay due to illness. I can't afford to stuff around or be stuffed around.

In essence this mask sounds great, although I'm currently planning to go for the Headrest. Did any of the people trying it out have any luck? I have to presume not - PLEASE, don't let me know it's FANTASTIC after I've bought another one!!!!

If you don't want to post publicly, how about a PM.

OR - terrible thought, was the mask part of a mass murder plot, and you all carked it. (Music from Jaws).

Regards,

GrizzlyBear (and yes, I write crime fiction as a hobby!!!!! Badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Do a search on the SleepWeaver masks. I know that swtsassy65 and socknitster both have written reviews about their experience. You might PM them and ask for more detail on how they like it, what they didn't like, etc.

I wasn't impressed enough with the reviews to want to try it -- but who knows I might give in at a later date.

OK, I am one of the regulars who received the Sleepweaver mask free to try. I received the mask at the end of November or beginning of December. I used the mask on about 7 non-consecutive nights.

Background: From almost the beginning of my cpap therapy 16 months ago, I have used nasal pillows (first the Swift, then the ComfortLite 2, now the Headrest). I have not done well the few times I have tried nasal masks. I am a small woman with a small head, face and nose. I am almost exclusively a side sleeper. I use an APAP machine with the pressure range set from 7 - 14, but I rarely go above a pressure of 10.

Here are my pros and cons on the Sleepweaver.

Pros:
Extremely lightweight
Left no strap marks on my face
The mask was, in general, quite comfortable
Although the mask makes some noise on inhalation, it was not too noisy.
Easy to wash, and dries quickly.

Cons:
Adjustment can be a chore as the headgear has lots of velcro (no quick release).
The hose runs down the front (only a problem if, like me, you really want the hose to run up overhead.

I could not consistently get a good seal. The first night I fussed with the mask quite a bit and fought leaks, then suddenly it sealed and I slept the rest of the night. The other nights I could not get a good seal for more than a few hours.

The developer of the mask called me to discuss how I was fitting and adjusting the mask and how to resolve leak problems. He and I decided that the mask may just not work as well on a small nose/face.

Circadiance recently sent me another prototype to try. It is almost the same as the original, but seems to have a slightly larger opening for the mask to fit over the nose -- I probably need a smaller opening. I gave it a try one night and again had leak problems. I need to give it a few more tries, but just have not gotten to it.

Although the Sleepweaver is probably not the mask for me, I really have to applaud Circadiance for putting not only a new mask out there on the market, but a whole new concept. If you have not seen this mask, do check it out at http://www.circadiance.com and watch the video on the website. For the cpap users who can get a good seal with the Sleepweaver, I believe they will like the features of being very lightweight and comfortable.

Grizzly -- LOL -- all 3 of us who participated in the trial are alive and well. Call off the Jaws music. I believe that swtsassy65 really liked the mask. I don't think I read socknitster's final review.

Janna

At this point after reading your review about no quick release on it and having to do all the adjustments I don't think it would be something that would work for me cause I still get up a couple times a night (sometimes more) and like the quick release feature on some of the masks or easy on / easy off design of the headgear.

If you really don't like the mask JZ what about passing it on to someone that might want to try it to see if they like it?

I am NOT interested at this time in trying it so reason I am suggesting it since I have no vested interest.

I'll be a guinea pig for anybody who'd like to pass on their SleepWeaver mask. I'll write a good, fair and complete review, like this one:

viewArticle/Hybrid-Univirsal-OSA-Interface-Minerva.html

I'm currently using a 'lab-ratted' F&P HC 407 mask that works pretty well, but am always looking for something better. If you have one that's pretty lightly used, I will even pay you something for it, just P.M. me.

And, of course, if anyone from the company is reading this, and would be willing to let me have one in exchange for a review on this site, I would be happy to do that also.

Thanks!

Minerva

Good Morning,
I also have the SleepWeaver mask. I have posted a few updates but I will do another now.

Unlike JZ I still use mine nightly. I was sent the first one and liked it but the ajustment times were really bad.

The 2ed one was great and I still use it nightly. Yes even last night.

So here is my review. Now I wont get into all the details about me like Jz.
But I will tell you this. I am plump and also part polish. My nose the most. You can get it from there. As for how many masks I have tried in the past. I will get back to you on that after they all fall out of the closet and I can count them all

I like how lightweight it is. Feels like it is not there alot of the time.

I have a high pressure "16" and it does not feel like I have my head out a car window at 100 miles an hour. It seems to leason the effect of the pressure maybe because of how the air comes from the bottom.
This one really threw me so when I had the mask on and all set to go I had my b/f cheek it for leaks along the trunk of the mask and there was not one. Maybe works better at a higher pressure??

It also has left no marks on my face. Also I was using a actvia and have a scare on the top of my nose from that. This mask I have no sores or irritation anywhere.

Cleaning is a snap and it does dry quick.

I was worried about how if the if plastic piece came off you tape it back on. Ok I was thinking yea right to be honest. Well I did it to mine after I washed it and it came loose. Worked like a charm. This you could look at either good or bad. Kind of weird you think it is just taped on how cheap. I thought that at first to. But then I thought abot how much it cost to get a part for my actvia when it broke or wore out. This is alot cheaper and if it last for years great.

The ajustment can take along time. Some nights I can slip it on ans others it can take a good 10 mintues to get it right. With the new one I was sent it seems to be easier to just slip on and does not need the ajustment as much as the older one did.

I like how when I go other places at night I can just throw it in a baggie and go. The other masks it is not so easy. And I always seemed to have lost a part somewhere along the way.

It is quiet. When it leaks it gets LOUD but when it is not leaking very nice.

The hose was a problem but I rigged it so I have some going down along my body. maybe a ft then I hang the rest from my hose buddy on the bed and that seems to work fine. I sleep on m,y side or stomch and have no problem getting mixed up or cought in the hose. I did rig up a thingy with popsicle sticks but i find I dont need that now.

I wish they made a fullface mask. When I had a cold I was not able to use this one. Glad that is over.

The videos were a great help to me with the fitting and ajustments etc. Give them a look if you want on the website or yourtube also.

Sorry this was so long. I just wanted to be honest on the way I felt this mask is and works.

Thanks
Swtsassy65

Grizzly I am still around but you can leve the jaws music on My mind has been gone for sometime. Maybe the music will scare it back?
