Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
OK, I think you'll find the new machine and Win 10 pretty easy compared to SH on the old machine. Notice I added an edit to the bottom of my above post while you were adding yours - about the Down Load Manager.

Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
after you extract all, you have to be sure to close that window, and go to the new folder that has sleepyhead, and run it from there.rosacer wrote:I saw this situation, i received a message when i tried to execute the .exe being not extracted. Knowing that possible situation I used ''extract all''
unfortunately, windows explorer makes it easy to mistake being in a few of the compressed archive file, vs being in a regular folder with files.

Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
You are right Palerider, Explorer makes it easy to be mixed with the unziped files because you don't see any diference until you try to use them; very handy . I'm taking note of all your suggestions, it will be of great help when I will attack again the problem.
Jay, I'm not sure what you are referring about 'Download Manager'. I didn't use any downloader. What you are talking maybe was Revo Uninstaller? It doesn't download it uninstalls cleaning the registers and any trace of the software you want to uninstall.
Do you know Spyboot Search & Destroy ? Does it the same kind of job as Malwarebytes? I have Spyboot Seach & Destroy in my old and have been using it to scan for malware and cleaning cookies and tracking stuff.
I want to have the new laptop working because the old one has become SUPER slow, it is 5 years old with 4G RAM and an old Intel Core i3. By the way I'm writing from it right now and it is a charm how fast it goes, the old is connected to the back up drive.
Things are going well until now.
I need to go, I need to find and install the backup driver here.
Take care guys
Rosie
EDIT: seems that both software are commentaries, I'm installing both. I was surprised this computer had Revo included (it's a DELL) when I set it the first time.

You talked about the Down Load Manager in this thread

Yes, I think Spyboot is similar to Malwarebytes

Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
For users following this thread, this seems to be the easiest way to transfer SleepyHead Data from one computer to another:
(At least for Windows machines. I haven't tested it on Macs)
A Tested Method of Transferring SleepyHead from One Windows Computer to Another.
This method was used to successfully transfer SleepyHead 9.8 From a Win 10 Machine to a Vista machine on 8/11/2015
1. Copy the SleepyHeadData-testing File Folder from Documents on the First Computer to Documents on the Second Computer.
2. Copy the Sleepyhead Program File Folder from the First Computer to any location on the Second Computer.
3. Run the SleepyHead Program by clicking on the executable in the SleepyHead Program File Folder of the Second Computer.
Rosie, the above should work for you to transfer your 9.2 to the new computer, but you'd have to delete the 9.8 that's there. I think you should continue working on upgrading 9.2 to 9.6 to 9.8 on the old computer and then transfer.
Rosie, since it really doesn't matter where the SleepHead Program files are and Windows is a little picky about putting stuff in the Programs folder, you might try putting 9.6 on the Desktop of your old computer.
Upgrading to a newer SH Version
*Make sure you have copies of your 9.2 SHData and Program files.
*Delete or change the name of your 9.2 Program file that's now in x86 or other current location.
*leave the SleepyHead Data file in Documents
*In the Downloaded Files Folder, locate the 9.6 Zip file.
*Right click on the file, left click on "extract all", check "show extracted files" and "Browse", navigate to "Desktop" and "select Folder" then "Extract"
*The Sleepyhead Program Files Folder should now be on your Desktop
*Open the Folder and click on the executable
*It should find the data file and load your data.
*if it asks if you want it to create a data file, say yes. but don't create a new profile.
*Close and Reopen Sleepyhead.
*Your Data should now be loaded.
After 9.6 is installed, you can use the same procedure to install 9.8. Note that 9.8 is offered in both Zip and self extracting versions. Choosing the self extracting version is similar to the above, but saves a few steps. If you want use the Self Extracting version, I think you need to download the extractor program from 7-zip.com first. If you do use it, note that the button "Browse" might be replaced with a "..." symbol.

Please BACK UP your SleepyHeadData folder before even attempting to upgrade...
Once you upgrade SleepyHead's data folder, you can't use it in an older version without causing corruption.
...
Potential Upgrade Problems
If you're on an earlier version, and want to upgrade, it's best to try going through 0.9.6 first. If 0.9.6 doesn't work for you, all I can say is good luck, and I hope it works for you! If not, you will need to create a new profile.
If things don't seem to go right, try creating a fresh profile... or even a new SleepyHeadData folder. If you do this, and have a ResMed machine, you should be able to import from the automatic backup folder in the older profile folder to get your machine history back. If you have any other machine, and don't have your own backups, sorry to report that SleepyHead didn't have backups for your machine till now..

On my Windows7 desktop computer in C:\Program Files (x86)\SleepyHead-0.9.8-1-T3
& in D:\My Documents\SleepyHeadData-Testing . . . everything runs great.
I copied both of these folders to my Vista laptop computer in C:\Users\<me>\Documents\
When I try to run (BrokenGL & OpenGL) I get: "This application has failed to start because MSVCR120.ddl was not found. Re-installing the application max fix this problem." I found MSVCR120.ddl elsewhere on the laptop & copied into the program folder . . . same rersult . . . running as administrator . . . same result.
I tried moving the program folder into Program Files (x86) . . . same result.
Suggestions?

Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
different versions of windows need different DLLs installed.. "If you get a message something like "MSVCR120.dll is missing," you need to install the "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package" available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=40784 "Robear wrote:I copied both of these folders to my Vista laptop computer in C:\Users\<me>\Documents\

alternatively, try out the beta, I don't believe it needs that dll, because it was compiled with a different (non microsoft) compiler:

Re: Transferring SleepyHead to Another Computer
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=40784, as PR says, should work for you.
If you do have a good copy of the missing DLL, you'll probably have to put it in the System Directory, which for Vista I think is C:\Windows\System32. Or, on a 64bit version, C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (but you could be missing more than the one DLL, so you'd still need the download above).
I don't think you did, but don't put the SleepyHead Data Testing file folder in the Programs(x86) folder. The program files, which you can put anywhere, will be looking for the data file in My Documents.
