I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Sir, please be aware of this note I added as an edit:
How about it. Anybody else done this? Or have a better way? PR?
And this thread is about transferring data from one machine with W7 to another with W10, not upgrading the same machine to W10. My upgrade from W7 to W10 had no impact on SleepyHead.Jay Aitchsee wrote:Edit: Please note that this method can not be used for upgrade. Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
The card is fine. This is just one place where the S9 machine is brain damaged. The first thing to do is to copy the entire SD card to your PC so that you have a copy of your data. SleepyHead will always be able to use that data.rosacer wrote:One more SHIT. When I put the SD card back into the machine it says 'Invalid SD card' This is the first time something happens to one of my cards, damn shit !
Now I really lost all the data form the card and the only data available is the one in the old computer I'm unable to transfer, very nice. I find that weird that I was able to read the card on the new computer and now it doesn't work in the machine, the secure lock was on when I read the data, what a shit Murphy.
I will need to buy another card, I don't find the one spare I had, I moved and I have no clue where it could be. Is that card somthing special or whatever 3 G card will work? I don't know if I can buy such a small capacity.
Thanks
In my Useful Links in my signature line there is info on how to "uncorrupt" an SD card.
Pretty much any SD card 2 GB or larger will do. ResMed claims you need their own cards, but most people find any SD or SDHC card works. There's a link to the ResMed SD card FAQ in my signature line links.
Your S9 machine will probably fix the "corrupted" SD card on its own if you answer yes when it wants to reformat the card, but you'll lose your data.
BTW, SleepyHead has nothing to do with your card problems. It gets "corrupted" when you put it into a Win8 or Win10 machine. The slimebags at MicroShaft decided they would screw with your SD card without permission, and the idiots at ResMed designed the S9 to reject the SD card if anyone else has written to it.
If you have problems with downloading and installing, use the .exe version of the download file instead of the .zip version. It avoids some of the problems with the way MicroShaft handles .zip files.

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
I'm VERY thankful with each one of you whom are trying to help me fix this nightmare
I found the lost SD card I will use it instead of the corrupted and I will copy it on my computer as archangle has suggested.
I was wondering if the data was lost for ever
Jay, I copied again the data because not knowing what was going on I wanted to start from scratch only in case. Next time I try to install I will follow all your suggestions and hope this time is the good. I can't understand why this has been so complicate, for sure there is a small little thing I' m not doing right and voila the trouble starts.
I let you know how it goes and I hope this situation help others.
I'll be back you soon
Rosie

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
OK, Rosie.
Did you see my last edit about SleepyHead Versions? You should be transferring data between two like version. That is if you are downloading SH 9.8-1 onto the new computer, the old computer should also be running 9.8-1.
After working through this process, I can see there could be questions about what to do after downloading and extracting sleepyhead on to the new machine. Probably the easiest and most comfortable is to run it and set up a "test" user as I mentioned in the last long post, after the test user is set up, close SleepyHhead and delete the SleepyHeadData-testing folder that this just created and proceed as in my last long post (quoted below)
Good luck!
This test was done using SleepyHead 9.8 From a Win 10 Machine to a Vista machine.
1. Copy the SleepyHeaddata testing File from Documents on the first Computer to Documents on the second computer.
2. Copy the Sleepyhead Program files from the first computer to any location on the second computer.
3. Run the SleepyHead Program by clicking on the executable in the program folder

WHY, did you download again?rosacer wrote:I erased sleepyhead and all data from the new computer. I copied the data from the old computer following your instructions, I pasted it in the documents. I went to sleepyhead site to download again ...
I'm not sure what's going on here. But you shouldn't have needed to download SleepyHead again.
The general steps are:
1. Download and install Sleepyhead to the new computer.2. On the new computer with SleepyHead closed, delete only the SleepyHeadData-testing file that was just created in your Documents folder.
- You don't have to create a profile, but if you do, make it simple, with a name like "NewTest", just enter the name and no more.
3. Copy and Paste the old SleepyHeadData-testing file from the old computer Documents folder to the new computer Documents Folder.
- Don't delete any other SleepyHead files.
4. If it doesn't work here, stop. Don't download again. We have to figure out why it doesn't work.
- That's it. You don't need to download SleepyHead again.
I think you're creating two profiles which is what's causing the extra Lock file. Don't create a Rosie profile when you download Sleepyhead to the new computer and don't download SleepyHead to the new computer if you've already copied a SleepyHeadData-Testing file to it.
As an alternative method:
Download SH to the new computer Don't create any profiles.
Copy the individual profile folders from inside the old Profile Folder in SleepyHeadData-Testing on the old computer to inside the new Profile Folder inside the new SleepyHeadData-testing Folder on the new computer.
And, it's possible I suppose, that there is problem that has been overlooked in the above procedures
Yes, as Kevin says any SD card should work. It's getting hard to find small ones (2gig) any more. 4, 8, or larger should be fine.
Edit: Please note that this method can not be used for upgrade. If the old computer is running SH 9.6 you can't copy and paste into 9.8, for example. Also note, that this method has not been rigorously tested. I have tested it with an W7 archived file to the same computer with W10 and it appears to work and it seems that it should, but that is no guarantee that it will. Jay
Edit II: Rosie, What version of Sleepyhead do you have on your old computer? If it's not 9.8-1, You probably need to upgrade the old computer to that before trying to do the transfer. Should have asked that sooner

2. Copy the Sleepyhead Program files from the first computer to any location on the second computer.

- a. the first run may require Running as System Administrator
b. the first run may not find the data file and ask to create one, Say yes.

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
Hi Jay,
I was reading your mind
I haven't seen the Edit about SH version, I was going to write to ask if it couldn't be the root of my problem I just waked up about my prehistoric version of SH on the old computer. Yeah I have v0.9.2 That should be the small thing we were seeking for.
I upgrade the old computer and then I start again to see what happens.
I"ll be back in one hour my data takes long to copy.
EDIT: What's the best way (less riskier) to update SH? There is not an automatic up-grader. I'm afraid of losing the data I think I have become a bit crazy.

Just install the latest version of SleepyHead. Your old SH version will remain untouched on your old computer.

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
Pugsy,
You will not believe me. I downloaded SH, I extract it, I runned OpenGL as administrator. A window ask if I allow the program to make changes to my computer, I say yes. Then I see the sand thingy a couple of seconds and then nothing. No SH installed anywhere.
I send the sheep to the desktop, I click on it, same questions and then nothing. ????
I tried the 32 and 64 versions, I deleted what I had downloaded before trying the second, I have no clue what the hell is going on. This is unbelievable. I think the problem with the new computer is because of the incompatibility of versions but, now how to install the new version on the old computer.
Something simple has become soooo complicated, that's why I HATE to work with computer's installs and that kind of shit ! Two weeks ago I had a 2 hours combat to install a shitty Brother printer, I had received an error message while the installation (on this same computer) then the printer at the end of all was not showing on the list of printers, I needed to delete all and start again. I wonder if this computer is full of crap (registers or else) making my life hard.
Anyway enough for today.

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
You don't need to run as administrator. Try the BrokenGL version.rosacer wrote:Pugsy,

You might try this guide for the install process.
The current SleepyHead "install" process doesn't create an icon for you to click. You always have to click on the SleepyHead-OpenGL or SleepyHead-BrokenGL file. Unless you create a launch icon on your desktop as explained in my guide mentioned above.

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
On the processes it was SH running, two of them, I did End Task for both. I clic again on the Open and nothing. There is nothing on the Task Manager.
While trying to start SH the computer freezed weird as if there is a conflict with something, I don't know how it happened the desktop background changed (it should be the Pugsy aliens are here).
There is only the new version 32 bits. Not working, I clic on it and it makes only a couple of seconds the sand thing and that's it nothing arrives after that. Tried the Borken and the Open, nothing.
I also renamed the old SH, could it be the reason?
EDIT: Win 10 is ready to be installed on my old computer since yesterday I think; I just get 2 windows which opened advertising how AWESOME AND MARVELOUS it is and remembering me I can upgrade if I want. I really hope that is not the reason of my problems to make run SH

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
EditIII: A tested method of transferring SleepyHead from one computer to another.
EDIT II: Rosie, read this but jump down and read the following posts by Pugsy and me before continuing.
Good Morning Rosie,
Sorry you are having so much trouble.
For the upgrade on the old computer, don't rename the old SleepyHeadData-Test file, but do make a copy of it and save it somewhere like the desktop just in case.
Edit: Read over the stuff below, but before downloading again you might try, after correcting the name of the SleephHeadData-testing file, running SH again to see what happens.
I don't think the computer being ready to upgrade to 10 has anything to do with it, except it may have been downloading the large files for it (there's the W10 file and about 4 large updates to it) while you were trying to upgrade SH and all the activity was bogging down your computer.
So, I would take a deep breath, relax and start over. First restart the old computer. Make sure it running alright not counting SH. Correct the name of the SLeepyHeadData-testing file then make a copy of the it and save it somewhere. You could name it CopySleepyHeadData-testing if you want. Let's call the SleepyHeadData-testing file SHDT, OK? I'm really getting tired of typing that name SleepyHeadData-testing = SHDT
Now let's try downloading again. But first, where are you putting SleepyHead when you download and extract it? It really doesn't matter, but if you extract stuff to your download folder it starts to get a little messy after awhile. For programs, I extract them to the Programs Files (x86) file. You could also use your documents folder or the desktop. To avoid confusion, you may want to clean up previously downloaded SH program files (Not the SHDT file) by moving them to a new folder for later deletion.
If your computer is running Win7 and it's Win10 capable then it's most likely running at 64 bit and you could use that version of SH, but 32 would work too, doesn't matter. You seem to be having troubles with the downloads, maybe it's the source? Follow Archangle's links in his signature above for a good source. Or, if you've been using that, follow Pugsy's link to for a Self Extracting version https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead .
Now if everything is cleaned up and the computer seems to be operating OK, no virus scans or backups running and the SHDT file is properly named and in place, let's try another download.
What happens?
So here's a question for those following this thread. Can Rosie go from 9.2 to 9.8 or does she have to go to 9.6 first?

Re: Installing Sleepyhead on Win 10
I don't know. I didn't realize that she wasn't using 9.8-1. 9.2 was upgradable to 9.3xx I think but after that each version was simply a new version and I just let it be a separate program each time.Jay Aitchsee wrote:Can Rosie go from 9.2 to 9.8 or does she have to go to 9.6 first?
As I have tried each new SH version I haven't worried about "old" data being included because I have the old data in either Encore or ResScan depending on which machine I was using and I had the old SH versions still on my computer if I wanted to see what was in there but as time has gone by I have found that I don't ever really need the old data so I started just removing the older SH versions.
Now I just tried my SH 0.9.8-1 version which I guess came out in August of last year. The only older data on it is from March 2014 forward. I don't have anything else but then I didn't try to bring anything forward because I still had a 9.6 and 9.7 at the time.
So what I will bring over to the Windows 10 laptop is just going to be the 0.9.8-1 stuff. I don't really care about the other older SH stuff but then I have that old stuff in Encore and ResScan.
It's going to be after the 11th before I go get Windows 10 on the new laptop which already has SleepyHead 9.8-1 on it.
