I had just opened my studio about 6 months before I started to get really sick. I could only handle one session (my glamour sessions ran 3 hrs) then the next 2 days I would be completely worn out. After my lease was up, I decided to close down, it broke my heart. I miss showing women how beautiful they can be, how the right makeup and lighting can make anyone beautiful. They got to see how Hollywood women look just like them in real life. It did wonders for the self esteem of young and old. People just don't realize how average stars really look.
I must say though I don't miss working with "wanna-be models" who were giant pains in the butt. At least insects and spiders don't complain or jerk your chain. That dragonfly pic is probably my most cherished since I had to commune with them for so long before they would let me get that close to them, about 3 weeks. That lens is basically a microscope on a camera, meaning you have to be within an 1 1/2" to take your shot. There is no zoom, if you are too far away all you see is blur. Tracking insects, oh my, that take time to master with that lens. Forget about breathing, you breathe and you have lost your shot (damn maybe that is where I learned to stop breathing....hmmmm). It took me almost a year to get a decent shot with that lens. So that dragonfly allowing me to get that close and allow me to take several pics was an amazing feeling. And I know you won't believe me, but after that one trusted me, it was like all of them (in my yard) started trusting me to get close. The only problem with macro photography it is physically demanding. Not only to you spend a lot of time on the ground (boy the looks I used to get ) but the lens weighs a ton as well as my camera (plus the huge flash), which is why I cannot do it right now.
Okay back to my medical, you are going to be mad at me. I don't think I can do the blood gases. I went in today for my blood work and went to cardiopulm to ask questions (after 2 "friends" had to share blood gas horror stories with me). I wanted to see if they numbed the wrist first. Well the tech couldn't talk because she had a patient waiting. While she was getting ready for this patient, she shared how here previous ABG tests were in other states (she just moved here- poor thing!!) and how they numbed the wrist and it hurt a little but not too bad. Then she went back with the tech to have hers done here. Well apparently they don't numb here and the way that poor woman screamed and the fact the tech didn't get it in the first and second try, well I didn't wait to ask any questions, I about ran out of there. Plus my doctor didn't write on the order whether I had to be on room air or oxygen. Even though she already told me while on oxygen it had to be on the order, so that saved me too . I am thinking since it hasn't been done yet, what is the problem waiting til I get to Denver, right , knowing my luck they would just screw it up here anyways.
I did get signed up with the patient portal while at the hospital and I noticed there was blood work in my record that wasn't in my doctors record packet for Denver. It was the blood work that I had for my heart cath and I noticed something that seemed odd. My INR was 0.8 and according to this lab normal is 2.0-3.5. My PT time was 9.5 sec. Does this mean anything? Just wondering with the whole right leg edema thing. Maybe the labs normal ranges are just off. I will let you know as soon as the new results get posted, they hold them for 72 hours so the doctor can view them first then release them on the portal.
Thanks again for everything.
