Re: Machine Question re Bathroom Break

Post by OlRedHair » Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:39 am

Until till last night I have been doing well with my new CPAP machine. Generally my AHI is between one and two. But for some reason last night it was 15.8. And I feel like crap this morning. Any insight into what could’ve caused a single night to be so bad?

Thank you so much!

No idea without seeing the detailed data as to what happened and what kind of events and when they occurred.

I’m not sure how to produce that. When I look at the LED screen of my unit, it just shows the hours slept, the AHI, the mask fit, and periodic breathing. It doesn’t show what occurred when.

It's really unimportant whether you shut it off or leave it running. It's more important whether or not you remove the mask. My preference is to leave the mask on and just disconnect the hose from the mask. Use the method that requires the least "doing."

The reasons for turning off the machine or leaving it on probably have more to do with the other person sleeping in your bedroom than with yourself. For instance if the blowing disturbs your bedmate, turn it off. If turning it off and on again results in a bright display (and that disturbs your bedmate), leave it on.

Also, as has already been requested, please fill in your equipment profile.

Thanks so much for the info. Yes the bright light is very disturbing when turning the machine off and on. I already filled out my equipment profile. I’m not sure why it’s not displaying. I’ll have to go back and check it out again. I’m not really very computer savvy. So I will do the best I can.

Hello OlRedHair!

In order to get the help you are looking for, you'll need to provide more information as a few others have requested. It may seem overwhelming to get to the point where you are able to provide the graphs from OSCAR, which is what the good people here need in order to interpret what's going on in your particular situation, but if you follow the instructions you'll be able to do it. If I can, anyone can! Zonker is very helpful and there are plenty of people on this forum who will talk you through it, but you have to take that first step yourself.

Start by following the links in Zonker's signature. If you get stuck ask for help. This forum can provide the kind of help that will make or break your experience with CPAP, but no one can help you if you don't provide the data they need.

I think you have maybe turned off a setting that allows us to see your equipment.

Check to see if you have no or yes in the area I have circled. Don't forget to click "submit" if you change it.

Thank you. I have that corrected about allowing other users to view info. Now I’ll have to try to find Zonker and the links. I really have no idea what I’m doing.

Can you please look on the bottom of your blower and tell use the model number you see?
It will start with DSX followed by 3 numbers and then maybe some random letters. Need to know those 3 numbers.
If you have the machine chosen in your profile no sense in downloading OSCAR because the machine doesn't gather anything for OSCAR to show you.

Hopefully you just have selected the wrong machine model.

I’m confused. First of all I have no idea what Oscar is. And second of all one person said don’t bother with Oscar and the other said to download Oscar.

I will go check the model number in a minute.

Right now I am overwhelmed. It’s just a little too much for my nearly 70-year-old brain.

OSCAR is a software product that is based on another software product called SleepyHead that will enable a person to see the detailed data their machine collects

IF big if...the machine collects/records the detailed data.

You have chosen a model machine in your profile that doesn't record detailed data...maybe you just chose the wrong machine..it happens all the time but if you really have that model machine then the reason I told you not to bother is because there's no data being recorded for OSCAR or SleepyHead to show you.

So you can see examples of what we are talking about..

So I sent the picture with the info about my machine. I’m hoping it is a model that collects data. At the VA, where I was issued the machine they said that they would monitor me remotely. So it should be collecting something.
