Encore:missing Saturday,can't delete,machine can't read card

Post by svh » Sun Oct 29, 2006 7:42 am

So, when I tried to get my data for last night, it had only my compliance. I have been downloading my data daily. I understand that the card can only hold 6-7 days of detailed data. Does it not delete the old to make room for the new, automatically? In case not, I tried to delete the info on the card this morning, and got an error message--it wouldn't let me delete. (It says: Error communicating with smart card, respironics smart card 2 type 0.1, 8004020B) What should I do? I am addicted to my data!

Hello svh,

There is a problem that some of us have noticed with the M series not recording the data for Saturday nights (I get no data as if not used at all). I now delete before Saturday night. I have contacted Respironics about this but have not heard back.

Someone else said they can not delete data either. I do not have this problem so I am not sure how to deal with it.

How are you trying to delete the data.
Are you doing it when downloading the data?
Does the program ask you to delete when you down load your data?

I can do this, I will do this.

All along, I have been answering no to the do you want to delete question, as I am downloading data. Today, I thought I had downloaded the data as usual, but only later realized that the data I was viewing was yesterday's. After that, I read the forum, saw the Saturday problem, and tried to delete the data on the card, by going to utilities on encore pro and choosing erase. That's when I got the error message, saying to check my connection (which is clearly fine--I checked). It's as though it doesn't even see the card at all. Did we somehow erase the card completely?

When I try to put the card back in the machine, it just keeps beeping and shows a picture of a card with an X in it.

Now what?

svh,

Intresting question.

I have never deleted from there. Only from the download option of erasing data.

Go back to your name and try to down load the card like you usually do and see what it give you. May say not the same patient, or does not recognise it or no data on the card. (I know there is a way to put your name on the card. I did it once now to figure it out again.)
I can do this, I will do this.

Opps.

I got that once. I took it out and put it back in and it worked, I have no idea why it did it. Did you try it a couple of times.

We get an error message now when we try to download from the card. Also tried the setup in encore pro, and when it gets to the point where it warns you it will erase, then we say OK, and then get the error that it cannot communicate with the smart card, and to check the connections.

svh,

Did it ask you if it is going to the same person? I am trying to figure out if it is the connection or not. Put it in and take it out again.

As for the error going into the machine: Is your pressure settings etc set on the machine or on your card. Did you buy the Pro on line or get it from an DME?

I can do this, I will do this.

1. I bought from the local dme, and I have changed my pressure settings on the machine.

2. With the card in the reader, encore pro does ask the same questions it did before. The light on the reader is still green through all this, and changes to red after the error.

3. We have taken it in and out numerous times, and I tried putting it in the machine (as opposed to the card reader) several times, and still get the non-stop beeping, meaning I won't be able to put it in tonight to record data....

OK, I had to put my card back in the reader and check it out.

When putting the card in, light goes green, then turns red if left in for a while.
Green while reading data, then back to red.
Conclusion: Green reading card, do not touch the card. Red card can be removed.

When you go to smart card utilities, where you said you erased the card, what do you see in the preview? setup?

I can do this, I will do this.

In preview, patient name and ID are blank (they always have been, I think), and the model number and serial number are filled in correctly.

In setup, it has patient name and ID, which I think is from Encore pro, not the card, but who knows....Smart card display text is blank, but I think it always has been.

So does that mean there is nothing wrong with the reader (USB) and the card, and maybe there is something wrong with the machine or the card writer on the machine?

Then again, I can be off.

Without the card in the Pro2. What settings are on your Pro2? Do you know how to check your Pro2 settings?

The settings remain as I last set them on my M-series pro machine. It seems fine, apart from rejecting the encore pro card....

OK there goes my thought of maybe the pro needed the settings on the card.

svh, I have no other idea what it can be.

Thank you so much for trying so hard to help. I really do appreiate it. I guess I'll have to call my dme tomorrow and ask if they have any ideas. Of course, they'll be just delighted to hear I've been chinging my own settings, reading my own card, and then ruining it! We'll see how helpful they are! If they have nothing to offer me, I'll try getting a new card, I guess.
