svh, your welcome. I am sorry I could not have helped you.

You can try writing your name and putting it in. Or anything else that comes to mind. I do not see why the card would not work. Hopefully it is not the Pro itself and it happens to be a coincidence it happened at the same time.
I can do this, I will do this.

My disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever worked in the health care field Just my personal opinions.

Any time I try to do anything to the card, it gives an error: when I try to erase, when I try to add stuff in the setup (fill in the blank fields). The reader can tell there is a card in it, but it cannot seem to communicate with the card. I think the card is somehow corrupted, maybe, and that is why it can't be read or written, and why the Pro M cannot read it? Just my uneducated guess.

If you can go into the "Setup" portion of the utilities, put your "Patient number" (probably 01) in the top line and your name as it is in the "Patient name" in the program in the next line in the card setup. It will erase whatever is on the card, but if you haven't been able to get it downloaded, this is about your only alternative. Then try inserting it in your machine and see if it's OK in there.

Good luck,

The infromation you describe is already there: patient 1 and my name. When encore pro setup asks permission to erase the card, I say yes, click and it comes back with the error message I described.

Have you done an "Erase card" and THEN "Setup"?
If you do a complete erase, it doesn't necessarily have to have your name and patient number in the card......but does bring up a second question to answer during the download phase.

Re-inserting card in cardreader?

I know this problem has been addressed before on the forum and it seems that eventually something has worked to get past it.

I had the same problem last week, I reinstalled Encore pro that didn't help then I disconnected the usb cable from the pc then rebooted the pc then plugged the reader into another port on the pc and thats when it let me erase the card and now it's working fine. I have no idea why.

I cannot do anything to the card at all--erase, setup, download. I have reinserted it numberous times. When I put it into the CPAP machine now, it just beeps continuously and shows a little picture of a card with an X on it.

I will now try buckeyered's suggestion and see if that helps!

Thanks!

What about the usual process, assuming I get myself out of this trouble--should I delete manually on Saturdays, or is the card meant to automatically delete old stuff to make room for new?

Sarah,

You should never HAVE to erase the card. It'll automatically overwrite the oldest detailed data (about 6 nights worth) and store about 6 - 10 months worth of compliance information.

With regard to what buckeyered mentioned, if you've moved your USB cable to a different port than the one it was installed in.....move it back to the port where it was installed.

Good luck.

I have been using it for a year and this has never happened before now.

No luck. It didn't help. Perhaps there's just something wrong with the card....

Sorry I don't know what else to try. If your DME can let you borrow a card to see if encore can read it that would tell you if your card is bad or if there is a problem with the reader. Good Luck

Very odd indeed as I had a similar problem last night. When I got up and downloaded my data it was missing from about 11:30p-6am. This was the first of two sessions of the night as I got up and had a drink of water at about 6am. The next session from 6-9am was fine. This is the first time that I have had missing data.

Interesting, I saw this same error for the first time yesterday. I however was able to correct it by pulling the SmartCard of out the USB reader and reinserting it.

Sadly, that did not do the trick here, and my MIT PhD (in electrical engineering/computer science no less) husband has about had it. I'll have to call the DME tomorrow and request another card. We'll see how that goes.

It just seems like it should be easier than this.

Hi Den,

For people with Series M, the reason for erasing, is because for some reason Saturday night will not record detailed daily events, if there are seven sessions on the card. If the card is left alone, then Sunday will record normally erasing a session from the older ones.

I have yet to figure out the fix for that.

svh, I guess the rest of us should not feel to bad if your husband can't figure it out.
