ComfortLite 2 Slipping

Post by Treesap » Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:12 am

A very gracious person on this forum gave me a ComfortLite 2. I have tried it, but it slips off my head because my hair is too silky. I can't even adjust the straps on the top without pulling the dang thing off.

Does anyone have suggestions to this?

Velcro. Think of Velcro rollers...

I went to the dollar store, bought sticky velcro and threw away the loop part. This works, but beware of the fact that there are different types (strengths?) of Velcro. If you have a very tender head, you may want to ask at fabric stores for the lightest strength...it does exist, although maybe not in sticky-back form.

The hook part will adhere to your headgear when doubled on itself. Then I cut the strip in half lengthwise and adjusted the dimensions until it seemed to be doing the job. One advantage to the Velcro is that it is not permanent; the strips can be moved, removed, and modified to suit the user.

I had 3 small pieces on my CL 2 headgear: one was about 1.5 inches, and the other two were maybe 0.75 inches. Your head of hair may require a variation of those sizes.

I also tied a pantyhose (or opaque pantyhose, or tights) leg onto the adjustment tube, and tied it behind my head with a flat knot. This served to help stabilize that side-to-side movement of the "nasal interface" or the pillows, Direct Seal, or Simple Seal--whatever you use.
