My CL2 fishing tackle fix

Post by sleepyWI » Fri Feb 02, 2007 8:11 pm

Here is my version of the "garbage tie" fix for the CL2. I tried using the garbage ties and they kept slipping. I had seen another pic on here using fishing line so I opened up my tackle box and came up with this. Two small snap swivels and a piece of braided fishing line (20 lb test Spyderwire...for those lunkers). Getting the length right was a bit of trial and error but the braided line has the advantage that it does not stretch and the knots do not slip.

And it looks nifty too! Thanks for posting the photo! I will save it with gearheads photo's of his garbage tie fixes. When I figure out what to do about a humidifier I will order a box of stuff and I will be ready to make sure any new cusions/pillows etc. that I get for the CL2 will fit. Belonging to this list has changed my life. I know that sounds silly but it is indeed true.

But don't talk to me about "lunkers". I'm having withdrawal symtoms down here. But hopefully I can get a few days of fishing in this month. But I don't use braid, I prefer fluorocarbon. Oh, just talking about it turns me to jello. .....

Nice picture - but next time I want to see the lunker.

Is anyone on this forum an orthodontist? Or anyone related to one.
SWI's swivels have got me thinking. Orthodontists use tiny turnbuckles
for some of their work. If the swivels were replaced with tiny turnbuckles,
it would be adjustable.

I think I'll incorporate the snaps on my next garbage bag tye job. That
is, unless your patent lawyer objects...

Great job,
OGH

Gearhead.....I think the answer might be at our local RC airplane hobby shop. They have tiny turnbuckles used for the control rods on RC models....and I looked at them....before opting for your garbage-can-tie method.

Your method ain't as pretty......but "git 'er done" has a certain attraction for me.

Oldgearhead, you have done it again!

Tiny turnbuckles...adjustable...with the ease of the twist ties...

Way to go.

nothing special about the photo .... I used my digital Sony Handicam in still mode. Just the ambient lighting in my bedroom. Does this mean I have talent? LOL.

I am having trouble with the CL2 I got months ago. I've read all the fixes and tips and praises for this mask but still can't get it right. I know nothing about fishing equipment and wouldn't have a clue what pieces to get. You think if I brought the picture along the sales associate would look at it and wonder what the heck I'm going fishing for?

They are called snap swivels and they come in small bags of 10 or so. Cost maybe a buck or two. They come in different sizes, I forget what size they are but they are on the small side. Any kind of fishing line would do. Heck, sewing thread would probably work just fine.

Bonnie, if you have a bait and tackle store you can go to...bring the nasal pillow and picture with you, and they can probably make the assembly for you.
These guys are so good at rigging stuff up it will probably take all of 5 minutes, and they will probably only charge you for parts used.
