This will be the only site I will be using. Plus seeing links, that is an bonus for a lot more information.
It was my evil twin sister All jokes aside, not being able to post links was absurd. One time, I told someone to google cpap.com and that was moderated out for violating the rules. It just became exhausting in trying to write a helpful post that wouldn't violate the rules.
Welcome to the club of us banned from ASAA for trying to help others.
Thanks Oak!
49er... consider yourself in good company. Definitely reminds me of another "board". You haven't lost anything. Ha... maybe the same people are moderating both boards.

When I first knew I would need cpap, I started googling. Luckily, this board was one of the first I found.
I have momentarily lurked at least one other board; and found this one to be more active, more informative,
and way more honest than any other.
I also cruised the Internet for online vendors, and found our hosts to have the easiest sales site to maneuver.
It totally spoiled me for doing business with the local guys, and especially the chains.

Same here. I shudder to think where I would be had I NOT found this board and the wonderful people on it. The heavily moderated boards wouldn't have done squat for me, that's for sure.

When a healthcare industry's chief interest is in self preservation, rather than providing the service entrusted to it,
then something is very wrong. When banks and insurance companies behave this way, at least we can expect it.
(after all a snake is a snake)
I agree that products and services need to be billed separately; and qualifications of the paid providers
of the service need to be regulated; and I add, these services need to be independent of marketing pressures,
but as long as these services are not being offered during the hours they are actually needed,
then volunteers need to be encouraged, not given a slap in the face.

so having the codes there still does not address the QUALITY of service in this field. (which sucks)
The insurance companies could require you to sign off on a paper with a list of subjects.

yes, but the insurance company (at least mine) doesn't seem to even care about the charges, let alone the quality. I alerted mine to the charges above and also that they billed for an extra humidifier (1 month AFTER I got my setup) and they paid both claims anyway. In my opinion, the DME's and some of the medical providers will find a way to cheat the system no matter how much regulation there is. I have had medical providers for other health conditions and I have never seen these things I am seeing with apnea/sleep medicine. thats why its great this forum is here!

After a snide, snippy PM from a moderator on the other board, I fired them.

One of the moderators, Vicki, wanted to know why I wasn't posting my responses publicly so I explained via PM that if I did so, i would violate guidelines. I guess giving people websites in PMs is a violation of their rules.

I know, I should have checked and so forth and so on but I guess I simply got tired of all their BS. It is for the best since I was spending way too much time on the site. But I am very saddened for all the people on that place who won't get the help they need.

I guess my question for ASAA is why do you exist if all you are going to is implement rules that make it impossible to help other people?

Anyway, I thank you all for contributing to making this the great board that it is.

In case you're not aware, some of those "moderators" got their feet wet on this forum before that one got off the ground.
The irony was how some of them heaped praises on this forum and CPAP(dot)COM while they were here, but once they started moderating that one, where the manufacturers were funding the site, they did a complete "180" and started bad-mouthing these sites and the owners. Talk about hypocrites!

There were other Apnea forums that existed before and after this one, but most of them are now "ghost towns". This one's the "real deal".

Interesting, Den. Were they ever called out about this on the ASAA forum?
(Would love to know their usernames when they were here )

Do not post links to clinician menus or similar menus not authorized for access by manufacturers; these sorts of posts will be moderated.

That is from the ASAA board rules. Those few words speak volumes. I haven't seen ONE person on this board who advocates going without medical treatment. If treatment isn't available for a poster with questions, people do what they can to help.

Ridiculous.

The same as they are over there (with the possible exception of the one with Multiple Personality Disorder)(or not).

Well......as I seem to recall......(ahem)..... .......before they required registering to post, some "Guest" posted a whole bunch of posts by "Mikesus" from this forum over on that forum. They promptly got "moved" to some remote subcategory where they couldn't be discussed or further challenged by that "Guest". But, the point was made.

I was also just reviewing a post I remembered "Snoredog" making in a thread titled "Spam Reporting and Abuse Policy".
Here's the link if you copy and take out the spaces.

Free masks plus lots of other perks... makes ya do a "180" real quick like. But, I'm certainly not accusing them of anything like that.

Um... ladies and gents... I wasn't joking...
