That is a very good point Madalot. I keep forgetting that people do this but SWA47 definitely is one who causes havoc on the forum. So no, I don't think you are wrong.

I just think the next time this person posts, ignore what is written and warn any people not familiar with the behavior to not respond. I know it is easier said than done but when someone like this doesn't have anyone to play the game with them, it no longer ceases to be fun.
Exactly. I hate watching good people waste time trying to help. And so help me, if SWA's medical issues are legitimate, I DO feel for him. But there comes a point that nobody, not even his own doctors, can help if he doesn't get off the self pity, poor me wagon and start helping himself.

Nobody deserves to be sick. I sure don't deserve what has been dumped on me. But I try not to spend too much time dwelling in self pity. I have my moments, but as John Fisher suggests, I DO try to turn it around and help others if I can. Not always easy or possible, but it does help if a person can find a way to stop feeling sorry for themselves.

49er... I agree with what Maddie has said, I was around when she was targeted by a poser on this forum. The person claimed to be someone he was not and caused much dissention and harm... especially to Maddie. I said the same thing about swa17 awhile ago, he or she used much of the same tactics as this other person. Try reading posts by a spammer named Calist..... actually he had registered with several names and stories.

That sounds like a horrible situation. But I guess that is a negative we have to tolerate when having an unmoderated board. I would rather deal with this vs the moderated apnea board that greatly limits what can be discussed. Anyway, when I get a chance, I will go back search for those posts just out of curiosity.

It was pretty ugly. I made it through and was able to continue participating here. Not everyone was so fortunate. I know of one person that was taken in by an alias (a female alias that friended this member) and felt so betrayed, stopped particating on this forum. A loss the forum and a victory to the trolls that want to cause exactly that type of thing.

Okay...I'll stick with Madalot.

But to reiterate, the name had NOTHING to do with my sleep apnea or medical conditions. It stemmed from a family situation that was pissing me off back in 2005. The name just stuck and was easy for me to remember.

Me too except my therapy was so good and I slept so well that I actually woke up during my waking hours and realized that the American Dream had turned into the American Nightmare. So much for my optimism and expectations for hope and cuteness huh? And I'm just mad that so few take to this therapy for sleep and yet fail to fully wake up.

I agree. I know a few people with children with trachs. I also grew up with a girl with a trach. SWA kept saying he was trached JUST for sleep apnea. And it's not done. SWA also said he 'found' a surgeon who would do it for him.

the whole thing sounds bizarre

It's taken me a very long time to find settings that are giving me decent sleep and allowing me to feel halfway decent during the day. At one point during my 3+ years struggling, one of my Respiratory Therapists (yes, I've had a lot of them over the years) suggested that it might be time to consider a trach. My husband and I DID discuss it, briefly, but decided we would only do that as an absolute last resort. Our definition of "last resort" is that I can't breathe on my own at all and a trach is the only way to keep me alive.

And I plan on fighting that to my last breath (no pun intended).

So SWA's alleged trach kind of insults me since it is a real possibility for me in the future and I'm determined to postpone it as long as I can.
