Ok, I put the offsite viewer on my computer and had it open and working fine a minute ago - now it won't open at all. . .gah. Any idea of how I might have broken it?

Headbands are a good point. If you have a Zeo now, you'll eventually run out of headbands.

You're well stocked up
Do we know what kind of battery is inside these units?
Is it one that will go bad sooner if not used for a long period of time. Would it be better to rotate through your supply so that each headband gets a battery charge every so often?

I'm trying to decide on getting another 3 pack.

I'm not really afraid of the battery because you could always come up with something to power the headband unit. I'll take it apart one of these days to see whats in it. Maybe it'll be ok to glue in a rechargeable AAA battery or rig something together when the time comes. Who knows.

But the replacement headbands do not have any batteries or electronics. They are just sensor pads and headband straps. The hard plastic shell with a battery inside is reused.

Someone already hoarded all the replacement electronic/battery modules...There were a few available when I checked the other day I didn't buy any myself and probably wont.

Did you get it working? If not, you might try removing all old versions of JAVA and downloading the latest version (java.com). If the viewer doesn't open, you might try "open with" and browse to javaw.exe. Also, review the instructions about where the the data and viewer is saved and loading the data for the first time.

I have the view working, but it won't take the data from the data card - it doesn't see it. I'm catching up on stuff today for work since I took most of yesterday off - but hopefully tomorrow I'll put a more detailed description of what's going on so that maybe I can get some help to get it actually working.

Thank you, Jay for asking.

One more thing, to see if the data has been unencrypted, try opening Zeo.Dat file on the card with notepad. If your data is unencrypted, you should be able to read it, though it won't make much sense. If you can't open the Dat file, check the software setting on the bedside unit is 2.6.3O (press settings and then the rt arrow 8 times), if not, follow the steps to update the firmware again.

I think I could be classified as a hoarder now.

I just picked up a new bedside unit as a spare or for parting out. It cost the same as a full face mask so its not too bad.

The data is not encrypted, and the software is correct on the uint. (2.6.3O)

When I get a chance, I'll post some screen pics of what happens when I try to load it . . .and how I'm loading it. Maybe someone here has some insight.
I'll also post sample of the data. I can read the word 'sleep' here and there in the data. . . no funky weird characters as far as encryption is concerned. . .just normal data weirdness.

I thought about doing that as well - haven't had the nerve to do it, yet though. . .don't think I can actually justify the going price at the moment. . . unless you know of someone who is selling for cheaper than 300 - 400 bucks.

I did buy an extra transmitter, extra headbands and an extra power cord, though.

OH.MY.WORD: $662.98 at sears!

“It’s hard to find the right place to market these new products, once you are beyond the early adopters who don’t require much education,” says Dave Dickinson, most recently the chief executive of Zeo, a Newton start-up that made a bedside system to monitor sleep quality. Then there’s the issue of trying to sell products at a price that will appeal to consumers, and giving retail partners their cut.

The result, says Dickinson, is “a tightrope walk over a river of alligators.” Zeo laid off its last 12 employees in December, and Dickinson is now trying to sell its assets.

The sleep monitoring start-up Zeo had its own Hollywood moment when morning show host Regis Philbin tried out its system on the air in 2009. But just two days after Sookbox displayed its product at the Spirit Awards last month, Zeo co-founder Benjamin Rubin held “a company wake,” at his South Boston condo. About 40 people who’d once worked at Zeo showed up.

Maybe it is encrypted and I just thought it wasn't? The only discernible word I see on it is the word 'sleep'. everything else is in symbols. Maybe it isn't as un-encrypted as I thought.

I just tried to open my viewer and it decided to stop working.

I did reverse the process (put the original v2.6.3) back on my zeo, then started over again. My card is wiped for the time being, so I can't test it again until tomorrow. Heh. . .but I can't test it any way, until I get the viewer up and running again.

(Should I threaten my 'puter with a WIPE??!!)

EDIT: Threatening it with THE WIPE - worked. . . the viewer is now working.

Wish Brookstone produced the stuff the market - the Zeo would fit right in with their product line.

Just being able to open it means it's unencrypted. A few recognizable words and a lot of symbols is what you should see. Nothing useful. It still needs to be decoded by the Zeo viewer or the website.
Tomorrow, after you've gathered some data, you can try again. You should insert the card from the bedside unit into the pc, open the viewer, go to the viewer "File" in the upper left and select "load Dat file". A navigation box should open, browse to your sd card and select the Zeo.Dat file and it should load to the viewer.
Good luck,
J
