Apparently Hostess products are about the only thing you can't make worse for you by deep frying according to my FB friends!

Hostess went thru a bankruptcy, regrouping in 2011 and was bought out by two hedge funds ... its the two hedge funds milking the quality brand and selling it off piece by piece to suck every last bit of life out of the Hostess brand. Sorta like Mitt Romney and Bain Capitol. Get in, get all the money, get out while the getting's good. IF the union had given up everything and agreed to minimum wage, no benefits, the end would have resulted the same.

I don't care about Hostess. I really don't. I think I may have eaten one Twinkie in my 53 years and if I recall correctly, it made me sick, as did the Bugles a 3rd grade friend shared with me on the school bus. I threw up.
If there is a market for their product, someone will fill it. It's not like x number of loaves of bread will not be produced or purchaced because they go bankrupt.

I tasted a Twinkie once and hated it.It had a disgusting taste! All I remember about Twinkies is that they were claimed to be the basis for an insanity defense in that San Francisco murder case years ago, when somebody murdered the mayor while allegedly high on Twinkies!

But when I was a little kid, I did like their ten cent cream-filled chocolate cupcakes. Too much.

And before the cream-filled ones came out, I did like to follow the adventures of Toofer A Nickel in the newspaper comics.

I guess I should run out and buy all the twinkies and ding dongs from the local stores and sell them at profiteering prices to all the junkies having their Hostess withdrawal.

If the company in this article would pan out, it might not be too bad. Their bread doesn't have high fructose corn syrup and some other junk in it, yet it's a good product http://www.forbes.com/sites/abrambrown/ ... ed-brands/

But while headlines have been quick to blame unions for the downfall of the company there’s actually more to the story: While the company was filing for bankruptcy, for the second time, earlier this year, it actually tripled its CEO’s pay, and increased other executives’ compensation by as much as 80 percent.
Don't forget the Gold Braid for all the top management, the cost for Golden Parachutes is up this year, maybe the government can pull a little money from Social Security, and bail them out. Jim

I think you're too late. The profiteers already got all of them. They're going for $10-$30 per box of 10 on eBay and Craigslist. There's even an auction on eBay for 3 boxes that is at $124.50.

Anyone who would pay $124.50 for 3 boxes of twinkies deserves them. What do they intend to do... frame them?

If one does one's homework and eats advisedly, it's not likely that Hostess products are a common item. (If so, that's fine, I make no judgements).

In my case, I haven't enjoyed a Hostess product in several decades. That said, I hate to see the company go, as I'm all for preserving options and freedom of choice, and a little treat every now and then is a fine thing. (In fact, I'm pro-choice when it comes to foods and dieting.)

Regarding unions...It's amazing how labor unions just destroy whole companies with extortion tactics that defy common sense negotiation techniques. (I say this as a career, and unwilling, union member).

Wow Captain!

Even from the west coast. Boy! Are you in the minority out there! Glad to know there is still the slightest chance that maybe we can turn California around some day. Very slim though! I don't think they will ever realize what they are doing to a company as a union! Of course, they don't care, it's not their money if the company goes bust. Just move on to the next job!
