I know you purists are going to flame me for this, but I've come up with a "poor mans" aromatherapy. I got a can of vanilla air freshener from a Dollar type store, sprayed some on a small piece of facial tissue, and spread it across the CPAP filter. Now, I actually look forward to hosing up at night It creates a light aroma of baking cookies.

I would want to eat the cookies, and wouldn't be able to fall asleep because those food scents make me hungry! I love Clear by Pur-Sleep and am in withdrawal from not having any for the past week. I am waiting for my order from Pur-Sleep to arrive!!!

I saw Pugsy's suggestion about the PurSleep product on the post about what to try during the CPAP.com "free shipping" last weekend.
(Pugsy, thanks for the hint about using cotton balls. That will be cheaper than buying disks. Also, for the tip about placing the cotton on something to avoid damaging wood furniture.)

I bought the https://www.cpap.com/productpage/cpap-a ... aster.html "CPAP Vapor Clear Sinus Blaster" which like the starter pack also contains the stand, disks and everything you need to give this a try. I like the "clear", the "calm" is okay.

After using it a couple of days, I do like this product and intend to try it for awhile and see if it seems to help me sleep.

This stuff is strong! For new users, I'd recommend putting on as little as possible and placing it a couple of inches from your air inlet the first night. On following nights, it was less of a shock and I put it right up against my machine. The smell does last much of the night, but it becomes less powerful over time.

Personally, I do like the idea of buying something sold on a reputable site like CPAP.com, as opposed to something that I'm not sure of what it actually contains or that has a bunch of chemicals. I'm sure there are other reputable sites for aromatherapy as well, but do think about what you are inhaling all night long. There are some chemicals that are not great for you and may give some people headaches.

Here is another thought for someone that wants to cheaply and safely try out the aromatherapy concept. Place a couple drops of pure/real vanilla, peppermint or almond extract or lemon juice on a cotton ball under the air inlet for your CPAP machine. (Set it on a plate, so you don't hurt your furniture.) This won't last as long as the Pur-Sleep essential oils, but it will let you see if you like the idea of an aroma coming through your mask.

If you are struggling with congestion, it helped me to add Alkalol to my daily sinus rinse. This reduced my congestion and allows me to breathe freely with my CPAP mask. CPAPtalk post about Alkalol use here: viewtopic.php?p=665255#p665255
