Given that it does not have more carbs than higher fat ones, isn't it better to eat the fat-free one?
I wish I lived near a Trader Joe's, their coffee is awesome! and at a great price!

It seems that unlike milk and cheese, the carb evaluations for yogurt can vary quite a bit from one brand to another. I'm not sure why this is among plain yogurt brands. Two possible reasons could be that some add dry milk solids to thicken it, but at the same time add more carbs due to the concentrated lactose that occurs.
Also the "Greek" style tends to have less carbs due to the straining process. But like Lizistired suggested, the whole milk variety tastes so much better! (and remember, fat isn't bad)

Wow, today was the first time I added heavy whipped cream to my scrambled eggs with spinach and onions. YUMMY~!

That said, Does anyone know where to find unadulterated Kielbasa or Polish Sausage?? I have kraut and it sounds really good right now but I can't find any without added sugar and crap.
Got some pork butt thawing.

We made our own from a recipe in Rytek Kutas' book Smoked Meats and Sausages.
We altered the seasoning to traditional Ukrainian style.
Stuffing the casings was a family giggle-fest.

If you feel adventurous, just go to the grocery store and get a adulterated or unadulterated Kielbasa and dump it inthe bottom of a crock pot. Add your pork butt, some sliced onions, a few carrots and whatever else you can think of. Add some chicken broth and ground black pepper. Bring to a boil, then turn down low and let it perk for 12 hours or so. The flavor of the Kielbasa does wonderful things to the contents of the crock pot.

Honestly, not too bad, which I think is part of what's undercutting my motivation. I think I'm a couple pounds lighter as a function of my half-assed approach, but maybe if I took a full-assed approach, I'd be even another couple of pounds lighter.

But scientifically, is there really NO metabolic benefit to a half-assed approach? Is it truly all or nothing? If I eat lower-carb (not no carb) all day and then have a few fat-free pretzels at night, have I ruined everything?
How well would it work with CPAP?
Now in this domain I'm more desperate for change and my half-assed approach (i.e., sub-optimal pressures) appears to be better than nothing, but probably not nearly as good as a full-assed approach (i.e., optimal pressures) would be. Unfortunately, in this realm I appear to be out of options despite high motivation.

Per internet, 3/4 of a Cup of Special K Low Carb Lifestyle Protein Plus Cereal has 14 grams of carbs...

What non-sugar sweeteners do y'all recommend? There's nothing like eating plain Greek yogurt with no sweeteners to turn one off on a low carb diet... I've been using Equal, but I'm guessing there's a million reasons not to...

SU - it is the "net carbs" - take the carb grams subtract the fiber grams and you have net carbs

so thankful for this thread, I need to get back on the low carb lifestyle - worked so well for my blood sugar and everything else in 2010, then I went on a cruise, got a new job with lots of travel and the numbers are creeping up. Off to order another 5 pounds of almond flour for some cookies as a treat and making some sugar free Kahlua this week

It is about half the price of beef here and it is tasty.

And as far as sweetner is concerned I just read a report that maybe Splenda is not so good because it might reduce your birth control effectiveness

I find Stevia tastes the best when sweetening foods that you're not heating/cooking, but not good for baking etc.

Equal (aspartame) is really not recommended for a number of reasons.
When I "need" a sweetener, I only use Truvia (brand of stevia) Stevia is a natural non caloric/ non carb sweetener which is derived from stevia leaf. The other sweeteners can trick your body into thinking that they are actual sugars, which is not good if you're trying to change your body's metabolism of carbs.

Your other question about the carbs in Special K Protein Plus, was correctly answered by brucelegs, but I would add that most of the Special K line of cereals, like most cereals, are way too high in net carbs, so I was referring to this particular cereal only. 9 net carbs is actually pretty good for a grain cereal.

So it's "low carb" if it's high fiber relative to the carbs?

Shredded Wheat 'n Bran, which is very low sugar (1g), has 47 grams of carbohydrates and 8 grams of fiber. I assume that's exceedingly "fattening", eh? I quit it and then started eating it sometimes after I'd work out, but I'm not sure if I should eat that load of carbs even after a workout (and my work outs are not intense, unfortunately).
