SD card size

Hi folks, I have sent my SD card along with my RT to see how things are going and I have a feeling that I won't hear back until after the holidays so I am thinking of buying an SD card to monitor myself. I was going to wait because I am not really familiar with the software yet but I think it's time I learned. Anyway, I am technically lacking in knowledge and am not sure what type of card to buy. Are they all the same? I see there is Sandisk at my local store and they are 2GB and 4. Should I just get the 2GB?

2 GB will be more than enough.
I have a 2 GB SD card used from April to October every night and it has only used 0.04 GB of space.
This card will hold years of data.

I think my card size is 1GB

Oh. good. Thanks. I will save money then. So, you just leave the data on there I guess. I am not really as stupid as I look but just old enough to fear technology and worry about making mistakes.

Yes, we just leave the files on the SD card alone. There is no real need to worry about getting the card filled to capacity anytime soon.

I misspoke on the amount of room left on my card... I forgot I had removed some files when I changed machines. Doesn't matter though, I remember checking it about 4 months along and I still had loads of free space.

It's hard to find 1 gig cards anymore and the 4 gig cards are often as cheap as the 2 gigs. Any of them will work so you might as well get the most bang for your buck.

On my way to buy an SD card I checked my mail and mine was returned....of course there was no report even though I had requested it. There was a note saying that she sent the report to my doctor and I am seeing my doctor tomorrow so she will give me a copy. But in the mean time I am going to try to figure this stuff out myself. I hope she didn't erase what was on there.

She said she tweaked some things to make my treatment more "comfortable" and that it will change the machine when I insert the card.

Off to go see what mess I can make now.

If it's not more comfortable, you know how to get into the clinician's menu, I assume.

I hope she didn't wipe your card, but don't be suprised if she did. She also may have set the "Sleep Quality" back to "Usage" so you can't see your AHI. When they set the "settings" on the card, it overrides whatever you tell the machine. There is a way to change that if it happened but I can't find it on mine right now. Hoping you won't need to know.

She may have erased it. I opened Rescan and inserted the card. My computer recognized the card and when I hit download in the Rescan program nothing happened. I am too busy right now to mess with it and will see what it said tomorrow at doc office but if they did erase it I am P.O.'d

A word of caution... if you get anything bigger than 2 gigs, it's probably a High Capacity SD card (SDHC), I'm pretty sure the CPAP can use it, but if you have an older computer, with a build in card reader, or an older external card reader, it may not be able to handle SDHC cards. My computer is about 5 years old, and it's build in card reader won't work with SDHC. The easy work-around is to buy an newer, inexpensive eternal card reader (mine was $8), that plugs into a USB port, and can read SDHC SD cards.

Elle, Let your doc know that you want to be involved in your treatment. Ask your him/her what "tweaks" the DME made to your therapy. You may need to wipe the settings the dme put on the card to get at your data. It will be helpful to know what they changed and why. Your doc should be willing to discuss that with you.
It might not hurt to have an extra sd card just in case.

I tried checking it again. I opened rescan first and then inserted the card. It is now busy and says it is "establishing a connection with the device". It looks like it is downloading now but I am worried because it says the data will not be saved. I want it saved. Will keep working with it.

Regarding the USB memory card. Do you mean once the data is on my computer from the SD Card I should save it to a USB memory card?

You have to create a patient and open that patient before you download. I think that's why it's saying it won't be saved. You can still look at it though.

I had created a patient but it started to download to that other one before I had done anything (just inserted the card and it started). After it finished I did click on my name and then hit "download" again and it is working. I don't think it has any details on it but it does seem to show that my pressure was mainly around 14. All these years on my compliance only machine I had it set at 8.

I will let you know what else I figure out from this when it stops downloading.
