Re: New TSA rules?
In a perhaps futile attempt to bring back on topic, I just went through security at SNA a short while ago before getting on this jammed full flight I am still stuck on. In a middle seat.
Put my laptop, CPAP, and baggie of liquids in one bin. All went through with nary a comment or mite of molestation. The only comment on the bag was from gate staff who (FINALLY) were ensuring the correct size and number of carryon bags. They asked me to open to show had ONLY CPAP stuff in.

It would be a BIG step forward if that compliance was consistently required by gate staff!trike-mike wrote:The only comment on the bag was from gate staff who (FINALLY) were ensuring the correct size and number of carryon bags. They asked me to open to show had ONLY CPAP stuff in.

Willtry -- that's a nice backscatter x-ray portrait you're using as an icon. Very on topic. Shouldn't your hands be behind your head?

They should be but I am carrying my CPAP with me
Re: New TSA rules?
The point here should be it was airline staff who checked and NOT TSA.trike-mike wrote:The only comment on the bag was from gate staff who (FINALLY) were ensuring the correct size and number of carryon bags. They asked me to open to show had ONLY CPAP stuff in.
TSA only cares if you brought your own bottled water or soda or coffee.
NOTE: CPAP bag can have medicines in it but not socks or a toothbrush.
Of course medicines can also be in another bag too.

Hear! Hear! I have always strictly followed the rules on that and have been more than a little peeved when people carry on the house on full flights or put bags in sideways or nothing under seat causing delays and gate checks. Was gratified to see it not mention the "hard done by looks" on those having to actually check their steamer trunksbillbolton wrote:It would be a BIG step forward if that compliance was consistently required by gate staff!trike-mike wrote:The only comment on the bag was from gate staff who (FINALLY) were ensuring the correct size and number of carryon bags. Re: New TSA rules?
I agree with these sentiments. However, this complaint has to be followed immediately by one against the airlines and their decision to charge for every checked bag. Many of the people who carry on so much stuff are doing so to avoid having to check their bags.trike-mike wrote:Hear! Hear! Rooster (Roster?) are you really comparing " "gee", "jee", "Jezus", "geez", "gosh", "god!", "OMG", etc." to the most important words in Islam? Go into any house of faith or any religious gathering and tell people that their must sacred words are just drivel. I would like to know the reaction you get. BTW, I am not a Muslim but I can understand the hurt they feel because of people's universal hatred of them because of what twelve Saudis did on 9/11. How about condemning all Christians because of what Timothy McVeigh did to the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, taking the lives of many innocent people including children in day care. It makes just as much sense! Try loving your neighbor instead of hating millions of people whom you've never met.

I have not done any of what you just accused me of. Not in this thread. Not in any other thread.

Re: New TSA rules?
So... after reading this thread, I'm still not clear on the TSA rules
I can only assume that a CPAP can be carried on in addition to your one carry on piece. Also you don't need to remove the CPAP from the carry case? Is that the low down?

Re: New TSA rules?
The "new" TSA procedures apparently no longer require removal from the bag or swabbing. Just open the bag for a visual inspection.
Carry-on limits have not changed. Generally, you may take one carry-on and one "personal item" (purse, laptop, etc) . Medical equipment does NOT count against that allowance. However, IF the airline personnel decide there is too much carry-on AND it creates a safety issue, they may limit carry-ons. That's always been the case.
I ALWAYS go to the gate agent, explain that I have medical equipment, and request early boarding. They always grant it. That way I'm already on with my stuff stowed if they start limiting. (They never have...)

Isn't that the SECOND time you've been accused wrongly? Sigh.roster wrote:

Super Sleeper, please take note of the correct sender of this racist, hateful quote, which clearly violates forum rules.
jbenenson,
May I also assume that in the interest of fairness you will "target" any posters who use the offensive terms "gee", "jee", "Jezus", "geez", "gosh", "god!", "OMG", etc.?
