Leave it up to a lawyer to read the fine print. Good work PST.

Time for a new Product Challenge..... Let's see how the new IntelliPAP AutoAdjust with Smartflex does against the S9 or the newest PR One!!

That machine is great cindy I have one. It is data capable. It is the price fixing and bulllying tactics that we don't like.

1. Tough to do a product challenge as most users will have used only one or the other - the data comparison would be skewed.
2. I actually find that my S9 has some anomolies; first it seems that the EPR is much better or that the pressure settings are astray. Also, the data coming out of it does not seem to match up with the data that I was getting from my S8 Autoset II.... they have changed the algorithm methings.
3. The study was run by a group of ResMed doctors who set the parameters for the study - for all we know they prescribed massive doses of viagra or cialis and the greater compliance is a result of less of the men rolling out of bed at night.
4. I love my S9 Auto's but asides from a few features that attracted me, I don't think that they work any better than my S8 Autoset II's did. In fact, I kept my S8 Escape II as a spare travel machine for when I go camping or trekking through the tundra and just want a solid as a brick unit that will take a beating. I'm not so sure my S9's will take a beating from the looks of them after having spent 25+ years in the electronics industry - it appears to me, in actual fact, that the S9's are primarily an updated and cheaper version of the S8's (cheaper in cost of manufacture). I could be wrong but need a tech that works on both to dispel my theory.

After what ResMed has done to the market lately, I simply drill a hole in their press releases and hang a stack of them in the outhouse. Wish they would stop printing them on shiny paper.

First of all; 50 is not a statistically valid sample--but besides that----
Second; I love my S9 Elite--I don't know if any other machine that shows the AHI and leaks on screen.
I just don't have the time to use my computer before work.
I'm trying to get a S9 Auto for my husband. Have to wait for them to read his titration & get an RX for him.
Insurance kicks in 90%--no reason to be stingy except for a backup/travel machine.
BC/BS doesn't cover that. sassafrassarassen!

I can't speak personally for the Resmed S8 Elite II - but I had a Resmed S8 Elite, a Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage and they were GREAT CPAPs!!! The S8s were GREAT xPAPs!!!! The best out there in my not at all humble opinion. The S9s have a real challenge to be able to equal much less exceed the S8s for durability and efficacy.

DeVilbiss wasn't afraid to provide their new IntelliPAP AutoAdjust against the Respironics M Series Auto w/A-Flex (or was it C-Flex) for a CPAP.COM product challenge before the new PR S1s came out. THAT is putting their money where their mouth is!!! HURRAH for DeVilbiss (and DeVilbiss won too)!!!!!!

I don't foresee Resmed kicking loose w/some S9 Autos to compete w/the PR S1 Autos (or PR kicking loose w/some S1 Autos either for that matter) for a CPAP.COM product challenge.

Cindy Sue --

If you register on the forum (it's free and you won't get spam as a result), I can PM you with info on how to get ResMed's ResScan software. You'll still need to get either a card reader or USB cable to transfer your data from the machine to your PC.

Ahhhh, the Resmed S8s and S8 IIs provided EASY access to and a superior amount of data via the LCD screen. The Respironics pre-M (Legacy) Series and the Respironics M Series and the new PR SystemOnes provide some efficacy data via their LCD screens (of course, Respironics didn't have the brains God gave a goose to provide backlighting for their LCD screen so you could SEE the data w/o a flashlight). DeVilbiss, Fisher & Paykel and what WAS Puritan Bennet, then Covidien and now Sandman, are all offering fully data capable CPAPs and APAPs now too.

And the Resmed S8s and S8 IIs provide ACTUAL Leak data, not some stupid, insulting Smiley face.

I'm still far from convinced that the S9s are that big a step forward from the S8s and S8 IIs for durability or data reporting or for that matter for therapy efficacy over the S8 IIs which also have that new EasyBreathe technology.

Toronto --

For the product challenges, cpap.com selects a group of testers that already use one of the challenge's products. cpap.com then provides the other challenge product to the testers for free. (And yes, the testers get to keep the product.) The testers use the second product for a period of time and then write evaluations of both products.

The challenges typically involve masks, but there was one for the Intellipap Auto against the M Series Auto and yes, the testers all got Intellipaps for free. FYI, the Intellipap beat out the M Series.

See the product challenge icon at the top of the screen for past challenge details.

I can get numerical data on the screen of my S9 elite by holding two buttons down and the turning the knob a little.
The smiley face seems to be meaningless, since I've seen that dang green smiley face for as high as 40.8 lpm on my FX.
I consider that icon useless.

Amen to the Smiley face, Chunky!! I actually find it rather offensive. At least w/the S8s, S8 IIs Resmed respected our intelligence enough to give us actual numbers to work with instead of that asinine insulting smirking smiley face.
