Yes - just got the flu shot last week. They only had two left. This is the case across the State where the regular flu vaccine is in short supply

Yes - to the Swine Flu. Were I work, we are waiting for the State to provide. Being a University, it will made available for free. Would like to get it before my trip to Mexico in November.

1. No, no flu shots for me
2. Yes, I consider SA a chronic medical condition. I wish it were "cure-able," but meanwhile will keep my status as a hosehead.

The vaccine was offered at the hospital I work at but I chose not to take it. No real reason for not taking it but I just don't trust it.

And yes to the second question.

Late, Just a technical semantics matter, but CPAP therapy does not cure SDB. You still have SDB, it is just successfully treated by CPAP.

There is a cure for many cases of SDB and that is a tracheotomy. However, you need to consider the considerable side effects before having a tracheotomy.

I've been told that I can take in November.

I guess my age (71) is not considered a high priority. I'm not sure why. I guess that they consider that I've made it this far, it will take a lot more than a little ole flu bug to get me down.

If someone has a shot lying around that you don't need, let me know. I live in Va.

thanks,
Jay

Yes, I will get the vaccine. My work in healthcare exposes me and I'm asthmatic.

Yes, sleep apnea is a chronic medical condition. Whether or not it predisposes one to complications from 'flu is another question. Certainly it predisposes to other conditions that would increase the risk of complications, but sleep apnea alone--who knows?

If you have an opportunity to get the H1N1 vaccine and elect not to, just think of me as you pass!!!!

My day 5 of H1N1.... temp over 100, coughing like a tornado, conjunctivitis, cement like nasal and chest congestion, nose bleeds, mega headache, all body parts feel awful, asthma flaring, NO VOICE, absent from work x4 days to date reported duration is 7-10 days, sleep disturbance, questioning if this flu may kill me.

It's more than just a few days sleeping...........it's miserable!!!! It may be deadly!!!!

elg,

Are you using your CPAP? I certainly hope so.

Heal quickly,

Thanks Rooster, I am using my APAP and Pulse OX...Sleep is fragmented, O2 levels are down with some desats. My hope is with what air I inhale, APAP is pushing a little more!!!! Easy to lose the seal with coughing..FF mask is a necessity. Otherwise, I would not be able to use APAP right now!

No, I won't be getting the flu vaccine (regular or H1N1). I've never had one. The last time I had the flu was back in the late 80s. I rarely get colds. I take a lot of vitamin C and I take vitamin D. I think my immune system is pretty strong. And I'm not convinced the shots are safe.

Yes, I think that OSA is a chronic condition. But I don't think that successfully treated OSA is, by itself, a chronic condition that warrants a flu shot. That said, if you have OSA and happen to get the flu, suffering through it while attached to your hose would be pretty miserable.

Had swine flu in August and it hit me very hard and was in hospital with ARDS. Having said that, I do not plan to get the shot and my family members also do not want to get it. In Canada, like Europe, they went with a new formula, with an adjuvent to make the immunity boost higher from the shot, while using a lower dose of the actual virus, which alowed for much more vaccine to be made quickly. I personally don't like this new formulation. Old formulation shots will also be available, and my DS will get the regular formulation of H1N1, although he also had the illness, and in him it was exceptionally mild. DH had a miserable case of it but recovered after a week. I guess it is a real indavidual choice. Some people have little choice because of their medical conditions, other's prefere to get their immunity from the illness itself.

We got our regular flu shots 6 weeks ago and we will definately get the swine flu shot, I know, it's like playing with fire but my husband has a low immune system so we will get one (if they don't run out before we can get our foot in the door)! That seems to be the case these days with all the flu vaccinations, they always run out! ....

If they call the Swine Flue, the Bunny Flue or the Teddy Bear Flue, they would have a harder time getting the masses injected with the serum, with it's toxic components. Jim
