Greetings,

We will be adding CPAP warranties to our CPAP Compare Charts soon.

You all may be interested to know that Resmed maintains a very similar warranty agreement. It follows, the bolding is mine:

Resmed S8 Escape CPAP Manual, Page 34

Limited Warranty

Resmed warrants that your Resmed product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for the period specified below from the date of purchase by the initial consumer.

Autoset CS, Resmed humidifiers, ResControl, ResLink 1 Year

CPAP, APAP, Bilevel, AutoSet CS 2 flow generators 2 Years

Accessories, mask systems 90 Days

If the product fails under conditions of normal use, Resmed will repair or replace, at its option, the defective product or any of its components. This Limited Warranty does not cover a) any damage caused as a result of improper use, abuse, modification or alteration of the product b) repairs carried out by any service organization that has not been expressly authorized by Resmed to perform such repairs c) any damage or contamination due to cigarette, pipe, cigar or other smoke d) any damage caused by water being spilled on or into the flow generator. Any product repaired or replaced under warranty will be returned, freight prepaid, to the dealer designated by the consumer. The cost of transporting the product to an authorized service organization will be borne by the consumer.

The warranty is in lieu of all other express or implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Some regions or states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

Resmed shall not be responsible for any incidental or consequential damages claimed to have occurred as a result of the sale, installation or use of any Resmed product. Some regions or states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from region to region.

One more quickie and off to work. Cpap's disclaimer: "Software is intended for use by Sleep Labs and DMEs. We do not provide technical support for software purchases." (Neither does Respironics to individuals) Since it is only for sleep labs and DME's and no support is available, does that mean Cpap is selling it illegally? If you call Respironics, they sell it for $1600. Just an added thought to mull over.

Hi Johnny,
On you earlier post on the warranty from Respironics, which is different from Resmed, can someone contact cpap and find out how much warranty time they have left? Respironics warranty states: "Respironics, Inc. warrants that the system shall be
free from defects of workmanship and materials and
will perform in accordance with the product
specifications for a period of two (2) years from the
date of sale by Respironics, Inc. to the dealer."
Theoretically, the warrant could be way less than 2 years, depending on how long it was stocked at your warehouse. Therefore, someone thinking they have warranty time remaining may in fact not. This could be a big issue, so could you clarify this? Does Cpap send a statement with new purchases stating the length of warranty remaining?

Guest,

Your IP resolved to a registered cpaptalk member. Charges like that should be made by known members or not at all. Shame on you.

We purchase software from the Manufacturer. We meet a market demand as best we can in our authoritarian industry. Our website is open to all who wish to view it, including customers and manufacturers who sell us the software.

Charges that we are engaged in illegal activity are completely false.

This thread has degraded from bad to worse. From customer service matters made public to false accusations against our company.

I'm having a hard time seeing the CPAP support value of the thread.

For the many who have sent me PMs of support, thank you very much. To answer the popular question being asked:

1. Yes, I've considered deleting this silly thread, but I hold on to hope that logic, truth and our companies glaringly obvious support of and commitment to CPAP patients can trump outlandish charges.

Hey, I'm bumping this thread back to life - did the BiPAP Pro 2 ever get repaired or replaced? Hello, Respironics, I'm going to be choosing a BiPAP this week.

41yow, 118lb, severe OSA, lots of allergies, had surgery for deviated septum.

Johnny, I didn't mean to get into this thread - I only saw the first page when I posted, I didn't realize until I revisited the thread that it had been so long and gotten so heated. I really don't want to add fuel to the fire! Would you please remove my posts for posterity? Thanks.

Alternatively, if that would make it look like you were censoring posts (ack! you guys aren't known to do that) you could just leave this post to show that I *asked* to have my post retracted ! I do *not* want to do any damage or continue any bad feelings here. You guys are great hosts. I still haven't read this whole thread, only the first and last pages, enough to know I want out!

"When in a hole..." I really should stop digging. Sorry, guys.

If you want to delete your post and no one has posted one after yours, there is a blue X at the top right of your post, by "Edit" which allows you to delete it. Thought you may like to know for future use.

Because it was asked, actually by many, the machine was returned to cpap who in turn sent it to Respironics. I shipped it on a Tuesday and they received it on Thursday. They returned it to Respironics on Friday. Respironics supposedly "repaired" it again. It was returned to me 3 weeks later. I've had it about a week now and it hasn't stopped yet that I know of. My actual down time due to warranty return with the machine has been almost 2 months since February of this year. (Not including any time it stopped at night) Respironics stated: "Respironics Inc. starts the warranty from the time the unit is shipped from our dock. We have no way to track what a provider does with a machine once they receive it. They may rent the machine for months then sell it." I made a request that since "refurbished" machines carry a 2 year warranty, they should at least add my down time back onto the end of the warranty. I sent cpap 2 emails to that effect over a week ago inquiring how much warranty I have left with no response from them as of yet. I felt under the circumstances, that was a reasonable question. I think since the warranty works in this manner, maybe everyone who has purchased a machine and had a problem should find out how much warranty time is left. It has been through no fault of mine the machine failed and had to be returned on two occassions and I should not be penalized on the warranty because of this. (Or if it was warehoused/rented before shipping) These are reasons I requested remaining warranty information. Because it was stated they have "gone the extra mile for me", I should hear from them soon I imagine with a satisfying response. Thanks to all who followed this either positive or negative. I apologize for it being put back up front but I didn't do it. If anyone wants any more info, pm me.
Update, it stopped again 9 days after I got it back, 9/27.

First of all, very nice photo, sthnreb.

Second, I am very happy to hear your machine, so far, has been behaving. I hope you continue to have nothing but positive results from this last repair and that the warrantee becomes a moot point since the machine never breaks down again.

I think that under the circumstances - evacuation from Houston and return - that is a reasonable delay.

Lori - and the poster who PMd me - thanks... I don't see an X box on my posts, though! I have a Quote box and I do have an Edit box, but no X. ??

But HEY! The post I *just* made, there's an X! Hm. Is this a time-limited feature? One that's only good until someone replies or quotes you, perhaps?

mommaw,

The X should be to the right of Quote and Edit...maybe you need to slide the page over with the bottom slider bar? If that was too obvious, I apologize. I just don't like to assume everyone knows how to do everything on a computer.

PS: Never mind. You just wrote a second post and I see you found it on this one. I'm glad...
