Yes, SSDP is in services, started and set to Manual.Muffy wrote:Maybe you can't see scardsvr because you don't have the Files Viewer set to "View Hidden Files". If it's gone, tho, that's gonna be a problem.
Is SSDP Discovery Service running in Device Manager?

Card Reader and Services.msc
Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
OK, I just wiped out my scardsvr.exe and rebooted, and XP put another one back. Apparently, if one has the .dll intact, you can make a "fresh" scardsvr.exe. GTK.
I think before I rolled back the registry I'd reinstall the scardsvr.dll, it should be on the Installation Disk. Maybe if Gumbo ever rolls out of bed he can help us with a Repair (maybe just running Repair will put the .dll back). Or, if he can find his scardsvr, we'll just steal his.
My dependencies are different in that my scardsvr is associated with Plug and Play, but I don't know if that means anything.

Just for laughs, search the whole c: drive for scardsvr.exe.

Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
I dont know. When you refer to rolling back the registry are you talking about doing a system restore? I have done those in XP and Vista but I dont know much about the registry.
And is the SCardSvr.exe on the Encore Pro disk or what?

Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
Right, System Restore. SCardSvr is a MS product, so I don't think it would be on the Encore disk (I don't have one to look at) it would be on the Vista Installation disk. Or you can just surf the web for dll libraries (is that redundant?). I'm a trusting soul by nature, so I'll D/L anything from anywhere (on the other hand, I now have 71 different ToolBars on IE).

Search the whole c: drive for scardsvr first.

Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
Hey Muffy,
I looked again in Win32, this time at the whole directory and not just the folders. I found SCardSvr.dll, scardsvr.dll, scardsvr.Dlg, scardsvr.mgr, scardsvr.Delay(Application), and scardsvr(application). So it is there after all.

Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
OK, NBD. I would do the System Restore, load EP and don't even let the reader near the computer until the Vista drivers from the Encore disk are loaded.

Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
well, i went to install EP and now it is telling me that it has encountered an error with the SQL something or another and will not fully install.
Re: Card Reader and Services.msc
That's a drag. Try uninstalling everything first.

And before you install anything see if scardsrv will start.
There's no Smart Card Reader hooked up, right?
