REVIEW: Contec CMS-60D Handheld Oximeter
CMS-60E Handheld Oximeter (finger type)
EDIT ### Note! my unit is the CMS-50E - I should have posted this review in a thread on that model - will leave the post here but just be aware it is data off a 50E model - clips on the finger & is totally self contained in the finger unit ###
Used my machine last night - just set the time in the menu - attached it to my middle left finger (no tape used just its own grip) & then on getting up downloaded the data & printed off four reports - all very good & very readable.
Am very happy with the results - beats having the old Ohmeda ex hospital unit alongside the bed
DSM
Here are two screen grabs of the data ...

dsm, if I remember your last post in the previous page of this thread, your meter was not the one in the subject line. If that is the case, kindly edit the subject line of your post(s), and perhaps even start a new thread to avoid confusion. Thanks.dsm wrote:Used my machine last night - just set the time in the menu - attached it to my middle left finger (no tape used just its own grip) & then on getting up downloaded the data & printed off four reports - all very good & very readable.

Good to see the this model's software is similar to that of the 60D. This company's numbering is a bit too cryptic; just the last letter being different could indicate an entirely different model, for example compare the wrist model and the finger model.

Undoubtedly... but I do get tired of having to jump through hoops to collect and compare data.guyrws wrote:I am not into your CPAP's software but the Contec SPO2 software creates two files one of which is an Excel file. I am sure some bright spark could make a way of combining the two data flows.
I hope to be getting a new computer soon. It willl not have Windows Vista on it.PS.I would like to point out that the SPO2 Review software is not fully compatible with Windows Vista.
I have heard form the suppliers who say they do not use Vista much in China. Some good sense there eh??!!

Good point, I realised that after I posted it but was about to head for work & left the post there.
I will edit it & change title rather than remove it.
Cheers

Than you. Kindly also include in the title, whether your meter is a wrist type or finger type model. I can never keep track of this without looking up. Having that in the title will hopefully help everybody.dsm wrote:I will edit it & change title rather than remove it.DSM

There is a good chance I would have a clinical machine available to use for at least one or two of the nights at the same time, so I would be able to compare the results.
Moreover, I have been able to order this machine for significantly lower price than the original poster here paid for. I do not wish to publish that method, because some complaints from the us distributor might cut off that avenue for others. You may PM me for that.
I am a Newbie been on bpap and oxgent since sept. 1,2008. I would like to know where you purchased your pluse oximeter and how much? Also was the service good? Your help is much appreciated. My email is young.vann@gmail.com

Re: REVIEW: Contec CMS-60D Handheld Oximeter
I've had my CMS-P for about a week now. If anyone is looking for an oximeter without a display (like they typically use in sleep labs) you might be interested in this. It sells for $99 and uses the same software as described in this thread. It has a ten foot cord and plugs into a USB port on your notebook or other PC. If you only care about recording the data while you sleep and reviewing it later, this seems to be a cheaper alternative. More of my comments are here.

Re: REVIEW: Contec CMS-60D Handheld Oximeter
I would check out those hot flashes. Just came across this post. MY hot flashes turned out to be low SpO2 causing violent spikes in Blood Pressure and waking me up in a sweat with my autonomic nervous system apparently attempting to save my life by getting me to breath properly and get oxygen into my blood supply. Quite interesting. With the Autoset set up properly now and a good fitting mask I no longer have the issue but have ordered a blood oximeter anyway (recording) so that I can follow along. And I am going to haul my Accutor BP automatic blood pressure cup (recording) up to the bedroom and let it run one night just to see what is happening until I can get one of those wrist type jobbies and make sure it works as well. When you have spent almost a month on life support and have had two code blues during that time and have watched them wheeling the corpses out in the night while you were only have conscious your outlook on your personal health changes somewhat.OutaSync wrote:Wow! That was a terrific review. Let us know how you like it in a week or two. Also about that burning thing. I have hot flashes 5 or 6 times a night and get soaked with sweat. Does that mean I couldn't use it?

As long as I live I will not forget the 2 a.m. visit to critical care (one step above ICU where they don't expect you to be leaving except feet first) of a young man's parents to identify his body and make arrangements.... only to find out that because drugs were involved he would be going downtown in a bag for an autopsy as it was then a criminal case. The mother wailed so loudly I will never forget. Nor will I forget when they wheeled him out to the elevator and down to the basement. That's one place I was glad to get out of and never want to return to. Whatever it takes.
Night all.

Fall colours. One of God's gifts. Life is fragile and short, savour every moment no matter what your problems may be. These stunning fall colours from my first outing after surviving a month on life support due to H1N1.

This is a very brief update on the comprehensive review by DreamDiver back in 2008 @ viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34394&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... 0C#p293790
Southeastern Medical Supply now sells it on-line for $199, free first class shipping. Mine arrived 48 hours after placing order…fast. Well packed, everything fits perfectly back in the box for re-sale on cpapauction.com later. No carrying case. http://www.semedicalsupply.com/cms-60d.htm
The hardware is the same, although there is now an internal clock that works even after the batteries are taken out. Keeps data/time. The batteries that came with unit have lasted 3 nights plus uploads and playing around. Best to use rechargeables.
The finger sensor has rubber contacts top and bottom. The top has the same infrared LED as before. Fortunately no burning issues. Plenty of cord to keep the unit underneath your pillow or whereever,
Software remains the same, reports the same. Multiple languages, not just Chinese/English/German are now available. More people must be using CMS products!
User manual – paper version is super small, almost impossible to read. An electronic version in word format is now available when installing the software. And a pdf format manual available at supplier’s website. I didn’t read it – used dreamdiver’s comments plus intuition to figure things out. What would be nice is how to interpret the data and reports....
