I've not been closely following the evolution, nor have I kept good notes as to what happens when, so please forgive me if the following comments have already been noted and/or corrected:

Links within a posting, particularly links to other CPAPtalk posts, have occasionally opened in the same window, and the "back" arrow resulted in an "expired window" notice requiring a "refresh" to get back to the starting point. Can you arrange that links within posts always open in a new window?

Also, I think that I am noticing that links to previous individual posts now open at the top of the page they are on, instead of going directly to the specific post. Is that correctable?

Many thanks.
Links outside of CPAPtalk should open in a new window. Links to CPAPtalk pages will open in the same window. You can alway right click ANY link and choose to open it in a new window or tab depending on your browser. Links to individual posts should work just fine. viewtopic/p291409/viewtopic.php?p=291370#p291370 That is a link to your post. Do you have an example of a thread where the link to an individual post doesn't work? Thanks.

Not a bad idea. I will see what we can do over here about that.

Yes, that does appear to be what is happening now. My recollection in the past system is that any link, whether internal or external, would open in a new window. Not a big deal either way, just a change to get used to, involving how we navigate back to points of origin.

Yes, clicking on your link brings me directly to my post. What I think is happening that the format of link references has changed.

For example, I had put into a message, posted AFTER the format change, a link saved from BEFORE the format change:

http: //www. cpaptalk .com/viewtopic.php?p=288379#288379

I have intentionally "disconnected" this link so that it doesn't work, because when I write it normally, it comes out in shortened form as:

viewtopic.php?p=288379#288379

This link brings me to the top of the page on which my post appears, but it does not, as it did in the past, bring me to my message itself. I have tried this with other links to my own pre-change posts, which I have stored off-line, and the same thing happens.

Again, it looks now as though the format of the saved post link has changed; my saved links for the new system appear as:

http: //www. cpaptalk .com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34091&p=290207#p290207 (disrupted) which prints out as:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34091&p=290207#p290207

with extra f= and t= phrases. These bring me correctly to my new-system posts. But even your reference to my message in this topic has yet another different format. So, it looks as though the linking address formats have changed, and the old formats go to the page, but not to the post.
TrinhVu wrote: I don't think you should get an "expired window" message unless you are performing a submit post.. For example: the equipment below of a user's post open in the same window and if i hit back it does go back normally.
I don't think you should get an "expired window" message unless you are performing a submit post....
Finally yes, you're right about "expired page" occurring when I POST: as I am preparing this message, when I click on the links I have used as examples from "Preview" to check the link before posting, it opens in the same window, and back arrow gives me an "expired page" message which requires a "refresh" and "retry" before I can get back to continue working on my post. I don't recall this ever happening in the old system.

Please note also, with my post above as an example, that in the absence of an atavar, the quotation marks for a quote starting the post, are too far to the left and overwrite some of the poster ID information.

Could you let us know what kind of computer you have (Mac, PC, etc.) and what browser and operating system? Also, what screen resolution you are using on your monitor? I tried to replicate the issue you described with the quotes and could not replicate.

As for the links, and other stuff in your post above this one, this message board is built on an open source software platform called phpBB. The old CPAPtalk was on an old version of phpBB, the new CPAPtalk is on the latest version of phpBB and yes they made some changes to the way things work. Hopefully everyone will get used to them.

SleepyPunk, I mentioned this earlier but perhaps you didn't catch it:

It would be very handy if , when you are the in the window to reply to a post, you can see the previous posters' equipment info. Currently you can only see their previous post, but their equipment info disappears. I don't know if this is possible with the new SW you're using, but it sure would help when writing reply's.
Thanks!

The left side of the gray background for the quote box, and the quotation marks, go UNDER an ativar and are not seen, but OVER the ID area when there is no ativar. I'm using a PC, XP SP2, IE 6.0.29, screen res 1280 x 1024 on a Dell E173FP with Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family driver.

Thanks cpaptalk folks for the new functionality!!

I just tried to post a reply to a thread, and apparently someone else had made a post in the meantime, and I got a warning about it when I tried to submit. I LIKE IT! Thanks!!!

Re: Addition to SPAM reporting process

Another board I frequent has a box which pops up as you report a post as spam where one can note the reason the post is being reported.

It helps the mods know why it is thought to be SPAM or offensive enough to delete.

Might save mods here figuring out what's wrong about the post, or save from following links in the post to determine on quick review whether it is a legit and relevant post.

Just a suggestion....

Email Respionics with your machine's serial number and the details of who you bought it from.

This thread is actually meant for questions about the new forum setup, not cpap related questions. If you need more info about fixing your equipment, I suggest you created your own thread - people will help you gladly with further info if you need it.

Hello Everyone,

Ok, so we launched the new site about one week ago and have been working hard squashing bugs big and small. We've also been considering and implementing feature or functionality requests. We appreciate all of your feedback and the wonderful compliments you have given to our team!! Thanks! And we certainly hope everyone is enjoying the new site.

We still have a few things on the list to implement or fix but we are very close to reaching a stopping point once the list we have is done. I have tried to respond on the board to as many issues as possible. If I didn't reply or if your request didn't get implemented, I apologize. Hard to respond to each and every post and still get my work done and some requests just didn't get implemented or approved for various reasons.

Unless some kind of major bug comes up, we are going to consider anything else that comes up past this point in this thread for inclusion in a future version 2 or version 3 of the new CPAPtalk.

I will still post any pertinent info here in the near future about anything else on our current list once the items are complete, just so you can know what we have fixed or implemented, and we will also let you know when we are done working on it.

Thanks again!

I hope this isn't too late in the game:
Please install bbcode tables module.
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... ib_id=1129

The below should show a reasonable table.

[table][mrow]Member type[col]respondents[col]%
[row]Newbie xPAP User - Less than a month [col]10[col]19%
[row]Learning xPAP User - Less than a year[col]10[col]19%
[row]xPAP User - One to three years[col]20[col]38%
[row]xPAP User - More than three years[col]4[col]7%
[row]xPAP User - More than five years[col]4[col]7%
[row]SSO - Supportive Significant Other[col]3[col]5%
[row]RT - Respiratory Therapist[col]1[col]1%
[row]ST - Sleep Tech[col]0[col]No votes
[row]SD - Sleep Doc[col]0[col]No votes
[row]DME - Durable Medical Equipment vendor[col]0[col]No votes[/table]

If that's not possible, please enable bbcode pre.

Bbcode code is less useful in this venue because it doesn't line up tabs properly, and we're not creating software.
