Another Time Around for the Newcomers...
I'm sure some of you remember my popular string of wanting to know what everyone did for a career.
Here I am again with so many newcomers wondering what all of you newcomers do for a living.
Any other interesting facts about yourselves would be welcome.
I'm just a curious little soul. Please pass on by if you are offended by this curiosity.

To get us started, I'm a standup comedian and author.
Well, no, I'm a sit-down comedian on here, and an author wannabe.
I program computers and spit silly jokes out here when the mood strikes.
Liam, board wiseass.

Technology Project Manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co (formerly BankOne). I used to do desktop support, now I make everyone else do it! I arrange national software and hardware deployments for our Retail (aka the branches) and CTO (transaction processing) lines of business.
What I'd like to be is an author, but that's still a dream. These days, I spend my time herding our large brood of cats, working on getting sleep, redecorating the house and, given time, stalking Duran Duran

I am a Registered Nurse who does Diabetes Education by telephone with Federal Employees around the country. I have only had the OSA diagnosis for about 2 months, but it's AMAZING what a little focused education will do! I've already instructed SEVERAL of my regular patients to request sleep studies, due to the symptoms they are reporting to me! If I wasn't dealing with this myself, I wonder if I would have even picked up on it! I also try to train 2 rescued dogs and a rescued cat to obey directions. It's a good thing I don't get my income from that job, as I'm a dismal failure at it!!

Heidi,
You are correct--NWA. It's very, very strange to be jobless. Hopefully I'll find something before I lose my house...
My industry-specific background has made this difficult... Anybody need assistance with unpublished air programs, implementation of pricing bulletin contracts, ticket designators, tour codes, corporate discounts, tax assessments and specific requirements pertaining to government restrictions imposed by each country transited? No??? Go figure....

Hello all:
I am a technical writer creating and maintaining end user documentation for software applications. I have been doing this for almost 20 years and loving it. Currently I work from home.
I was diagnosed in November 2004 with severe OSA.
Currently I am enjoying life with my wonderful husband and traveling when ever we can.
I also enjoy my grandchildren who are all in Virginia.
I use a REMStar Plus with a heated humidifier with a setting of 15, and Ultra Mirage FF mask.
Having fun!!!

designing soon to be obsolete stuff
I am a Mechanical Engineer, designing stuff in high tech fields that soon become obsolete and then lays off everyone in that industry. I have learned to be vary adaptable in my life. I have mainly work in electronics, but have worked in the medical devices field a number of times in my ever changing career, making things from weapons of mass destruction (hey, its a living....sigh) to defibrillators to electric toothbrushes and probably just about everything in between.
Currently employed....for today anyway. Can't even talk about what I am currently working on.
Went in at my wife's prompting for a snoring problem and came out with a pile of gear and cpap equipment about a year and a half ago. NOT what my wife was expecting.....
and yes I am a bonafied geek.

I am also an IT Project Manager. I work for a large pharmaceutical company - supporting a suite of applications that pays the salespeople. Sounds exciting doesn't it?
I am a spoiled little brat as my husband is a stay at home dad to our 3 wonderful children ages 3 - 5.

my former & present occupations
I worked for 26 years at Verizon...however it was New York Telephone then. I was everything from a directory assistance operator to dispatching installer/repairmen. When New York Telephone merged with Bell Atlantic, then Verizon I was downsized. But they were great at their downsizing. I was able to retire at age 43 with full retirement benefits...plus $500 a month extra until I reach 62. Sometimes when you lose your job things turn out for the better. I couldn't be happier. I am now working part time as a receptionist in a veterinary clinic. My hubby also retired from Verizon at 43 and he works with me at the veterinary clinic. Seeeeeeeee, bad things can turn out for the best.
