Breeze Vs. Swift
Hi to all you cpapers:
I am wondering on what people's insights are on regarding the Swift and the Breeze. Please reply if you have used each of them. Please let me know what the pros/cons are of each.
Here's my situation. I am a new cpaper - 7 weeks on and loving it. I tried the Aura which worked well for me, but I have had probems with leaks - seems that I have un tweaked it after I washed it for the first time. I can't get it to sit right since then.
I just got the Breeze last week - like it, however, it seems that I need a good amount of pressure in order to keep a seal - with a large set of pillows - and this upward pressure casues a lot of soreness in my nares. I wore it last night and somehow, woke up, don't remember it - and nicely placed it on my bed side tab;e and turned off the machine. Don't ever even remember doing it - but I did. And I think I did so because it was a tad bit umcomfortable.
So, I wouldl like to try the swift - don't know if it is worth trying. Looking for people's insights on their experiences with the Swift vs. the Breeze.
Thanks for all of your support.
Jen

Swift vs. Breeze
I have been using the Swift after viewing all of the good feedback from this forum. I love it and would not use a nasal mask again. Nasal pillows rock!!
I strap the tube to the right side of the head gear and it can make it uncomfortable when I lay on that side but that is the only problem I see. I found that if the pillow size was too small, then it hurt my nares. I use the large pillows with my Italian nose and this works great.

Jen, My wife and me have tried the Aura with the same results as you had (leaks) we have both tried the breeze same results as you (upward pressure causes a lot of soreness in my nares). We both like the Swift very comfortable and light weight. The thing both of us had to get use to was the noise factor It can be loud. But we both got use to it. We found a pillow that work for us using this mask...see other post I made viewtopic.php?t=2590 Good luck and I would say buy the swift

Breeze, Swift, and Aura
If you sleep on your back at all (I don't), the Swift is much better than the Breeze. The headgear for the Swift is also cooler, as in not as hot and itchy, as the Breeze and Aura headgears, and it doesn't mess up your hair as badly. For me, one of the main differences between these three is the where the exhaust is. The Breeze comes out in one straight stream that I can aim pretty well to hit or not hit my husband, and it rarely hits me. The exhaust on the Aura is totally out of the way, but I find I do get rainout a little more with it. The Swift seems to blow all over the place, and I when i'm sleeping on my side or stomach I have to really work to keep my own hands and arms from being chilled by the exhaust, especially on cold winter nights. For me, I get the best seal, i.e. fewest leaks, with the Breeze, even though I wear it quite loose. I would suggest you try the Breeze looser rather than tighter, as the pillows work better if they aren't squished.
I do not believe I am the only one that finds the swift (see link below )loud...IMO it is loud ........If not then I am not using it right but I am VERY happy with the mask Using it right or wrong... I love that mask

No you are right, a lot of people think its loud and even try to baffle it with mesh and such. Mine is as quiet as any interface I have had. When sealed, it is not noisy in the least. Now, I am also not a back sleeper and with a memory foam pillow, even when I sleep on the side then hose is on it doesn not bother me. My only complaint is one, I can break the seal and have to adjust the swivel to reseal, something I have learned to do unconscously, and after a few days of it I have to switch to the Activa or my nose gets sore. Has anyone ever heard of extra large pillows for this interface?
I've heard that it gets noisier under higher pressures.
I had 9cm, and mine wasn't particularly noisy. (Not the quietest thing in the world, but not particularly louder than my Ultra Mirage).
The people who complain about the noise SEEM to generally be at higher pressures, as I recall.
Liam, under pressure. (This sign off works best if you then hear the guitar riff from "Under Pressure" by Queen, which was also used as the backdrop to Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby")

I have the Swift and have used it for 7 months. It is as close as I have found to not having a mask. I like the fact that I can watch TV or read a book with it on and can take my glasses off without taking the mask off.

Thanks all for your input. Wader, I tried to re-tweak the Aura last night, but I go so frustrated, I quit. I went for a sleep clinic follow up appointment today and the doc mentioned about the Swift. So, I figured I give it a try. We'll see. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks again for all of your support and advice to this newbie. Jen
Swift
Not liking the Breeze or Aura due to hard pcs on my head/facial area, I am using the swift. I cannot tolerate anything like a full face or nasal mask, quite claustrophobic. Swift works for me, does it leak, sometimes. I swapped my ''medium'' for the ''large'' nasal pillow and have less leaks. Is iit perfection, no? Does it work, yes. I have the 420E/plus Silverlining software so I can follow my own progress and apnea/hypo's DAILY. Rather than never knowing, or worse for me waiting to feel more ""REFRESHED, RESTED AND RENEWED". This has not occured yet in 3 mos. , and I don't know if it will. But I am sticking to using the machine for the peace of mind, that perhaps I am causing less damage to my heart, lungs, and hopefully will show overall improvement, even if slight, to my health.
I did not like have over 100 episodes of apnea's or hypop's occurring, as I had during my titration study so having less than 10 or less per night, I can live with.
One point , I have to say, is I am much happier with the auto feature, than the straight ramp cpap--type that was used in the hospital darn near blew my lungs out ramping up and the lack of htd humidifier, so I've learned what works for me IMHO of course.
I don't find the Swift all that loud, others have mentioned. I'd must rather hear my breathing than NOT!!!!

I have used the Breeze, the Aura, and the Swift and currently own both the Aura and Swift.
The breeze I had was a loaner for a week and I learned I really liked the nasal interface from using it. But I had a lot of problems with the plastic head gear. No matter how I lay my head down I ended up pushing on the plastic back piece causing the pillows to mis-align and leak.
So I bough the Aura, and I like it a lot except they only ship it with medium and large size pillows. For me the large is still too small and I could not get a reliable seal. I contacted the product manager at Aieomed and learned the Extra large and Extra Small pillows are still in development and she didn't know for sure when beta test units would be available. Anyway I put my name on a list to get a test unit when/if one becomes available. If I get one I'll report back here my results with it.
So then I ordered a Swift and I really really like it a lot. It fits well, I can seal it easily each night, and I am able to sleep on both sides and my back. I've been able to sleep 6 hours with it each night since getting it. That's pretty good since I'm really on my first week of therapy with my own equipment. The thing that puts an end after 6 hours is I end up congested after that amount of time, and the pressure pumps up so high that air is blowing everywhere. I'm not sure what I'd do without steroid sprays, clariton D, saline, and heated humidifiers. In any case, I agree with the group that says the Swift is loud. Of all the masks I've tried it is by far the loudest, but also the most comfortable, so i use it. The only other issue for me is the air blows out and down my chest which I find annoying and also have to keep my arms covered or risk freezing.
I still don't feel better or rested, but it has only been 1 week and I'm still hopeful.

The wide exhaust of the Swift is what bothered me the most. Side sleeper that I am, it was always hitting something; my arm, pillow, cover. It was noisy. I even tried several mesh nettings in the cylinder to quieten it down, to no avail. The noise was very annoying to me, but I would have made the effort to get used to the sound if the exhaust had been more manageable.
Nonetheless, many do like the Swift and it's a very well made interface. Much better than the Breeze if one sleeps primarily on his/her back.
For side sleeping, the Breeze is better than the Swift, imho. It definitely helps to use the side stabilizing straps that come with the Breeze....those keep it steady as can be for me, although I put them down considerably lower than even the track they clip to in front will go.
Breeze is not silent, by any means. But the whoosh is only on inhale. I suppose some people don't mind the louder sound of the Swift since it's pretty much a steady sound. I like the softer intermittent sound of the Breeze. If you sleep on your back, though, the padded plastic at the back of the Breeze can feel too hard, and tends to shove the nasal pillows upward, tugging the nose up too, or shifts everything downward which causes leaks. As excellent as it is for sleeping on your side and toss/turning, the Breeze is not very good for sleeping on one's back.
The Breeze's exhaust suits me much better, but people with a bed partner sometimes get complaints about the Breeze blowing on them.
It's kind of six of one, half dozen of the other. Mainly depends on whether you sleep on your back very often. If you do - the Swift. If you sleep on your side and don't have someone the exhaust would disturb - the Breeze. The Swift's exhaust was a deal-killer for me, but as far as being comfortable on either side with it, it was fine. I much prefer the Breeze - very comfortable for side sleeping.
The Swift is definitely worth a try. It's a good one, too - has a lot of fans.
