So, who will be left with no place to sit when the music stops?
LOL. My prediction (only slightly off-topic) is that Microsoft Corporation will be the big loser when the dust settles. With Vista, they've created an operating system which breaks existing software packages, added Digital-Rights-Management so that numerous existing CD's, DVD's will not play, but added no real functionality improvements (according to press reports).

And, it also turns out that only the pricey Vista-professional version will be licensed for and compatible with running in virtual machines.

Vista? Why bother?

Bill

Its just the MSDE (Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine), anyone can download that from Microsoft for free. You can also get SQL Server 2005 Express for free from Microsoft.
I shoulda known that.... and I live in Seattle. duh

Yes there is an applications compatibility issue for legacy code running on Vista, but remember there is a huge amount of less obvious changes that caused this. These include: big security-related changes which by definition make the old ways of doing some things different (all meant to better protect the user's computer from hacking/etc.; taking advantage of much newer and advanced graphics hardware that is now shipping (hence the reason Encore Pro gets the message from Vista saying Vista has changed the screen display to basic because Respironics didn't update their graphics and display code); simpler user experience around networking, drive encryption, multi-users (used to be called fast-user switching).

So, yes, there are some apps compatibility issues - especially in the gaming world, which does benefit the most from the improvements in Vista - but Microsoft spent a lot of time pushing out the changes so companies could update their code. Some just decided not to make changes, but with Vista sales going through the roof, there will be much more incentive to update apps so they take full advantage of what Vista has to offer to both the developer and the casual user.

end of rant, which was off topic anyway.

David

p/s/ I do agree that DRM and music and video content is an area MS shouldn't be making more difficult for the user. Like, duh!

Got my card reader and drivers on Saturday,, I opened the (Monday)package, and I was pretty ticked off when the package had no Encore program in it. I emailed DHM and they said it was shipped in separate package,,,,, it arrived today,, and is 1.8.

Just kidding. Some users of the same Internet access, get listed with others that use the same access if they don't get logged in. AOL always gives a big long list of users.

Go here to buy it http://www.directhomemedical.com/access ... ml#mseries .
Looking at some of their products (ones that are of interest to me), I noticed they don't have any of the "Classic"/"Tank" Respironics machines listed and their UMFF is $20 higher than CPAP.COM's price.

Via your IP address.

Dial up services like AOL maintain a large pool and frequently rotate them. Broadband services sometimes have a static IP, or if it is dynamic, doesn't change nearly as often.

Tom;
Not sure you can answer what the NEW features of version 1.8 has over 1.6 -OR- if anybody is offering an UPGRADE version?

1.8 moves a few settings into the menu so you don't have to go digging through the utilities directory. It also supposedly corrects a bug when downloading from M Series APAPs which causes lost details data. We're not sure if it actually fixes it or not.

Both versions are very similar. If you have one of the new AFlex machines, however, they say you need 1.8.
