Bilevel was probably mentioned because you are kissing the max of 20 cm sometimes. If you spent a lot of time up on 20 cm you would likely need more than 20 cm and a bilevel will go to 25.

If you were complaining of great trouble exhaling at the pressures you are having then bilevel might be indicated because bilevel offers more exhale relief than EPR offers.

Bilevel wouldn't be a bad thing  I use a bilevel just because I happen to like 4 cm exhale relief better than the 3 cm I can get using EPR. I sleep a little better for some reason. Never could figure out why but I know I just do....and I don't need near the pressures you need. There's also that customization of the timing of the change from inhale to exhale that can be tweaked on bilevel machines that you can't do on the AutoSet.

Thanks Pugsy (and everyone else)

I can't say this whole experience has been pleasant (with the exception of this forums help) in getting me set up.

I don't have any issues at all with the exhale and could probably tolerate higher without issue.

So with everything said and read, I think I should be good with the machine I have unless anyone else thinks otherwise

For those interested, I have "solved" my inhale limitation feeling by dropping the EPR down from 3 to 2 and it feels much more natural.

Good to know that you solved the timing issue. Something so simple as a change in EPR can work wonders.
I always suggest that people experiment with all exhale relief settings including off and pick whatever simply feels best to them.

Back again to revive this one last time.

Pugsy may recall my other thread where I mentioned my mask was leaking.

After two nights, of "observation", I've noticed that the leak is coming from the sides of my mask actually and it feels like tears or someone sucking through a straw.

It's insignificant enough that the machine doesn't register it but enough for me to wake up and notice. I also noticed that this only happens very early in the morning between 4-5am.

TO THE POINT. Is it possible that my minimum pressure is too high and I'm not taking in all the air it's pushing, the vents aren't big enough and as a result air is escaping by creating excess pressure looking for the weakest point?

I could of course experiment by lowering it myself but this only a theory and I'm not informed enough about PAP to know if this is a sound theory.

No.

Your minimum pressure is not excessively high, and your vents not being big enough is not cause for the leak.

If your mask is leaking, especially to the point of waking you up, then you need to concentrate on it's fit, or find a better fitting mask.

Adjusting your minimum pressure won't help because in all likely hood the machine will often increase in pressure beyond your (current) minimum anyway.

Glad I asked, thanks.

Well this sucks. As of now I'm only getting 2 weeks out of each mask cushion. This is going to get expensive

Lets see if we can find a cheaper source.

Folks out there.....those of you buying the P30i nasal pillow/cushion out of pocket....where are you finding yours and how much?
I am going to head over to EBay and see if there are any on EBay.

Look at the mask I am using....see if it interests you. See the link in my equipment profile.

Thanks, I've checked around and the price seems to be pretty consistent unless there is a hidden gem store out there.

I checked yours out a while back and while it looks very free and open, I need something over the mouth.

I originally chose this mask because I can't take pressure on the bridge of my nose (discovered during previous hospital visits).

I may just be SOL and need to eat the cost

Edit: My profile is wrong..... I have a F30i. Sorry about that. Fixed.

I'm getting months from my P30i cushion.
  1. Consider changing size.
When I first started with the P30i from the P10, I just assumed I would use the large, because the P10 large fit well.

That's what I went with, but it was prone to leaking and was very sensitive to slight changes of position. On a whim I tried the medium, it ended up fitting much better.
  2. Experiment with strap position/tightness to change the angle

Stated previously, I find the P30i very sensitive to position, as simple as the wrong position can created subtle leaks.
  3. Consider the N30i cushion.

The N30i cushion is compatible with the P30i and might work better for you. The problem is you don't know the size. There is a sizing chart online, but I've found them to often be hit or miss. One consideration is; when your due for a new mask or the N30i it comes with the three different sizes. If none of them work just continue buying the P30i pillows.

My profile was wrong. I have the F30i, not the P30i. Sorry for the confusion
