Re: Pressure Issue?
It looks like you have EPR set at 3 now, which is fine. So far, no bad effects on your AHI. And if you feel more comfortable this way, that's great!

Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Ok to recap, I will keep it at EPR-3 and try min-press-10 and max-press-20.
Quick question, I know the screenshots all show AHI for OSCAR but is AHI or RDI more beneficial?

Re: Pressure Issue?
AHI numbers are fine.
RDI numbers aren't going to be hugely different and we can see the RERAs flagged if they happen and mentally total the numbers if needed.

Re: Pressure Issue?
I doubt this one will be of any help but will post it anyway. I started off going to sleep on my side but close to falling asleep my nose got stuffy and had to sleep on my back (usually a side sleeper).

Re: Pressure Issue?
Min 12, maybe 13...
See how the pressure jumps up when it gets too low?
You don't want it to do that.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Morning Everyone,
I didn't post Thursdays results because I slept like garbage and thought it would be of little help. Last night I slept pretty well and have a pretty good AHI. Posting both for reference. If anyone has any feedback, it is as always welcome.
One observation however that I noticed with EPR at least while falling asleep. I will refer to it as the "intake cycle". When I breath in, the machine seems to cut off the pressure in anticipation for the exhale a bit too early and as a result I don't feel like I get a full breath of air. Is there anything I can do about this?

Re: Pressure Issue?
Look in your clinical menu set up area for a setting called "Response" and if you have it change it and see if that helps with the timing issues you are having with inhale and exhale.

Re: Pressure Issue?
From what I am reading I don't think that is the same thing I am talking about. From what I've seen that setting only gradually increases the pressure during events.
My issue is the the EPR seems to kick in too soon. So I'll be breathing in and while still breathing in, EPR kicks in and drops the pressure thinking I am exhaling.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Response is the only thing I can think of that might alter the timing on the change during EPR. There's nothing else we can do short of not using EPR.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Hm ok
I'm really happy that my peak pressure has been down since turning EPR on as suggest on this forum. I think maybe I'll play around with Ramp again so that maybe it's not as noticeable
Thanks for all the help

Re: Pressure Issue?
The AutoSet doesn't offer anything that we can really use to change the timing of the transition from inhale to exhale.
Now if you used the AirCurve 10 bilevel...it has some extra settings which can be tweaked to alter that transition.
Play around with the settings and EPR itself and see if you can find a happy medium.
Use the machine while awake watching TV or reading for a period of time so that you have something else to take your mind off the breathing rhythm and maybe get adjusted to the rhythm better.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Does everything else look pretty good at this point?

Re: Pressure Issue?
Everything is looking pretty good on paper anyway.
It can take several days for the body to adjust to changes so I always say give it a few days and see if any trend appears to develop either in how a person sleeps, feels or the data.
If it were my report I wouldn't go changing anything at this point.
I would give it a few days and if I was still seeing this amount of fluctuations in pressure and flow limitations I might try a little more minimum. Especially if I was still feeling like I could stand some improvement in how I slept or felt.
See if smoothing the pressure line out a little brings on any improvements or not. It may and it may not but an experiment I did myself a few years ago. Went up to 13 minimum from 10 minimum over a 6 week period. Nothing changed...AHI didn't change, sleep quality didn't change and how I felt during the day didn't change. So I dropped back down to 10.
Now some of the others say they noticed a substantial difference when the pressure line is smoothed out.
Just another one of those YMMV things that come with this therapy.

Re: Pressure Issue?
Is there any way to believe or determine that I would need a bipap? I have this stuck in the back of my mind because the sleep doctor mentioned it before prescribing the APAP. Probably overthinking all of this.
If you think (and you obviously have experience in the matter) that my graphs/results are looking good, which you said it does, that makes me feel better.
