When people make sweeping generalizations, it's time to carefully examine what they say for all the myriad flaws.

Nice avoidance of my question.
I've done my absolute best to avoid a fight with you. I respect the time you give to help people with cpap issues resolve their problems and I appreciate all the help you've given me. That does not mean I am going to sit by and let you keep taking swipes at me because we have different perspectives.
Last time I checked, I was still allowed to have opinion in this country and I'm still allowed to voice it. I don't agree with anti vaxxers but that is their choice to make. Those that want to stay home during the pandemic good for them too. Those that want to or need to take the risk of going back to work, that IMO should be their choice.
I keep hearing about all the help coming from government but I don't see it. This state won't even have their computer system open for the care act until sometime in May, the 15th maybe ? I know renters who have gotten eviction notices even tho technically they are not supposed to and btw those schoool lunch programs are out of food and cash so no more free lunches for the kids.
I keep telling people to turn off the news but PR I think you need to turn it on and see what is happening around you. It hurts my heart to see so much suffering. We were trying to help others until it hit us as well. Thankfully we are a little bit more prepared than many and can withstand a few months until the government gets their act together on the unemployment $$. Not everyone is so lucky.

Does not the same follow for people that think you're cruel, heartless, shortsighted and wrong? are they not allowed to have an opinion, and to voice it in opposition to yours? Polite understatement may get you further, though. gov inslee has announced today that our stay in place will continue AT LEAST may 31.
some lessening of strict orders, particularly in "lesser counties that haven't been so badly affected".
emphasis remains on safety.
we'll see.

our local counties are ignoring the governor in IL. the mayor has basically said "please don't" open up but there seems to be no consequences (besides the obvious darwin awards) for doing so. the sucky thing is the county next to ours that is opening up, has no hospital system, so those morons will be getting sick and then coming to my town and wasting our own resources for treatment.

I don't have a position on political policy. But I also don't consider docs such as this one to be sociopaths when they question how to balance the approach:
The social distancing policies are harming people—not potential harms, but real harms. Economic harm is a euphemism because the economy is people. I have had patients stop their medications because of job loss. When I state this publicly, some rebut it with the fact that US healthcare is unjust, which is true but also a non sequitur. We do not live in the healthcare system we want but the one we have.--"We Can't Ignore the Harms of Social Distancing," John M. Mandrola, MD.

Unfortunately, with the "built for the rich" medical system we have in this country, that is a thing.jnk... wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 7:57 amI don't have a position on political policy. But I also don't consider docs such as this one to be sociopaths when they question how to balance the approach:

No matter what we do, we harm someone. Who do we harm? Who do we kill, because it is certain that there will be deaths, that there will be disability, (long recovery times needing ongoing physical therapy).
Of course, there are those that pay lip service to "willing to die for the Economy" but I haven't seen a single one actually do it. And, of course, it's not just the old that will die. Middle aged people will die, and suffer, and even kids will die,but as long as the unborn babies are ok, we know a lot won't care.
The old saying "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" is more appropriate than ever today. Read the history of San Francisco in late 1918 and early 1919.
Of course, we can slow the spread by wearing masks to protect others, but the idiots will screw that up like they do everything else. I had a confrontation at Costco this week. I wanted to talk to the manager to pass on a compliment about one of the supervisors. There was an idiot haranguing him about the new corporate policy that everyone has to wear a mask, employees and customers. "I'm not going to wear a mask, you can't make me, it's ridiculous to compare the deaths from this deaths from the Vietnam war, I'm going to cancel my membership!". At which point, I broke in and said that as an immunocompromised person, I was just fine with him not spreading disease in the store", of course he didn't like that, "you're not part of this conversation, besides, you're wearing a mask, you're protected!", to which I replied "that's.not how the masks work.". He huffed off, and I passed my complements on to the manager and condolences for having to put up with assholes, it's not like he has any choice about corporate policies.
Unfortunately, this came out later, but I'm not sure he would have been able to understand it anyway..

Sometimes joining other people's conversations is just [peeing] into the wind.
I do, however, promise to wear pants again if I'm ever allowed back in public.
Just not in Zoom meetings.

U.S. regulators on Friday allowed emergency use of the first drug that appears to help some COVID-19 patients recover faster, a milestone in the global search for effective therapies against the coronavirus.

i seem to remember reading about this some time ago(that said drug was in testing??) but am too lazy to look for it.
