OK - I will try a very gradual increase of pressure(s).
For starters I just changed my settings for tonight
From: L 4.0/H 5.0
To: L 4.4/H 6.0
and will monitor daily. Maybe give this 3 days and if always utilizing 6 as I now utilize 5, I will up it slightly again provided aerophagia discomfort does not increase. Sound OK to you?
Sure, but how soon to move up and what increments to move is something I have no experience with.

I think Zonker moved upwards in the 0.2 or so.

If I recall, member Zonker, had a similar issue and just slowly started increasing his pressure in tiny increments over a fairly long period of time to address his Aerophagia and get to a better pressure.

to jack: yessiree, i went through a ridiculously long time to get my pressure up to where it could finally help reduce my over all ahi. at least two months. i mean, every time i would feel the aerophagia monster raise it's head, back down that pressure went! so i encourage you to take your time in that regard.

ETA: yes, i went up 0.2 each try. that's why i LURV resmed cpaps!!

Why?

You're one of the most qualified to help him. You're one of the few with experience to share on how you addressed aerophagia.

thank you for the flowers. i don't mean to say i'm disappearing altogether. just sitting quietly while my betters speak.

ETA: jack has more problems besides aerophagia. i feel more comfortable helping with that than the other issues, is what i'm saying.

Zonker,
I thought you were exaggerating when you said you changed pressure in 0.2 increments.
I moved the high from 5 to 6 last night and noticed a major gas difference. So I will back it down and do as you suggested in
0.2 increments. AHI was 4.0 for the night. Even if it does not work out going higher than 5 - I am averaging 4 AHI.
5.0 as per the Dr. is fine. ResMed rates anything below 7.0 as fine. So I will give a higher pressure a shot
with 0.2 increases. Thanks

no exaggeration at all!! i felt for the longest time like i was the biggest wimp ever to come on this forum. i didn't think i'd ever make it out of the clutches of that monster. so i'm kinda glad to see someone else who has the same difficulty.

again, most people here would disagree with your satisfaction with your ahi. me, i think you are a grown ass individual and can make your own decisions.

besides, you might want to go for a lower ahi once you tame the gas pains.

I raised mine .2 at a time also. Turns out epap at 10.6 works for me. I would never have found it if I had gone up full cm at a time.

and i take this opportunity to emphasize that there were some nights when i backed off of even that.2 increase because it hit me sideways. for the longest time, i think palerider didn't believe me.

also, i'm a retired guy and could "play" around with my sleep, too. if i had had to do this while i was working, pretty sure i couldn't make it. too much stress on myself to get some sleep!

Its one of those things you have to experience to fully understand, I think. I am also lucky that I did not have to get up and go to work the next day. My expensive machine would likely have gone flying out the window if I knew I had to not only get up but also function the next morning.

Glad to hear / know that others experiences have been similar to what mine are now. Thx for sharing.
Do you guys work for or volunteer for CPAP-Talk? What keeps the forum going?
Most all of you seem to be happy go lucky and are anxious to share/help.

CPAPTalk is paid for by CPAP.COM. (https://www.cpap.com/)

All though the owners do have accounts on the forums, they don't interact much. This place is driven by volunteers. One of the best ways to show support is to consider purchasing supplies from our sponsor cpap.com.

it's free...AT FIRST!!

soon the bill will land on your door.

as DS says, cpap.com pays the bills to put this up. nobody pays us.

i'm still here because of the "old timers" like pugsy and palerider and so on and so forth. they helped ME when i first started here. i've always wondered what i could do to pay this back. then realized that you DON'T pay it back; you pay it forward.

still, what did *I* know? i was never going to be any help technically. my brain just doesn't work that way. then it hit me. I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE NOT TO KNOW THIS STUFF!

so i just started welcoming people and encouraging them and things like that.

it makes me feel like i'm doing my part.

but you can still slip me a few bucks if you want....
