it also just dawned on me...how in the HELL do you keep track of all this diverse information?
Good question...beats the hell out of me. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday sometimes.

Mainly it's years of experience doing something I find interesting and useful. When it's important to me or I actually sort through a problem myself I can remember it more easily. Not always but usually.

Remember I have had 9 plus years to get a handle on this stuff.
i'm slightly jealous of anyone with a good memory. mine has always been porous and old age isn't doing it any good.

i'm just happy that you DO remember this stuff and are kind enough to share your knowledge!

I don't think he'll do that. Pulling down a good admission fee over at zonkerafterdark.com, and there's a lot of interest. :)

overall, i think the machine is a keeper. it's not doing anything untoward or acting crazy or anything like that. i'm still playing with pressure on it. on the resperonics, i was rolling along with a min of 9.5. that seems to be a bit much with the resmed! so i'm playing with lowering my pressure.

haven't switched off of the "for her" algorithm yet. i may try that next, just to see if that has any impact on the pressure.

all in all, nothing surprisingly better nor horribly awful so far!

thanks for asking.

oh suppose someday i ought to go into my settings here and change my equipment! :)

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear everything is moving along smoothly. And you've still got things to try, which will keep you engaged here.

And yes, update that equipment profile or I'm going to start slapping your hand whenever you post. :)

i started on my new airsense 10 autoset for her this past wednesday night and firgured i'd put up some thoughts about transitioning from my previous machine.

first off-yeah, i know. i haven't change my equipment profile yet. i want to wait until i'm sure this is my "forever" machine first.

not that i have any reason to feel it won't be.

i didn't take to it right away. i had a "lapse of intelligence" when i went in to do the setup. it was the easiest thing that gave me the most difficulty! i wanted to turn off the ramp and i ASSUMED that would be in the clinician's menu. i kept trying and trying. finally broke down in looked at my FINE manual and set it per instructions.

just for grins, i have it set to the "for her" mode. i'll prolly try the other mode too, just for comparison.

i set it up to mirror my previous pressures, with a slight uptick of bottom pressure at 9.6. that was just fat fingering on my part as i'm usually at 9.5. then set epr at 3.

well! i slept very fitfully. finally at about 3 am, i turned off epr and that was a little better. i dunno; i'm not real comfortable with epr. i know it helps a lot of people but it just seems to make it HARDER for me to breathe.

the next night wasn't really good either. for some reason, the airsense feels like it's more "powerful" in it's pressure that the resperonics. i turned pressure down to 9 and again, felt better.

now i'm thinking my humidifier is too high so will set that at 1 for tonight. too much dry throat last night.

so as you can see, lots of tweaking. and i'm sure there will be more to come.

one question i have for my fellow air sense users...i don't have this set up as auto on and off. just haven't done that yet. so i notice when i turn this on, it's very responsive getting up to speed very quickly. and when i shut it off, it drops immediately.

except, it still sends out a slight stream of air after i turn it off. it eventually stops. but is this typical for this machine?
I hope you two will be very happy together.

okay so just a bit over a week into this machine. i'm still quite surprised by just how dramatic the change can be when i even do a light increase (.2) to the minimum pressure. it feels to me as though doing that bit of change is similar to when i did a .5 change on the previous.

i thought i'd see if changing pressure would help lower my AHI. but it didn't really and all i did was end up giving myself gas pains. then i decided i needed to mess with my EPR. that didn't help any either.

as i've said, i don't get along well with EPR. but it has dawned on me today that i DID have two good nights in a row. i just started changing things too willy nilly to really accomplish anything. so i've looked at my sleepyhead reports. i'll go back to min of 9.2, max of infinity and EPR set at a sedate 1. that seemed to give AHI of around the 1.5 area without any evil gas intruding.

i'll stick with that for a few nights. once i have some spare time, i'll start arranging charts and post them here to see if anyone has any helpful advice.

Those gas pains! To be avoided at all costs. I've only had that once, while trying out upper pressure @20. Boy it made me gun shy. Getting back up there is on my to-do list. But I haven't even tried the smallest adjustment in that direction yet. Scaredy cat. :)

Thanks for the update. I'm finding this topic of brand change pretty interesting. I'm really happy with my machine, feel like I've got the best of the best. Hopefully you'll get to where you feel the same way. And hey - wouldn't hurt to post a chart. Never know what the experts might spot.

oh! last night was just too gruesome. for some reason, i cannot tolerate the EPR even on this new machine. SO, at 3:30 am, awakened by the gas pain, i turned off EPR all together and dialed my minimum to 7. the first 4 hours of sleep had me at an AHI of 4.21. after adjustments, the next 4 1/2 hours netted an AHI of 0.89. much, much better!

not only better AHI; no gas pains and i felt like i was breathing more naturally. i'm going to try to stay with these settings for tonight, but honestly? who knows?

will def post charts once i get some time. house guests for a few more days....

Hey - great news! And you don't have to worry about floating away while you sleep.

okay, so let's try some screenshots just to see what you smart people can make of it.

since i've set it at a minimum of 7 and no EPR, i seem to be sleeping much better. and i feel good upon wake up. and of course, NO GAS!!!

still, always looking for outside opinions.

would like to get my AHI a little closer to 1 than to 2. looks like i'm getting there.
