You don't get it - turtles are worshipped by N. American indigenous people as (for some tribes/nations) overall holy beings, original gods, earth mother representatives, etc. etc. Learn a little before criticizing.

Copperheads are really bad where we live and my husband kills everyone he can. We don't worry that they will become extinct. I wish they would. They probably think this is their territory but we think it is ours. It is not the same as bears but you can't just lump all animals together.
