Okay Palerider, so I highlighted only what I want to quote (deleted the rest of course), and then hit the quote button.
So how does this look? I don't know what you mean by Code: Select All in the quote window. I see a Code button at the top but what do you mean Select All. The result I see here isn't quite right either.
I wasn't in the edit window I guess.
if you want to use the quote button on the edit window, then highlight something you want in quotes, and THEN hit the buttom.

Especially if it inserts all the garbled stuff, again I don't see any of that in the result.
When I click on the quote button at the top (within edit) it automatically inserts the word quote twice (inside of brackets) and the second one includes the slash mark.
using the quote feature is an advanced function that makes it much easier to tell who you're replying to, and more importantly, WHAT you're replying to.

I don't advise forgoing it's use.

your mistake in the post I mentioned was that you did this:

Code: Select all

[quote][/quote]Sometimes I feel like I'm choking for air - Sometimes I feel like "I'm being blown away[quote][/quote]
instead of this:

Code: Select all

[quote]Sometimes I feel like I'm choking for air - Sometimes I feel like "I'm being blown away[/quote]
the quote pair is supposed to go around something, not both infront of and behind.

if you want to use the quote button on the edit window, then highlight something you want in quotes, and THEN hit the buttom.
Okay, this time I didn't mess with any buttons at the top.

your above quote is ok, *except* there's an extra {/quote] there.
ignore the 'code: select all" bit, it's a way to show the bbcode, (the stuff inside square brackets, instead of having it change the message.)

eg:

Code: Select all

 :D :) :( :o [i]wooo[/i][quote]test[/quote]
vs
wooo
test

yes, he's said his pressure is 10. and yes, ramp has it's own start and duration setting.

might I suggest you go back, and carefully read the post you're objecting to.

Come what may I am going to stick it out

Didn't hear back form my Sleep Clinic
I am going to go with what I have

I took the Eliquis etc - NO on the Mogadon
maybe a can of beer

I will put the Mask on and try and remain Calm

Its going to be another long night
or maybe - just maybe I'll fall asleep - that would be so nice
If not it's going to be Hallucinations all night - I'm so tired

Wish me well whether you like me or not

Our most fervent wish is for all of us the experience of soothing and restful sleep. Much of my earlier experiences somewhat mirrored yours. I knew from experience to not panic and to work through the problems. I don't know if you have ever scuba dived, but if you have, you know that if you are sucking the bottle dry and have to swim against a running tide to get ashore - then is not the time for anger. Work the problem, don't let the problem work you. Also, in early days of my adjustment, I found it often easier to fall asleep in a comfortable recliner with the CPAP in place and a warm blanket to cozy up to. My wife didn't like it, but she knew it wouldn't last long once I acclimated to the regimen. If any thing I said disturbed you, I am sorry - but we all had to learn to accommodate the many intrusion of CPAP and most of those who respond know where of they speak. So, all-in-all, sleep well and awaken more rested then in the past.

that's ALL I get - Try that for a month or two and see what that does for your disposition.
Actually I did it for years and years. It sucks. The problem with getting mad is that it doesn't change anything. I know what it's like to be angry at my own mind and trying to understand why my mind was sabotaging my body and health by not sleeping. No matter how angry I got I never got an answer. That was many years ago and I finally gave up on the anger.

I was diagnosed with apnea three months ago while in for a sleep study on periodic limb movement. I hadn't even considered apnea, as with a lot of the public I thought it meant that I had to be overweight and had to completely stop breathing at times. Turns out weight didn't matter for me and I have more hypopneas than anything else. My O2 dropped to 80% during the study and when I tested it out a little while back without the mask it dropped in the 70s several times during the night.

What I'm getting at is that I eventually found out that the anger and rage were a choice that I could consciously control. I could choose to be angry or I could learn to choose not to. You're in the same boat as me in that with O2 levels that low regularly I wasn't going to live to ripe old age with my wife beside me. I was lucky in that the mask didn't bother me, I used to scuba dive so it seemed familiar. I was irritated that I would have to use this for the rest of my life, hopefully 30-35 years if things go ok. But through long experience I chose not get angry because of the simple fact that it wouldn't change anything except make me more unhappy and make my wife unhappy. In the last three months I haven't been able to get consistent results. I've had three or four good nights during that time. I'll most likely be screwing around with this for several months more. There are too many factors that enter into it outside of just the CPAP machine, the chronic insomnia for one. But how I felt waking up from those good nights makes me want to keep trying.

Depending on the medications you take I would ask your doctor about Ambien or Lunesta. I've found that Lunesta helps me stay asleep longer and when I do wake up it's easier to get back to sleep. I take Ambien, Lunesta and Ativan every night and have for at least 10 years. I'm not suggesting that, I'm an oddity and my psychiatrists have to keep doing written explanations to their boards when they give me my prescriptions.

Nothing anyone says is going to make this suddenly better or make it all ok. However at some point you're going to have to make a decision, do you continue to rage ineffectually about something you have no control over or do you move on. It's a slog, it's never going to be the same as before and it's never going to be as good as not needing CPAP but reality is what it is.

Other people will be able to give you better practical advice on the treatment, especially Pugsy. You absolutely have to start reading your data and work on your settings. The ones that my doctor tried actually had the worst results and it improved after I changed them back.

This is rambling more than a little but I do wish someone had tried to tell me this 25 years ago when my insomnia really got bad. The anger and sense of unfairness lasted a lot longer than it should have and took energy I couldn't afford to spare.

Work on the acceptance, it makes it a lot easier to find a solution or at least a way to live with it.

I wish you well and I hope tonight is better than last night.

so here's what happened
got a late start
had a can of beer and dozed in my chair listening to some music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP66T4UBHHQ

Hooked up approx 12:15
BP spiked - 190 - HR 106
Kind of scary - don't want it to go into an Afib
It settled down - I stayed with it

air blowing around my nose and face is EXTREMELY uncomfortable

numbness & tingling in my extremities
not a good sign - Oxy Starvation - Heart Failure
someone's not doing his job !

stayed with it -
numbness & tingling never went away but never got too severe

Bailed out around 4:40 am

Usage hours - 4:27
events - 0.4
seal & humidifier are both Smiley's

Didn't get 2 seconds of sleep - not a moment
but no hallucinations
Have a throbbing headache

At least I'm not going into recovery or the ICU
BP on disconnect 145/63 - HR 83 - not bad at all

.

ckeith,

I am very sorry to hear about your bad night. But you are definitely making progress by realizing you need a full face mask in light of the the fact you have rhinitis and a deviated septum.

I just feel very confident that once you find the right mask, you are going to be well on your way towards succeeding with this therapy. Just don't give up.

Hi - congrats on trying, really... and you will get there, if not tonight.

Couple of things... you had neuropathy in bed, have you in fact had exam and/or MRI of your vertebrae (cervical comes to mind first) that being tense and/or rigid in bed could affect? Not everything's about apnea or even 02 .

Do you have a plan to source diff. masks to try on... knowing how hard it is to do anything at all I guess now, but must keep moving forward to shorten this awful space you're in.

Congrats on making it a few hours hooked up. That's a big step. Whenever you take a nap, or try to sleep, make sure you have your mask on. Because at some point, you are going to fall asleep and we want you to be using the cpap when it happens. I had insomnia before I started cpap. After getting my cpap, the insomnia went away. I think my brain knows it is safe to fall asleep now because I can breathe all night.
