I think westom's a marketeer for Eaton power products, since that's what he's recommending. (as above)

Protection from lightning is also what must exist to have protection from faults created by stray cars, linemen errors, tree rodents, and even utility switching.

A plug-in protector is for one type of surge (that is typically not destructive). It clearly does not protect from lightning. Protection from lightning is protection from all types of surges. That proven solution means nobody even knows a surge existed. Even a protector does not fail from surges including direct lightning strikes.

Pictures of damage demonstrate what happens when one foolishly does not implement well proven solutions - that typically costs about $1 per protected appliance. Since that is also a best and least expensive protection for appliances on two wire circuits.

Protection means transients are not inside a building. Since even plug-in protectors need that protection.

These proven products come from a long list of manufacturers known for integrity including Intermatic, Square D, Ditek, Siemens, Polyphaser (an industry benchmark), Syscom, Leviton, ABB, Delta, Erico, General Electric, and Cutler-Hammer (Eaton).

oH noEZ! I called out westom for his bullshit, and he sent a "current surge" down my power lines and the power company had to come out and reset their protection devices to turn my neighborhood back on....

TRUTH!

well, the power went out for an hour or so, and people came and now the power's back on.

quick tip to see if the power's out just at your place or the whole neighborhood (assuming you don't live out in the boonies)

check your phone's wifi, see if the regular neighborhood wifi signals are still showing up...

I think you are an abuser of alcohol or are into something else. On this post you quoted me yet didn't even answer my question really did you?
well, I'd assumed more mental capacity from you, my mistake, I do apologize.

the discussion of lightening (sic) strikes on this thread was initiated by westrom, who has a long history[/i of flailing on uncontrollably about the inadequacy of plug in surge suppressors, and you'd no doubt know if you either a) read his post history, or b) apply those "little gray cells" (tm), which you seem woefully short of, to my comment above.

let me give you a logical progression:
Q: why talk of lightening?(sic)
a: Westom is a marketeer for Eaton power products

thought "westom was mentioned",
"westom might market power stuff",
"marketeers typically have little if any technical knowledge",
"westom is trying to get people to buy electrical stuff"
"westom keeps talking about lightening (sic) to scare people into buying stuff"

or, perhaps you were actually talking about "lightening" things, as in, to make lighter"... in which case, I have no idea what you're on about.

Well I noticed the posts (see above) with you creatively changing my username and referring to me as Uncle_nutjob and Uncle_airhead among others have disappeared. What are you doing
