You have cooks in government schools in Montana??? All the government schools I have been in have no cooks. Only workers who warm shitty food up.
Well, it's actually Wyoming, but "government" schools and "public" schools have people who prepare the food in various ways. Regardless as to what their job titles are, they still have to adhere to standards with regard to kitchen cleanliness, temperatures in the freezers, walk-ins and other specifics. The "subsidized" (USDA) food was not nearly enough to feed the kids, so lots of the food was purchased through large food supply companies (like Food Services and Sysco) on periodic bids. Then, the "cooks" had to prepare it for the meals. Granted, some was minimal in prep time and effort, but some of it actually needed to be cooked from "scratch". Over the years it's gotten worse, but the meals (as a whole) were pretty good (at least till I retired in mid-2009). There was a time in the distant past (20+ years ago) when it was all made from scratch.

I'm quite optimistic about what people will be able to achieve out of some good research and will register and vote for your project. I hope you get the grant. Sorry you ran into such cynicism here of all places.

You don't have to "wade" through anything. It's in the first post on the first page.

I just registered and voted yes. People who sleep apnea due to these congenital conditions are afflicted for a lifetime. They do not have the option of losing weight
and no longer needing treatment. They are also rarely diagnosed since they do not fit the "profile" of someone with sleep apnea. Why would the vote be 36 votes against this research ???

Thanks for all the help and support everyone! The research idea now has positive 5 net votes, which probably means that it will at least be considered for inclusion in the NHLBI's research priorities.

I hope you will think of your children and grandchildren when deciding whether to vote.
Research now can prevent them from getting sleep apnea in the future.
There are also a lot of other sleep related research ideas on the forum that need public support. Here is a list of all the research ideas that contain the word "sleep".

If you want there to be funding for sleep disorders research in the coming decade, you should get on the forum and vote. Since the users of this message board are expert sleep disorder patients, your input on this is important.
You are one, dumb SOB.
The vast majority of "research" money is wasted by stupid people who live off of other peoples' money. "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" are two prime examples. The researchers go into these projects with preconceived notions (like your comments indicate about OSA), so, the data is skewed, falsified and misapplied.
NO THANK YOU!!!

Another informed opinion, didn't even read the post, or didn't understand what they read, much worthwhile opinion, just what is needed to help waste other people's money. Jim

Just to let everyone know how the voting turned out, the final number of "net votes" for my research idea was 6. That is an above average score among the 1,257 ideas that were submitted, so probably NHLBI will at least consider it for inclusion in their research priorities. Thank you very much to everyone who helped accomplish this!
