NEW, IMPROVED TAP PAP MOUTHPIECE!
I just got an email from cpap.com and they offered a significant discount for a second generation Tap Pap mouthpiece which is touted to be smaller and lighter.
I had taken the plunge and ordered it when it first became available and given feedback. I don't know if they are extending the discount to others, or just those who participated, but the discount was $21.00 off a $35.00 mouthpiece!
Check it out!

AND... THAT'S NOT ALL!
Order now and get the entire mask with improved mouthpiece for just $99.00 with free shipping and free return insurance!
I ordered another complete mask as well as an extra mouthpiece.
I can't say enough good things about this mask. One bother was the amount of material at the back of my front teeth, and the improved design as removed that. I can't wait to try out this new one!

Re: NEW, IMPROVED TAP PAP MOUTHPIECE!
OMG....you guys and gals who liked the original Tap Pap are going to fall in love with the new improved skinnier mouth guard.
I had a chance to try one a while back as part of the new improved mouth guard experiment a while back and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this new mouth guard so that I could tell everyone how nice it is.
Skinnier for the front teeth and the area behind the front teeth is now much more open. The first time I slipped it on before fitting I could tell a big difference in how it felt in my mouth. I knew it was a winner.
I just ordered one to have as a spare.
Those of you who have been sitting on the fence about ordering the Tap Pap....the whole mask set up now has been reduced in price from $129 to $109...so go get yourself one to try. It still comes with free return insurance so if you should hate it...you can get your money back.
If you ordered a Tap Pap in the past....check your private email because I just now got the email from cpap.com promoting the new improved mouth guard and the discount code for just the mouth guard only purchase.
So....I have tried it and I absolutely love it. While the original mouth guard was great...this new one is indeed lighter, thinner and there is even less of a "wearing a girdle on the teeth" feeling.

Pugsy, is the guard now lessened enough in the back of the front teeth to come close to placing your tongue right behind your front top teeth as some of us normally would w/o a guard?Pugsy wrote: Skinnier for the front teeth and the area behind the front teeth is now much more open. I've had to quit using my Tap Pap as being unable to place my tongue right behind my upper teeth, my lower jaw has been dropping back and my TMJ is really flaring. I have often looked at that guard and wanted to start carving.
I'm wondering/hoping this new one would do the trick.

Go to cpap.com and look at the pic for the new design. You'll see that the material directly behind the front teeth is gone. That area has been bothersome to me as well.DJD52 wrote:Pugsy, is the guard now lessened enough in the back of the front teeth to come close to placing your tongue right behind your front top teeth as some of us normally would w/o a guard?Pugsy wrote: Skinnier for the front teeth and the area behind the front teeth is now much more open. I got the email from them and looked at it on cpap.com but I wasn't sure by seeing the picture. It would need to be as thin as a professionally done guard to allow that area to feel gone. That would mean the whole thing is *much* less bulky. Hmmmm.... How cool would that be.

Yep....that area is now no longer containing any plastic. Go look at the pictures up close of the new mouth guard compared to the one you have. The plastic on the 2 front teeth...extremely minimal compared to the first version you have. Is it as thin as dentist molded mouth guard...I have no idea because I have never used one from a dentist but it is pretty darn thin right up there in front..DJD52 wrote:Pugsy, is the guard now lessened enough in the back of the front teeth to come close to placing your tongue right behind your front top teeth as some of us normally would w/o a guard?
The rear part of the new mouth guard....not quite as tall as the prior version. I just now compared the new vs prior.
Actually...all of the part that goes on the inside of the teeth alongside the side to the rear is a little shorter.
In other words there isn't as much plastic on the inside gum area even along the side and none in the front behind the 2 front teeth.
While those areas really weren't particularly annoying to me with the original version...I can sure appreciate the difference though.
Now that I have a spare coming I plan to butcher the original mouth guard myself.
I plan to trim away a bit on the back because I want to check stability if less teeth were involved.

The molded part of my mouth piece is white. I may already have the new one but I am not sure. I have nothing to compare it to.

I guess the additional discounts are not offered to the rest of us. (price as lised?)

Re: NEW, IMPROVED TAP PAP MOUTHPIECE!
The picture makes it hard to see but there is nothing along the gum line behind the front teeth.
It's like the plastic totally stops at the front teeth instead of having that little rim around and behind the front teeth.
Let me see if I can find some batteries for my camera and put the two side by side so you can actually see the difference better.
It's a huge difference when you put the two side by side but harder to see just by looking at the stock photos.
Now to find some batteries somewhere for the camera.

Re: NEW, IMPROVED TAP PAP MOUTHPIECE!
I got the email, and am anxious to order and try. Sounds wonderful. I was pretty satisfied with the original, but any reduction will be great. The area behind the front teeth has kinda bothered me. Any improvement in comfort is great. I have just used the nasal pillows that came on it. Was hoping one of the spare sets might work when I need a new set. Haven't really checked how much difference there is in size.

Photos of the new (on the left) mouth guard and the original version (on the right). It's still hard to see right behind the front teeth on the new but there is no rim or edge of plastic behind the front teeth. Nothing there except teeth. When I put my tongue behind my front teeth the only thing I feel is the back of my front teeth.

Maybe if you tilted them then you would see the difference from the back.
