Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
Did anyone ever find a change log between 2.51 & 2.53?

That cover comes off so a cellphone modem can be plugged in to the machine. I had one for 3 weeks then the DME told me to bring it in and swap it for the cover, they were done with reading my machine by remote control.sydneybird wrote:I'm sure you checked the provider's guide and users manual. I just did and found no reference to any data port besides the SD card slot. I even pried off the cover where the card reader is to see if there was something behind it. Nothing behind it. I wonder why there is even a removable cover there in the first place? Maybe there used to be a phone jack there in older models. If yours has a phone jack that could be used as a data port. I'm sure you also know that classic mode is only accessible through the provider's menu. I provided instructions in a humidifier post. I don't mean to insult, just covering the bases. I don't know anything about the older SW versions.

Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
Just for fun, I called my own DME (the local Apria) and told them I wanted to get the firmware updated on my machine from v 2.01 to v. 2.53 specifically so I could have silent mode and humidifier preheating.
They're going to call me back. Heh.

I tried that too with my DME. (It didn't work) but I would love to hear how it goes for you.

I don't have high hopes. This is Apria we're talking about, after all. What did you do for xPAP when your unit was off in Missouri? Get a loaner, or are you one of those prudent folks with a backup machine?

I have a spare straight cpap that I bought before I discovered apap. I used that old machine while I waited for the upgrade. I have to say that I'm really glad I did it. The pre humidification is a big deal to me.

I escalated the stakes a bit today.
I called Philips Respironics and told them that I wanted the firmware upgrade, was certainly willing to pay for it, and frustrated that my DME appeared to have no idea what I was talking about. Gave them my machine model number and my firmware release number. I called after COB East Coast time so a Respironics guy is going to call me back tomorrow a.m.
They were interested to know who my clueless DME was.

Made a follow-up call to my DME today, left another message requesting an update to the firmware. <taps foot, looks at watch>

My firmware is 3.03 and I have no idea if it has any benefits over others.

Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
Don't you have a brand-new Series 60 machine? I have a different machine and the firmware numbering is different. You may well have the most recent firmware for your machine.Lugus wrote:My firmware is 3.03 and I have no idea if it has any benefits over others.
Obtaining the firmware upgrade on my machine will provide me with two specific features that I want: "silent mode," so it won't beep when I turn it on (sometimes wakes my husband, although he never complains), and humidifier pre-heating, so I don't start out with dry air.
I'm not interested in the firmware simply because it exists. I want the added functionality.

Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
Yes I have the Series 60 but it seemed a good idea to at least show the firmware to give other forum members a chance to compare. The info may help someone argue with a provider over how new a machine they have been given.

I doubt they'd do it at this point, but my hope is that it ports the opti-start function over from the 3.x tree.RandyJ wrote:I am curious about this as well.DiverCTH wrote:Did anyone ever find a change log between 2.51 & 2.53?
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!
Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
A couple of days ago I called the DME again and talked to a live person.Drowsy Dancer wrote:Made a follow-up call to my DME today, left another message requesting an update to the firmware. <taps foot, looks at watch>
(1) The notes they had in the file on me indicated (incorrectly) that I was wanting to upgrade my machine from the 550 to 560. Nope, just the firmware.
(2) "In all the years I've worked here I've never had anyone ask for that." Um, well, it's probably been fairly recent that CPAPs have even HAD firmware.
(3) "I don't think we can do that." I relayed to them what Respironics told me about how it should be done.
I followed up with an email documenting the existence of the 2.53 firmware release.
This is now going on two weeks.

Re: Updating the firmware on the PR System One machines
there has to be a a way to flash the firmware... if you are on the main screen of your machine highlight setup, then press and hold the main round button and the ramp button until it beeps and it brings you into the setup menu where you can adjust pressure etc... why has no one released info on how to flash firmware updates ??
