"Model number SZ4 SleepZone heated CPAP tube is for use with all other CPAPs eg Fisher& Paykel....Respironics .... Resmed .... DeVilbiss ... Separate power adaptors are required for USA/Can 110V ... for UK/EU 220/240V (easily obtainable locally)Contact us for details ... NB total cost of SleepZone heated CPAP tube is US $89.00 and is inclusive of all shipping and handling charges."

Do I need a seperate power adapter for this one?

"Model Number: SZ3
Price: $89.00

NOW NO POWER ADAPTOR REQUIRED FOR USA /CANADA ....THE SLEEPZONE HEATED CPAP TUBE IS NOW AVAILABLE WITH PIGGYBACK POWER ADAPTOR .... SIMPLY PLUGS INTO ALL 420 model POWER SUPPLIES"

The SZ3 is for Puritan Bennett 420 models - not the Remstar.

As Wader said - for the Remstar, get the SZ4.

Yes, you'll need a separated power supply, they'll send you clear instructions as to what type it is.

On an aside - I have a PB420E, and bought the piggy back version, but I'm using it with a separate power supply. The version of the power supply I have (European) isn't strong enough for both hose an machine - it got too warm.

The reason you can piggy back on PB, but not on Remstars is that the PBs power gets converted outside the box - it has wall wart (ugly black brick) that you stick into the wall. The Remstar's power convertion occurs inside the box, it just has a nice, neat cable plugging into the wall...

rbcave, according to your profile you have a Respironics machine. SZ4 is the model you want, I believe.

If in doubt, just email the sleepzone folks. They are excellent to deal with.

ooops, I had stopped to answer the phone and hit submit after a delay. Didn't realize Wader and ozij had already answered your question.

RbCave, you said you ordered the software. Hopefully you are not paying for it. The only thing you need to buy is the reader. Recently, most of us are buying the 2factors one from Hong Kong for $30.80. Downloading the software is free. Here is something I wrote up and saved. Hopefully it will get you started:

These are the steps my husband and I recently went through to install Encore Pro and MyEncore. This has been written several times, but after we fumbled around and uninstalled and reinstalled many times, we finally got it down pat. Plus, we even managed to get it installed on 2 computers.

We have Windows XP (pro and home editions):

You can purchase a reader for $30.80 (includes shipping from Hong Kong to the USA). I used a credit card, some pay via Paypal. It takes about 8 to 10 days to get to the USA. This is the one I purchased for a desktop:

http://www.2factors.com/index.php?sp=&p ... s=&lang=en

Do NOT use the CD that comes with the reader. You will get a driver from the 2factors site (see below).

1. Download and install the free Respironics software from the respironics site below. For a new installation use Encore Pro version 1.5i (this installs both the software and MSSQL server).

http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... ge=[Encore]

2. Run the 2factors DT3500 for a USB desktop “sliding and portal” (that’s what we needed for the reader we bought). You want the “installers for Encore Pro” at the bottom of the screen. Do Not Use the CD that came with the reader… Go to this site to run the driver:

http://www.2factors.com/index.php?sp=&p ... s=&lang=en

3. Next you want to run the “setup.exe” driver file from “Sleepymans” website. You access it thru this forum and this is the page you will find it on: Just click on it and say RUN:

viewtopic.php?p=58727&highlight=free+do ... nics#58727

4. Last, you download and install MyEncore Ver. 15b7 from here:

viewtopic.php?t=6057&highlight=

Anyway, hope that helps to get you started off right. If anyone sees any additions or corrections, please let me know and I will update this and post it every so often.

Did you order the reader from 2factors? Otherwise, you are wasting money - it's exactly the same reader.

Good job Robby. In about 8 days you should have your reader, then you get to the fun stuff.

What I wrote above, is for desktop installation, and we have XP. Just be sure to download all 3 things, and DO NOT use the CD that comes with the reader.

You should be fine.

Another vote for the Remstar Auto with C-Flex. It's the only one I've owned, so can't compare with others, but I'm happy with it. Probably best to read up on it and compare features with others you are considering. Seems to be a popular unit, which is usually a good sign.

All I can say is WOW! This machine is nothing short of awesome! I just put my mask on and off to lala land. Even if I don't go right to sleep, there is not the discomfort of air blasting you. This has made this whole therapy thing not only bearable but sort of nice. I am getting positive symptoms many people speak about that I never got on regular cpap. Even with minimal sleep I feel so rested. Thank you all for the advice and encouragement! Going to fly with it on business to Chicago in the morning so I am printing out the TSA guidelines and my script for less hassle.

Have a great week all!
Robby

Sleepymans driver page has been locked. Does anyone else know where I can get it?
