Derek moves a lot faster than I do. I just loaded the Beta 2 last night and now see a Beta 4. I guess I missed 3 all together. WOW.

HELP! New user - Need info on Data Card, Masks, & Rainou

Post by Sleepless in Southwest » Sat Nov 19, 2005 2:49 pm

Hello:

I just started BIPAP therapy. I have a Respironics BIPAP Pro 2 BiFlex machine with a heated humidifier. How does one use the Data Card and/or receive data from the machine? Is it transferred to a computer? What software is needed?

Also, I was started on a nasal mask that is very uncomfortable. Each morning I wake up with pressure sores and bruises. I've tried adjusting it and it doesn't help. Loosening it up creates too many air leaks. I've also tried different nasal pillow systems but the airflow doesn't feel the same and the inside of my nostrils are bruised and sore the next day. I even had nose bleeds with one. Is there a skin protectant I can use? What type of mask should I try? I'm a side sleeper. I'm beginning to feel like "Princess and the Pea".

On the fifth night of usage, the hose from my BIPAP machine started leaking water. The next morning I woke up with a lot of water in my mask too. I have the humidifier set at 3 and it still creates water. What can be done about this? What about the water in the mask?

Thanks for any ideas!

P.S. How does one put the icons below a post with his or her machine, mask, etc.? Is there a place to register on this site to become a user, instead of a guest? Thanks!

mmm... I thought the default password for MSSQL was always been login: sa, password=sa and not blank. But the desktop engine could be different. The rash of security patches required the change some time ago.

hey Derek, sure wish you'd make a version of your software available for the Resmed Spirit. It's just a serial interface, with a protocol analyzer should be easy to crack what's going on. Heck, I'd even buy the stuff since their software is so lame.

Sleepless in SW,
To read the data from a card-enabled respironics machine you need tp purchase the Encore Pro software. I wrote a review of the software here:

Revieew of Encore Pro

You will also need to purchase a SmartCard reader, either as part of the Encore Pro package, or much less expensively, from a separate vendor, such as

http://www.2factors.com

The card reader model is a Mako DT3500. Others on this site can give better advice on purchasing from 2factors.

MyEncore is a free add-on program that presents the data stored by Encore Pro in a series of user friendly graphs. You can find out more about it from

Does anyone know where I can find the info on MyEncore where Derek describes how he uses it? I thought I saw a part online where he gave a summary on how he uses the data.

Thanks.
